someone asked about the mini-comic I made in 2020 for a Polish zine called ciut, so here it is — fully online for the first time! it's about ball lightning — in my village every grandma has a story about it 😂
most of my artworks reflect my own experiences, and my photos, especially those shot on film, play an important role in creating my drawings.
I started shooting with a Smena 8M in 2017—a camera that once belonged to my uncle. since then, I’ve gone through about five of these cameras. they’d break down for various reasons, and it was cheaper to replace than to repair them.
now my latest one is broken too, and I’m not sure if I’ll keep using this model. so this post is my tribute to a simple device that sometimes worked wonders and made me feel life in all its beauty 🥀 #35mm

pixel art animation tools! #useful
1. SpookyGhost — procedural animation tool, I find it useful for animating wind 😎
2. Dain-App — frame interpolation app, makes animation smoother. doesn’t work perfectly with pixel art, but cleaning the result is sometimes faster than creating additional frames from scratch 😎
3. PixelOver — multifunctional pixel art tool that even offers bone rigging with pixel art resampler! haven't tried it yet, but it looks very promising 😎

What advice would you give to yourself at the start of your career?
1. Don’t hesitate to ask for help when you’re stuck.
2. Don’t underestimate the importance of rest—it’s essential for both work and progress.
3. Striving for absolute realism isn’t always necessary; develop the skill of tasteful exaggeration.
4. Don’t get too attached to your work—it may be revised or discarded, and that’s often beyond your control.
5. Soft skills can sometimes advance your career more than hard skills. For example, a well-pitched design is often more valued than an interesting concept you can’t present effectively.
1. Create a personal reference library, organized into folders with a system that suits your search needs.
2. Utilize tools like Bridge Unreal for free assets and Blender add-ons such as Hard Ops.
3. Use Photoshop actions, shortcuts, and hotkeys to save time.
4. ShotDeck for finding references.
5. ChatGPT to streamline research—summarizing articles, extracting key points, and finding historical or character design references.
I’d rate my creative freedom at 8 out of 10, but it depends on the task. Sometimes there are strict guidelines, while other times I have complete freedom within a given theme.

Japan, in many places, seems to be stuck in an alternate universe where time has stopped. South Korea, by comparison, feels more futuristic—almost like Cyberpunk in real life. Unexpectedly, I took most of my photos in the countryside and realised that noisy, visually reach cities don’t inspire me as much as quiet places where I can finally hear my thoughts. What’s even more surprising is how much a Japanese village echoed the artwork with green fields I had started before this trip. Everything aligned in a way I never imagined 🐦🐦🐦
