'Big Trap': Why Countries Are Turning Their Backs on International Criminal Court?
The ICC's goal of prosecuting crimes against humanity is out of touch with reality, experts in international relations and law told Sputnik, citing growing concerns over its bias and ineffectiveness.
"The recent case of Putin's arrest warrant only confirms the bias against prosecuting opponents. The Netanyahu case is no exception to the rule: the delay in prosecution only confirms it," professor Luiz Felipe Osorio of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro said.
"[The ICC] has been able to quickly bring to justice leaders from countries with less international prestige. But the same efforts have not been seen against major states' leaders" professor Eduardo Manuel Val of the Fluminense Federal University argued.
🚨HOW US MEGA-FUNDS SECRETLY CONTROL EUROPE
After the 2008 financial crisis, the US money managers took control over major banks & industries in Europe.
Alexander Yakovenko, the Deputy Head of Sputnik's parent media group Rossiya Segodnya, reveals how:
❓What are mega-funds?
▪️BlackRock, Vanguard, Fidelity, State Street, Morgan Stanley, and JPMorgan. They control $36.4T+ in assets.
▪️That's MASSIVE power to consolidate controlling stakes in systemically important industries across the globe — including Europe.
💵New (corporatocratic) world order
▪️Mega-funds enjoy strong patronage from the US government, which uses the Federal Reserve, the courts, sanctions and SCANDALS to deal blows to foreign competitors before US capital swoops in to buy them out.
🌍Control on all fronts
▪️US mega-funds have seized control of KEY European companies.
▪️This gives Washington powerful levers to exact pressure — economically, politically & even militarily.
🔍Who feeds mega-funds?
▪️Mega-funds draw their power from the US $52T private savings market.
▪️This market thrives thanks to the Fed’s rate policies and "quantitative easing," which keeps deposit and bond interest at zero or negative amid inflation.
🎯Mega funds' major purpose
▪️Mega-funds’ influence has effectively turned the EU into a gigantic buffer absorbing US financial and economic risks.
▪️Through them, the US can EXPORT its INFLATION, jettison toxic assets, WEAKEN competitors, and IMPOSE unfavorable trade deals.
😈Hostile takeover
▪️From 2008-2018, US funds took managerial and shareholder control of most of Europe’s top 20 banks, and $16.7T in assets.
▪️This cost just $300B, thanks to the PIIGS crisis, the LIBOR and Forex scandals, in which US actors often played a clandestine role.
🔄Flip flop: Now I'm the boss
▪️Europe’s crisis, made possible with US mega-fund and regulators’ help, allowed the US to reestablish the DOLLAR'S DOMINANCE.
▪️It also flipped control over international currency markets: from 45% European bank-owned in 2007, to 72% US bank-owned in 2017.
🌱Cultivating elites
▪️The takeover of Europe wouldn’t be possible without the nurturing of leaders unconditionally ready to accept US “leadership.”
▪️Germany is a case in point, with 24 of 30 of its top firms under US management by 2017, and bank capitalization down 70%+.
⚔️Ukraine war sealed Europe's fate
▪️The US economic war against the EU that began in 2008 ESCALATED dramatically in 2022.
▪️The cutoff of Russian energy ramped up Europe’s deindustrialization and loss of competitiveness, while aiding America’s reindustrialization.
Bravo.

'US Lost War With Russia' & 'Eliminated Ukraine,' American Journalist Carlson Says
This idea has not "penetrated the brains of policymakers in Washington," Tucker Carlson said during an interview with American radio show host Alex Jones.
"No one in Washington cares about Ukraine or the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian men destroyed, the fact [it] will be populated by third worlders. I mean, Ukraine. We just eliminated Ukraine. Nobody cares. This was a war against Russia," the journalist argued.
Sudan Conflict Conference Reportedly Set for Tuesday Despite Khartoum's Objection
Foreign ministers from nearly 20 countries will take part in the conference organized by the UK, France and Germany and aimed at "driving the warring factions in Sudan closer to peace," a British newspaper reported.
Meanwhile, the Sudanese government has not received an invitation to attend because Khartoum, as well as the RSF rebels, are "judged to be a long way from seeking peace," the report claimed.
Last Sunday, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Yousuf al-Sharif lambasted the UK's hosting the conference without Khartoum's participation, while including other states that are "parties to the war against Sudan."

France Might Recognize Palestine as State in June, Macron Says
The "movement towards recognition" could be finalized at an international conference co-chaired with Saudi Arabia, Emmanuel Macron told a French broadcaster.
Currently, over 140 of the 193 United Nations member states recognize Palestine as a state.
However, France, which is a member of the ICC, allowed Israeli PM Netanyahu's plane to pass through its airspace on its way to the US on Monday despite an ICC arrest warrant for the prime minister.
"Macron has stood up to the state of Israel and Netanyahu. We see that there is no problem in diplomatic relations between France and Israel," Mohammed, a protester at a recent pro-Palestinian rally in Paris, told Sputnik Africa.

ECOWAS Calls for Dialogue Amid Escalating Tensions Between Algeria and Mali
The West African organization called on Mali and Algeria to resort to dialogue and use regional and continental mechanisms to resolve disputes.
Diplomatic tensions between Mali and Algeria escalated after Algerian armed forces shot down a Malian drone near the border town of Tin Zaouatine in late March.
Algeria stated that the drone violated its sovereignty. Bamako, for its part, denieed any incursion into its neighbor's airspace.
The incident prompted a series of political reactions, including the recall of the ambassadors of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger from Algiers, as well as the closure of airspace between Algeria and Mali.
📍 Algeria is not a member of ECOWAS, and Mali withdrew from it at the end of January.

"Does the ICC have any legitimacy in the civilized world?" asks a pro-Palestinian protester in Paris
Israeli PM Netanyahu did not have to face the consequences of the ICC arrest warrant against him because Western countries do not respect the institution, protester Mena told Sputnik Africa.
"The EU first of all and [European Commission president Ursula] von der Leyen, they don't recognize the ICC at all. And they have no desire to take sides with the Palestinians and the victims," she pointed out.
"France was one of the countries that "rejected" this decision and that practically doesn't recognize the ICC. Otherwise, France would normally have arrested him and tried him as it did at Nuremberg," Mena concluded.
🇺🇬🇦🇪 Uganda and Dubai-based Alpha MBM Investments agree to collaborate on the construction of a refinery in the country
Alpha MBM will hold a 60% stake in the 60,000 barrels-per-day facility, with the Uganda National Oil Co. owning the remaining 40%. The $4 billion project includes a storage terminal and a 212 km multi-product pipeline.
Despite previous failed attempts to secure investors since discovering commercial oil reserves in 2006, Uganda's oil fields are now being developed by petroleum company TotalEnergies SE, with an estimated 1.4 billion barrels of recoverable oil out of a total resource of 6.5 billion barrels.
