Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of International Organisations Kirill Logvinov:
▪️ On August 19, 2003, a bomb attack on a hotel in Baghdad killed 22 humanitarian workers, including UN Special Representative for Iraq Sergio Vieira de Mello.
The unprecedented attack on people carrying out their duty to save the lives of others left a deep mark far beyond the professional humanitarian community.
To raise public awareness of humanitarian assistance, the importance of multilateral cooperation in this field and the inviolability of humanitarian ideals, in 2008 the UN General Assembly, by Resolution 63/139, proclaimed August 19 World Humanitarian Day.
More than 250 million people worldwide are in need of assistance. The broad capabilities of the UN’s humanitarian system are mobilised to help meet at least part of these needs.
🇷🇺 Russia is an active participant in humanitarian operations. The expertise and experience of Russian search-and-rescue teams are widely sought in responding to natural disasters and rescuing those affected, while Russian medical teams rapidly deploy mobile hospitals on the ground.
#RussiaHelps
🤝 Since the beginning of 2026 alone, Russian humanitarian supplies have been delivered to Burkina Faso, Venezuela, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Mali, Palestine, Tajikistan and Cuba.
These efforts have been carried out both bilaterally and through specialised international organisations, including the #UN system and our key partner, the World Food Programme. Regional authorities and Russian NGOs also play an important role in our humanitarian efforts.
Russia provides assistance to third countries with the consent of and in close coordination with the governments of recipient states, and in accordance with the core principles of humanitarian response – neutrality, humanity, impartiality and independence. These principles are enshrined in UN General Assembly Resolution 46/182.
We consistently uphold their inviolability at the UN and oppose attempts by the global minority to turn humanitarian assistance into an instrument of political pressure and interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states.
🏙 On November 23-24, 2026, the International Municipal Forum will take place at the National Centre RUSSIA in Moscow.
The Forum is a flagship platform for discussing urban development in Russia and advancing international cooperation in the field of urban infrastructure.
This year’s theme is "A More Sustainable Urban Transformation: Responding to Global Challenges".
🌐 The Forum will bring together Russian officials, representatives of federal and municipal authorities, business leaders, investors, public and political figures, as well as delegates from Asia, Australia and Oceania, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, North and South America, and the #CIS.
The event is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Russian Government. The Government of Moscow is the General Partner.
💬 Executive Secretary of the Forum Organizing Committee, Adviser to the President of Russia Anton Kobyakov:
“The 21st century is an age of transformation, with the foundations of a new reality now being laid. The exchange of international experience enables us to find joint responses to common challenges and overcome existing barriers.
This Forum is about more than identifying trends – it is about shaping the DNA of our shared future. Our primary mission is to bring advanced technologies and people together in harmony, creating a future in which we can live and grow together”.

⚡️ Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rodion Miroshnik:
💬 Throughout the past week, Kiev’s armed groups continued to escalate their terrorist attacks against civilians. On average, around 60 civilians were injured and 10 killed every day in Ukrainian attacks.
▪️ The total number of civilian casualties over the seven-day period reached 475.
Civilian infrastructure, medical facilities, ambulances and emergency medical crews, passenger trains and logistics centres were deliberately targeted.
The gravest consequences in terms of casualties were recorded in the Republic of Tatarstan, where the main strikes hit the industrial zone and residential areas of Nizhnekamsk.
The highest numbers of civilian casualties resulting from Kiev’s attacks were recorded in the Belgorod Region, Republic of Tatarstan, DPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions.
On August 10-16, Ukrainian Nazi attacks resulted in 475 civilian casualties: 406 people were injured, including 16 children, while 69 people were killed, including 3 children.
Over the seven-day period, Ukrainian militants fired at least 7,264 munitions at civilian sites on Russian territory.
💬 Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova:
On August 17, with the assistance of the Office of the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights, a 14-year-old girl has returned to Russia. Born in Moscow, she later moved to Ukraine to live with her grandmother. Her mother continued to visit her, and the two remained in close contact.
After the start of the special military operation, the mother was unable to bring her daughter back on her own and turned to the International Committee of the Red Cross for assistance. The ICRC then contacted our office, and following a complex process of coordination and arrangements, the girl was finally able to return home.
The Children’s Rights Commissioners are carrying out this humanitarian work to reunite families on the instructions of President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
We are particularly grateful to First Lady of the US Melania Trump for her active involvement in efforts to reunite children with their families.
☝️ To date, with the participation of the Children’s Rights Commissioners, 32 children from 24 families have been reunited with relatives in Russia, while 145 children from 118 families have been reunited with relatives in Ukraine and third countries.
🤝 With the support of Melania Trump, 34 children have been reunited with their loved ones in Russia, Ukraine and third countries.

🎙 Comment by Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova regarding plans by the United States and Türkiye to supply arms to Kiev (August 15, 2026)
❓ Question: There have been alarming reports lately on the possible delivery of a large shipment of US-made weapons and munitions to Ukraine, which are currently at the disposal of the Turkish Republic. What would be your comment in this regard?
💬 Maria Zakharova: Judging by the documents, which were recently released by the US Congress, this can be quite a considerable arsenal, including offensive weapons.
In particular, these papers mention 12 multiple rocket launch systems and more than 2,500 non-guided cluster munitions for them, as well as 47,000 203-mm cluster shells and 70 ATACMS short-range missiles.
What jumps to the eye are all the remaining contradictions and inconsistencies regarding the circumstances and terms for delivering such a big load of lethal products.
It remains unclear who initiated this project to re-export weapons, how they will be transported and when this large lethal shipment will be sent to its receivers in Kiev. Finally, what were the parties involved in this deal thinking, namely the United States and Türkiye, when they decided to open yet another Pandora’s box to make the Banderite regime last longer in its agony while claiming more lives?
Moreover, these are countries which have been aspiring to play a special role in settling the Ukraine crisis and which have been saying that finding a political and diplomatic solution was their priority.
❗️ Pumping the Zelensky junta full of weapons will do nothing to affect the course of the special military operation in any meaningful way in terms of diverting it from Russia’s righteous scenario.
However, there will be no way to avoid damage across the board from these deliveries. This is not only a matter of victims and destruction and Kiev’s determination to cause harm at a larger scale, but also a matter of dealing with a severe blow to Russia’s bilateral relations with Washington and Ankara.
Attempts to exploit a peace-making rhetoric while supplying the Ukrainian Nazis with weapons inevitably undermine mutual trust, especially considering the fact that the Turkish authorities have made multiple assurances that they were committed to refraining from delivering lethal weapons to Kiev.
The Foreign Ministry has requested explanations from Washington and Ankara in connection with the information as announced by US Congress.
👉 There is still time to take a sober look at this whole situation.

💬 Russia's High Commissioner for Human Rights Yana Lantratova:
Together with the Russian Defence Ministry and the relevant agencies, we regularly provide the Ukrainian side with lists of our citizens who are expected back home.
❌ Unfortunately, Kiev often rejects the proposals we put forward – it does not want to take back all of its own people and, most importantly, is in no hurry to return ours. That is precisely what has happened once again.
It is necessary to set the record straight on a situation the Ukrainian authorities are trying to distort.
The Ukrainian side has published lists of our people from the LPR, DPR and Republic of Crimea who have been held captive since 2014 and 2022, claiming that “Moscow refuses to include them in exchange lists”. I believe it is necessary to give a clear and principled assessment of the situation.
For our part, we are ready for an exchange. In the past month alone, we proposed three different lists – including ordinary soldiers and individuals convicted in Russia under various criminal statutes. But Ukraine refuses to take back its own citizens.
We have already agreed on a list of 224 people. These are Ukrainian nationals convicted of various crimes committed on our territory. We are ready to exchange them as early as tomorrow morning, with one goal in mind – to bring OUR people home – those from the DPR, LPR and Crimea who have been waiting to return since 2014 and 2022. But Ukraine refuses to take the mentioned 224 people. It needs PR, not people’s lives.
👉 The Ukrainian authorities, which refuse to take back their own convicted citizens, in reality treat them as expendable. They are the ones feeding them false hope through video appeals while refusing to approve an exchange.
We are ready for a wide range of exchange formats. Our goal is to secure the release of our people held captive. We are publishing the list of Ukrainian citizens whom we are ready to exchange for ours.
📄 List of 224 Ukrainian citizens proposed by Russia for exchange
☢️ Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (#ZNPP):
On August 11, three people were injured in a Ukrainian drone attack in Energodar’s industrial area. Two of them are employees of the electrical grid workshop at the Zaporozhskaya NPP (part of Rosatom).
The employees were en route to restore power to facilities in the industrial area damaged in previous AFU attacks.
ZNPP electrical grid personnel work every day to restore power to Energodar and industrial facilities following Ukrainian strikes. Often working under the threat of renewed attacks, they make every effort to promptly restore electricity to damaged areas.
It was these very people – on their way to restore power supplies – who were targeted.
All those injured were taken to Medical Unit No. 145, where they are receiving all necessary medical care. Unfortunately, one of them is in serious condition.
❗️ The AFU deliberately put Zaporozhskaya NPP personnel at risk as they carry out work vital to the city. They repair damaged infrastructure and maintain power supplies to social and industrial facilities – doing so every day despite the constant threat of attack.
The plant’s personnel continue to perform their professional duties, ensuring the safety and uninterrupted functioning of Energodar.
🎙 Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s statement on the death of foreign nationals in the terrorist attack by Ukrainian militants on Nizhnekamsk (August 10, 2026)
💬 The terrorist attack by the Kiev regime against civilian sites in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, on August 10 resulted in at least 13 fatalities, most of them foreign nationals.
According to preliminary reports, the victims included eight citizens of Uzbekistan and one citizen of Tajikistan. Approximately 20 foreign nationals were wounded.
The Kiev neo-Nazis deliberately targeted facilities where people from our friendly countries live and work, aiming to drive a wedge between our nations and undermine our brotherly relations.
The terrorist attacks perpetrated by Ukrainian militant have claimed the lives of not only Russian civilians, but also foreign nationals.
▪️ We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wish speedy recovery to the wounded.
The Russian Foreign Ministry calls on all members of the international community to condemn the barbaric crimes of the Ukrainian Nazis.
💬 Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department for Multilateral Human Rights Cooperation Grigory Lukiyantsev:
🌐 Every year on August 9, the world marks the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. It was first proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in December 1994 to raise awareness of the challenges facing indigenous populations.
Indigenous peoples live in all regions of the world and occupy around 22% of the planet’s land area. They speak the vast majority of the world’s roughly 7,000 languages and represent some 5,000 distinct cultures.
Knowing how much our Western colleagues like to raise the issue of alleged “violations of the rights of indigenous small-numbered peoples” in Russia, I will cite just a few facts from our own human rights dossiers on the countries concerned, illustrating the systemic nature of the problems they themselves face in this area.
• Australia. Out of every 1,000 Aboriginal children, 58 are in state care, compared with just 4.7 among the rest of the population – more than 12 times fewer.
• Denmark. According to statistics, homelessness among Inuit people is five times higher per capita than among ethnic Danes.
• Canada. From the 1890s to the present day, at least 15,000 indigenous women have been subjected to forced sterilisation.
• New Zealand. The indigenous Māori population accounts for a disproportionately high share of suicides, while in psychiatric institutions Māori patients are more frequently subjected to seclusion as a form of punishment and discipline.
• Norway. According to statistics, three out of four Sámi people – who live predominantly in the three northern counties of Finnmark, Troms and Nordland – experience discrimination on the grounds of ethnicity, gender and place of residence.
• United States. More than a quarter of representatives of the “First Nations” live below the poverty line, while only 15% hold a bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Finland. Finnish authorities issue permits for geological exploration and quarry development on Sámi lands while disregarding objections from the Sámi community, thereby depriving its members of their traditional habitat.
• Sweden. Citing its commitment to the “green transition”, the country is actively accelerating mineral development without due regard for the preservation of lands traditionally used for reindeer herding, Sámi culture or its international obligations to protect minority rights.
• Japan. Discrimination against the Ainu, who live in the north of the country, and the Ryukyuans, who inhabit the southern islands, continues. Indigenous people face discrimination in employment, education and social welfare.
Even these bare facts show that a number of states which portray themselves as “model democracies” treat their own populations harshly. This concerns not only policies of assimilation and the displacement of indigenous peoples from their traditional lands, but even efforts to forcibly reduce their populations.
🔍 More information on the situation regarding the rights of indigenous peoples in a number of countries are available in the relevant thematic report by the Russian MFA.
⚡️ Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova:
💬 The August 8 press conference of Aleksandar Vucic and Vladimir Zelensky in Belgrade cast a distinctly brown shadow by Michael Martens, a correspondent for the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ). His question was: “Can you tell us Europeans what we can concretely do to help you kill more Russians? More Russian soldiers, of course”.
To leave no doubt as to the motives behind the provocation, he later clarified on social media: “It is not scandalous to ask the Ukrainian President how Europe can help Ukraine to kill more Russians. That is what is needed. Outside Barbieworld, this is how wars are fought”.
This German clearly knows how wars are supposed to be fought in the real world and how to “kill Russians”. Martens previously worked, with the support of – or, more accurately, on assignment from – the German Foreign Ministry, as an editor at Russian-German newspapers in Bishkek, Almaty, St Petersburg and Kiev.
☝️ He himself comes from a Nazi family. His grandfather, Hans-Hermann Martens, a member of the NSDAP, was a senior Nazi officer who served on the staff of the Wehrmacht High Command under Alfred Jodl, who was executed following the verdict of the Nuremberg Tribunal for crimes against peace, war crimes and crimes against humanity. It is not difficult to imagine what atrocities Hans-Hermann Martens committed under the command of this Nazi criminal.
Like many public figures in today’s Germany, this descendant of Nazi filth has learned to weaponise the brown legacy for his own ends.
Now a word about the technique involved. In 2024, Martens wrote on X: “Before the trip to Wrocław, I had decided not to take part in any political discussions about Israel, should they occur. Being German and being the descendant of an officer in the Wehrmacht command staff in WWII, I thought I should remain silent”.
There you have it – tolerance in action, while morality remains in the concentration camp. Martens is a textbook brown propagandist – peddling xenophobia, dehumanising Russians and legitimising anti-Russian hate speech.
Has anyone in the West condemned the revanchist remarks of this descendant of Nazis? Where are all those celebrated human rights advocates, journalists and humanists who are so quick to react to every supposedly intolerant word and every instance of hate speech?
🤐 Silence. Deafening silence. Because for the supposedly “civilised” world, this Nazi grandson merely said out loud what they all think. He simply called it not “inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia”, but, quite literally, “killing Russians”.
Anyone who shakes his hand now should not be surprised to find a brown stain on theirs.
☢️ Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (#ZNPP):
On August 18, Ukrainian militants carried out a deliberate strike on a staff transport stop in Energodar, where employees of the ZNPP were waiting for a bus to take them to work.
▪️ The attack resulted in 17 casualties, most of them ZNPP employees. One nuclear plant worker was killed. Three of the injured are in moderate condition. All those injured are receiving the necessary medical care.
This crosses every line.
Those targeted were civilians. They were not involved in the fighting or taking part in hostilities. They were simply on their way to work – to carry out their professional duties and help ensure the safe operation of the nuclear power plant.
A deliberate attack on ZNPP personnel is an attack on the very people responsible for nuclear safety. The safety of the plant, Energodar and the vast surrounding area depends on their work.
The Kiev regime has once again shown that it is prepared to put civilian lives and the safety of a nuclear facility at risk.
❗️ Nuclear plant workers must never be made targets. Under any circumstances.
⚡️ Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's statement on the disruption of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi’s visit to the Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant and Energodar (August 18, 2026)
💬 We express our deep concern over the aggressive and malicious actions of the Kiev regime, which continues its provocations against the Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (#ZNPP), practically on a daily basis attacking the plant and its personnel and creating a real threat of a nuclear disaster in the heart of Europe.
Another reckless step was Ukraine’s decision to disrupt the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi’s planned August 20-21 visit to the #ZNPP and the nuclear workers’ city of Energodar, which was to coincide with another rotation of IAEA Secretariat experts at the plant.
All the details had been worked out in advance by the IAEA Secretariat and the Russian Side. We provided the necessary security guarantees, which fully satisfied the Agency.
👉 However, Kiev cynically threatened the IAEA Director General, explicitly stating that it could not guarantee his safety if he travelled to the ZNPP via Russian territory.
We regard this as yet another act of self-exposure by the Kiev regime. It makes no secret of its criminal intentions toward the leadership of one of the world’s largest international organisations, effectively turning its head into a target.
Under such circumstances, Rafael Grossi was understandably forced to cancel his visit.
It is clear that, given the circumstances, the Agency has no choice but to finally acknowledge that the threats to the ZNPP originate precisely from Ukraine, as the Russian Side has been saying for several years.
Kiev has previously repeatedly disrupted rotations at the ZNPP, violated ceasefire arrangements established to enable repair work at energy infrastructure facilities directly affecting the plant’s safe operation, and even carried out strikes against vehicles transporting representatives of the IAEA Secretariat.
Kiev’s crimes continue unabated. On the morning of August 18, a strike targeted a public transport stop in Energodar. One person was killed and 15 were injured.
All this would be impossible without the constant political support that Western countries continue to provide to Zelensky and his gang, driven mad by a sense of impunity. This only encourages the Kiev regime to embark on ever more reckless ventures and create nuclear security threats that could have disastrous consequences for the entire world.
❗️ All those who continue to turn a blind eye to these actions by Ukraine, while supporting the Zelensky regime materially and politically, are complicit in its actions and share responsibility for the crimes it commits.

⚡️ Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation:
The West is once again staging anti-Russian provocations
The Press Bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (SVR) reports that, according to information received by the SVR, an intelligence service of one Western country, in coordination with its Ukrainian proxies, intends to stage yet another anti-Russian spectacle.
This time, the spectacle is set in Latin America, with a storyline straight out of a third-rate narco crime drama.
❗️ The plan is to accuse Russia of illegally supplying weapons to drug cartels and other organised criminal groups in Venezuela, Colombia and Mexico.
To this end, Russian-made weapons captured by the enemy during the special military operation are already being brought into these countries. Meanwhile, fabricated audio and video materials are being produced as bogus “evidence” of Russians allegedly supplying weapons to Latin American recipients through intermediaries.
To lend the story greater credibility, the fake “evidence” is expected to be supplemented with forged documents allegedly linking members of the Russian Armed Forces to the “scheme”.
The masterminds behind the provocation naively hope that this will undermine Russia’s constructive relations with countries in the region and pressure Latin American governments into supporting the West’s anti-Russian course.
👉 In reality, the Russophobes will only succeed in once again revealing their complete lack of moral restraint and their reliance on the same outdated playbook.
***
From the very outset of the Ukrainian conflict, the information war waged by Euro-Atlantic elites against Russia has relied on fabricating and amplifying the vilest narratives, with utter disregard for morality and the law.
The Bucha hoax staged in April 2022, which was then used to further escalate the confrontation in Ukraine, is a glaring example. However, such operations are hardly a new invention of Western intelligence services – they have long been firmly embedded in their playbook.
Suffice it to recall that World War II began after the Gleiwitz provocation of August 31, 1939, when SS men dressed in Polish uniforms attacked a radio station in the German border town of Gleiwitz.
☝️ The subsequent course of history, however, showed that the price of such staged provocations can prove extremely high – above all for those who organise them.
Российское военно-историческое общество

🎙 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's interview with VGTRK broadcasting company (Moscow, August 14, 2026)
Key points:
• President of Russia Vladimir Putin made it very clear that we will respond in kind to Western maritime piracy. We will choose the targets ourselves. They will include vessels operating in the interests of countries that have made piracy and plunder part of their official policy.
• We will not stoop to the level of the Ukrainian leadership, which celebrates on social media its terrorist strikes on beaches, dormitories housing young students and other civilian sites. ☝️ We will make our own methods far tougher, targeting everything that enables the West to fuel Kiev’s war machine. And we are already doing so.
• Hostilities should stop only when there is a long-term, reliable and sustainable settlement. If we were suddenly to halt now along the line of contact, we would, in effect, allow the feat of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers who defeated Nazism to be erased. That is simply not an option.
• As for the episode at the press conference of Aleksandar Vucic and Zelensky, where a question was asked about “how Europeans could help kill more Russians”, I saw that President Vucic was simply taken aback. Given Serbia’s enormous contribution to the Victory over Nazism, we would of course like to hear some reaction from our Serbian friends.
• The metastases of Nazism continue to resurface in German society under Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who openly speaks of the need to make Germany Europe’s leading military power again. Does he understand what the word “again” means in this context? 👉 I am not sure.
• We do not refuse to talk with US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. If they come, they know that President Vladimir Putin is ready to receive them once again. The question is what they will bring with them.
• We do not issue ultimatums. We have submitted a number of questions to the US State Department and asked for clarification, including regarding intelligence data and the fact that the US is much more deeply involved in organising and carrying out strikes deep inside Russia against civilian targets. We will await a response.
• Our Turkish colleagues are once again saying that some arrangement should be reached to ensure that shipping is not targeted. ❗️ But we did not start this. When a Ukrainian drone strikes a Turkish bulk carrier, tanker or other civilian vessel, or hits ships linked to US companies Chevron and ExxonMobil, neither Turkiye nor the US publicly states that such actions by Ukrainian terrorists are unacceptable.

🎙 Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s answer to a media question regarding Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s statement on a proposal for Russia and Ukraine to introduce a moratorium on military activities in the Black Sea (August 14, 2026)
❓ Question: Has the Russian Side received Turkiye’s proposal to introduce a moratorium on military activities in the Black Sea, and is it prepared to consider such an option?
💬 Maria Zakharova: We traditionally give careful consideration to all peace initiatives put forward by our foreign partners, especially by Turkiye, which is an important regional player and our neighbour on the Black Sea.
Turkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan recently said in a media interview that Ankara had conveyed proposals to the Russian and Ukrainian sides on introducing a moratorium on military activities in the Black Sea.
❌ The Russian Side has not received through official channels any formal Turkiye’s proposal setting out the specific terms of this initiative.
If this refers to a one-sided arrangement along the lines of the 2022-2023 scheme, better known as the Black Sea Initiative, under which Moscow suspended military activities in the Black Sea – more precisely, retaliatory measures to protect Russian port infrastructure and energy facilities – then returning to that format would be inadvisable.
☝️ The arrangement was conditional on reciprocal measures by the other side. Those measures never followed.
At the time, as you may recall, we agreed to the moratorium in exchange for access for Russian agricultural products to global markets.
However, the West demonstrated a bad-faith approach: the humanitarian corridor we provided came to be widely used for terrorist attacks against Russian civilian and military facilities, while Russian agricultural products remained under sanctions. This ultimately led to the termination of the Black Sea Initiative.
Today, we regularly face brazen acts of terrorism carried out by Ukrainian drones in the Black Sea against civilian vessels from coastal states, several times a month. We regard these attacks as a deliberate policy aimed at destabilising civilian shipping in the Black Sea region, further escalating tensions and prolonging the conflict, with the open acquiescence of neighbouring countries in the region.
At the same time, we see no prerequisites for the situation to improve and, consequently, no grounds for half-measures that merely give the Kiev regime a temporary respite.
We have recently seen a growing number of international calls for a ceasefire and for settling the situation around Ukraine through familiar short-term arrangements.
Our position on these proposals and on the issue as a whole remains unchanged 👉 A sustainable and long-term settlement of the Ukrainian crisis is possible only if its root causes are eliminated.
❗️ First and foremost, this means removing the security threats created by #NATO’s eastward expansion and attempts to draw Kiev into the alliance.
It is equally important to secure guarantees for the restoration and observance of the legitimate rights of the Russian and Russian-speaking population in the territories that remain under the control of the Kiev regime.
🎙 Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's comment regarding the Ukraine crisis (August 13, 2026)
💬 With each passing day, the Kiev regime’s ability to withstand Russia’s special military operation diminishes. <...>
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), unable to deliver effective strikes against Russian military facilities, persist in their attempts to attack civilian infrastructure across various regions of Russia and to target civilian population.
The following serve as illustrative examples 👇
▪️ Belgorod Region. From August 5 to 11, as a result of AFU strikes, 12 civilians were killed and over 100 were wounded, including two boys, aged four and nine.
▪️ Bryansk Region. From August 5 to 11, two persons were killed and 12 were wounded by strikes perpetrated by Banderites.
▪️ Voronezh Region. On the night of August 11, a civilian was killed and two others were wounded as a result of an enemy drone attack on Voronezh.
▪️ Donetsk People’s Republic. From August 5 to 11, as a result of shelling and AFU drone strikes, four persons were killed and at least 31 were wounded, including a boy born in 2014 and a girl born in 2009.
▪️ Zaporozhye Region. On August 6, in the village of Dolina, a drone attacked a passenger bus as passengers were boarding at a stop, wounding six civilians.
▪️ Krasnodar Territory. In Novorossiysk on August 9, a civilian was injured by falling debris from a downed Ukrainian drone; whilst on the night of August 12, as a result of a large-scale drone attack, a child aged eight was killed and eight others were wounded, including a child aged six and a woman <...>.
▪️ Kursk Region. From August 5 to 11, as a result of AFU drone and artillery attacks, three civilians were killed and 14 others were wounded. Another civilian lost both legs and an arm after triggering a mine camouflaged as a box, which detonated in a forest belt. In the border districts of the region, explosive devices scattered by Ukrainian militants and concealed in juice cartons have been discovered.
▪️ Lugansk People’s Republic. From August 5 to 11, at least 12 local residents were affected by AFU attacks.
▪️ Republic of Tatarstan. According to updated data, as a result of Ukrainian drone strikes on Nizhnekamsk on August 10, 13 persons were killed, including a child; among them, eight were citizens of Uzbekistan and one was a citizen of Tajikistan. Seventy-five others were injured, including 20 foreign nationals. In regard to this incident, the Russian MFA issued a comment underscoring that the crime committed by the Kiev regime was perpetrated in an attempt to cause significant casualties among citizens of states friendly to Russia.
▪️ Republic of Crimea. On August 7, two civilians were killed and one other was wounded by a drone strike on an apartment building in Kerch. On August 12, one person fell victim to Ukrainian drones in the community of Novoselovskoye.
▪️ Kherson Region. On August 8, in the residential community of Novaya Mayachka, a Ukrainian drone attacked an ambulance that was en route to a man suffering a heart attack, wounding both the paramedic and the driver. <...>

Russian law enforcement agencies continue to gather evidence with a view to holding the functionaries of the Kiev regime, militants and commanders of the AFU, and foreign mercenaries criminally accountable.
<...>
❗️ The neo-Nazi Kiev regime is threatening the entire international community. It has repeatedly demonstrated that it is capable of conducting terrorist and sabotage operations and provocations under foreign flags. <...>
The evidence of NATO countries’ direct involvement in the Kiev regime’s terrorist activity is mounting.
The media has widely disseminated documentary proof — so-called hybrid threat specialists from NATO-affiliated bodies – in particular, a man named Bart De Wachter – provided the Security Service of Ukraine with data on “priority” targets on Russian territory, incl the coordinates of fuel and energy facilities and commercial ships carrying cargo in Russia’s interests <...>.

🌐 From August 13 to 16, Krasnoyarsk is hosting the International Indigenous Peoples Forum – a unique platform for dialogue among representatives of Indigenous peoples from Russia and across the world, government bodies, experts and the business community.
The Forum’s main theme is “Indigenous Peoples in the Context of Biodiversity and Climate”.
🤝 The event will bring together 700+ participants from 14 countries and 27 Russian regions, including representatives of Indigenous peoples from Russia, Asia, North and South America, the Arctic, Africa and the Pacific region.
The Forum will be one of the key platforms of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and will highlight the contribution of Russia’s Indigenous peoples to sustainable development, the protection of their rights and environmental conservation.
💬 From the message of greetings by President of Russia Vladimir Putin:
Preserving the native languages, distinctive cultures and traditions of Indigenous peoples is an important issue on the global agenda that requires joint efforts by government agencies and international organisations.
I would like to emphasise that Russia is committed to developing constructive cooperation in this area with all interested partners.
🎙 Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's statement on the Kiev regime’s attacks in the Sea of Azov and Black Sea undermining global food security (August 12, 2026)
💬 Throughout the summer, the Kiev regime has been stepping up attacks on coastal transport, logistics infrastructure and civilian vessels in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, using unmanned systems and intelligence supplied by NATO and EU countries.
Key agricultural cargoes have come under attack, including grain and sunflower oil transported under foreign trade contracts.
👉 We would like to highlight several incidents involving casualties that illustrate Kiev’s criminal activity:
– On June 5, Ukrainian drones struck the dry cargo vessels Natra and Zircon in the Sea of Azov. Sailing under the flags of Belize and Palau, they were en route from Turkiye to the port of Rostov-on-Don to arrange the transportation of grain. Five people were killed and three were injured.
– In July, at least 100 Ukrainian drone attacks were recorded against commercial vessels in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea carrying Russian agricultural products to global markets.
• On July 18, the Marshall Islands-flagged commercial bulk carrier MV OMORFI, which was transporting grain, was attacked in Russian territorial waters. One crew member, an Indian national, was killed.
• On July 25-27, Ukrainian attacks damaged an export grain terminal in Rostov-on-Don.
• On July 30, the seaport of Taman was also damaged.
– On August 3, Ukrainian drones targeted the Cameroon-flagged vessel Nadezhda, owned by a Turkish operator, some 30 miles off the Russian coast. The vessel was carrying fruit and vegetables from Samsun, Tгrkiye, to Novorossiysk. Four sailors were injured, the engine room was damaged and a fire broke out on board.
• On August 3, Ukrainian drones also attacked another Turkish dry cargo vessel, Yaȿar.
***
Apart from civilian casualties and material damage to international merchant vessels and port infrastructure, these AFU strikes, which serve no military purpose and violate international law guaranteeing the safety of civilian shipping, have disrupted the dispatch of prepared cargoes along established export routes. They have caused delays in deliveries of grain, oilseeds and feed crops to international importers, the needs of which are met to a significant extent by Russian companies.
Against this backdrop, Russia's Armed Forces are taking steps to ensure the safety of navigation. They are carrying out precision strikes against facilities used by the AFU in the Black Sea to destabilise the maritime security environment, as well as infrastructure and vessels involved in delivering Western weapons and military equipment to the Kiev regime. This work will continue until the threats to security in the Sea of Azov and Black Sea are fully eliminated.
☝️ It is clear that the Kiev regime’s cynical military campaign aimed at sowing chaos on the global food market – despite Ukraine’s relatively modest share of global food production, however much the Kiev regime may try to claim otherwise – serves the interests of a number of Western countries.
It goes hand in hand with illegitimate unilateral restrictions in the financial, economic and energy sectors imposed by the Kiev regime’s Western sponsors, who are acting according to the logic of imposing a neocolonial “rules-based order”. Taken together, these actions exacerbate shortages of grain and fertilisers, drive up global food prices and increase the burden on countries of the Global South and East, which are being held hostage to the irresponsible policies of these “players”.
❗️ We call on the international community and relevant multilateral institutions to provide an objective assessment of the Kiev regime’s crimes, use every available means to put an end to its unlawful activities and ensure the unhindered export of agricultural products.
🎙 President of Russia – Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin took part in the final stage of the Russian Pacific Fleet drills (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, August 12, 2026)
💬 Vladimir Putin: Unfortunately, the conflict potential in the Asia-Pacific region is growing.
NATO is pushing into the region, new military-political blocs are being formed, and new weapons systems that pose threats to our country are being deployed or planned for deployment here.
Tensions are also being stoked in the neighbouring Arctic region, including over the use of the Northern Sea Route.
Russia has always advocated cooperation in the Arctic and once again confirms its readiness to work together and make use of the advantages offered by the Northern Sea Route – naturally, within the framework of existing international maritime law.
Those countries that want to work with us and show an interest in this are, first and foremost, our friends – China, India and other states.
***
The situation in the Asia-Pacific region is complicated, and there are plenty of problems.
We would also like to understand the position of Japan, our neighbour – a country that, under the pretext of the events in Ukraine and without looking into the causes of the conflict, imposed sanctions on Russia that were in no way provoked by us.
☝️ We do not threaten Japan. We have absolutely no claims against it.
On the contrary, it is Japan that has territorial claims against our country – I am referring to the issue of the Kuril Islands.
However, the realities that emerged as a result of World War II are enshrined in international documents. Even so, Russia was prepared to seek a solution with a view to concluding a peace treaty with Japan.
Back in the mid-1950s, the Soviet Union signed a declaration with Japan that opened the way towards a peace treaty. Modern Russia accommodated the request of the Japanese Government and resumed – I repeat, at the request of the Japanese side – dialogue on ways to conclude a peace treaty.
At that time, we developed constructive relations with a number of Japanese leaders, including the late former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, whose life was tragically cut short and who did a great deal to bring Japan and Russia closer together and narrow the differences between our positions.
Russia stands ready – and I want to emphasise this – to cooperate with all its neighbours, including Japan and other countries in the region.
***
We see that the authorities of certain countries, in violation of international maritime law, are attempting to restrict the peaceful passage of vessels operated by our companies. More recently, they have even contemplated seizing our vessels and selling off property stolen from us.
❗️ This is outright piracy and plunder. If such plans begin to be implemented in practice, we will be forced to respond in kind.
And not necessarily in the waters where raids on our ships and vessels are being planned, but wherever we ourselves deem it necessary and appropriate – anywhere, including within the Pacific Fleet’s area of responsibility.
Russia is strengthening its security both as a whole and in individual regions. At the same time, we are always ready to seek mutually acceptable compromises with all our neighbours and partners.
And we are prepared to do so on the basis of due regard for each other’s interests.

⚡️ Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation:
EU ready to do anything to prevent Russia’s return to international sport
The Press Bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (SVR) reports that, according to information received by the SVR, Europe’s so-called elites are deeply alarmed by the International Olympic Committee’s decision to lift sanctions against the Russian Olympic Committee and Russian athletes.
In Brussels and EU capitals, there is much lamenting that the IOC’s move effectively nullifies years of Western efforts to “isolate” our country from international sport. What has caused particular alarm among Eurobureaucrats, bordering on panic, is the prospect of Russian athletes participating in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles under their national flag and anthem.
In the totalitarian and fascist manner typical of Euro-liberals, they now intend to “punish” the International Olympic Committee itself. The plan is to “hit them in the wallet” by restricting funding for the IOC and other sports organisations that agree to allow Russians to compete.
❗️A fresh push is underway to undermine Russia’s standing as a major sporting power.
Europe’s “undertakers” of the Olympic Movement intend to step up anti-Russian propaganda among countries and sports federations that take a constructive approach towards Moscow, seeking to persuade them to sabotage the IOC’s “apolitical” decision.
The EU has already included Russian sports officials, including Russian Sports Minister and President of the Russian Olympic Committee Mikhail Degtyarev, in its 21st sanctions package. It is also considering visa bans and additional targeted restrictions against an even broader range of Russian athletes and representatives of Russian sports organisations.
Another effective way of “taking the Russians out of the game”, according to the EU, is to stage provocations against members of Russian teams ahead of competitions. This approach was tested in Munich in early July, when police detained members of the Russian team competing at the European Junior Artistic Swimming Championships on suspicion of “espionage”.
The intimidation, however, did not prevent the Russians from confidently topping the tournament’s overall medal table.
👉 It seems Russophobia has so clouded Eurobureaucrats’ judgment that they are ready to sacrifice the Olympic Movement itself. Yet the IOC’s latest decision shows that the global sporting community will not follow the lead of those seeking to bury Pierre de Coubertin’s great legacy.

⚡️ Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rodion Miroshnik:
💬 Over the past week, 43 civilians, including four children, were killed as a result of criminal actions by Ukrainian armed forces. Around 420 people were affected in total. Every day, Kiev regime militants fired more than 1,000 munitions of various types at civilian targets across Russia.
The most severe consequences followed a Ukrainian drone strike on a crowded beach in Arkhipo-Osipovka, Krasnodar Region. The Moscow Region also came under massive drone attacks, with strikes on residential areas and an industrial zone in the Chekhov Municipal District resulting in civilian deaths and injuries.
At the same time, systematic strikes on key substations caused rolling power outages in Crimea, a prolonged blackout in the Kherson Region, and prompted the introduction of a technological emergency regime in the Zaporozhye Region due to water supply disruptions.
Attacks on residential areas, industrial and logistics hubs, and infrastructure facilities were recorded in 16 regions located far from the combat zone.
The highest numbers of civilian casualties resulting from Kiev’s attacks were recorded in the Belgorod Region, Krasnodar Region, DPR, Zaporozhye Region, and Kherson Region.
On August 3-9, Ukrainian neo-Nazi shelling affected 419 civilians: 376 people, including 24 children, were injured, while 43 people, including four children, were killed.
Over the seven-day period, Ukrainian militants fired at least 7,061 munitions at civilian targets on Russian territory.
⚡️ Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's statement on the terrorist attacks by Ukrainian militants against Belgorod and Nizhnekamsk (August 10, 2026)
💬 On the night of August 8-9, the Kiev neo-Nazis, suffering defeats on the battlefield, once again took their revenge on civilians, launching drone attacks against residential areas of Belgorod. Six civilians were killed. Another 27 were injured, including boys aged four and nine.
Around 30 apartment buildings, social facilities, administrative and commercial buildings, as well as more than 30 vehicles, were damaged.
On the morning of August 10, the neo-Nazi Kiev regime launched drones at residential and industrial buildings in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan. Thirteen people were killed. Another 39 were injured.
▪️ We express our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed and wish the injured a speedy recovery.
The Russian Investigative Committee has opened criminal cases on charges of terrorism. All those involved will be identified and face inevitable severe punishment or military retribution.
The Kiev regime continues to commit crimes against civilians in other Russian regions on a daily basis, causing casualties among children, women and the elderly.
❗️ These strikes, devoid of any military purpose, are carried out deliberately as acts of terror.
We strongly condemn yet another vile attack by the Ukrainian Banderites.
We call on all reasonable members of the international community, relevant international organisations and independent media to categorically condemn Kiev’s terrorist crimes.
Silence will be regarded as complicity and as encouragement for further attacks against Russian civilians.
