vram problems - i7 6700 running macos sequoia
Hi,
I've managed to succesfully install macos sequoia on my intel skylake processor, however no matter what I try I cannot get the hardware acceleration to work. About Mac keeps showing 18mb of vram. I've checked many topics related to this problem, eg. https://elitemacx86.com/threads/how-to-enable-intel-skylake-graphics-intel-hd-graphics-515-520-530-540-550-and-580-on-macos-ventura-and-later.928/page-2, but nothing changes.
I've already installed macos monterey on my PC, so all my BIOS settings should be fine.
Is there someone with similar cpu to mine, that have managed to make it work? My guess is that it's all about the setup of bootargs and device properties, but I don't know what values should I try next.
Here is my device properties:

Can I upgrade my 2017 Macbook Pro (no-touch bar) SSD with a 3rd party NVMe while running Sequoia on Opencore?
Firstly, I apologize if this isn’t the exact right place to ask — I’m new to the Mac upgrade scene and trying to find the best advice. But I thought some of you experienced people must know solution to such a basic issue.
TL;DR:
I upgraded my 2017 MacBook Pro from Ventura to Sequoia using OpenCore Legacy Patcher. Seller says I need macOS 10.2+ on original Apple SSD before swapping to a third-party NVMe SSD for EFI firmware updates. I’m unsure if my current setup has the right EFI firmware or if I need to downgrade to Ventura first. Need advice!
Hey everyone,
I'm planning to upgrade the internal SSD on my 2017 MacBook Pro (no Touch Bar, model A1708) from the original 128GB Apple SSD --> 3rd party 1TB NVMe SSD (KINGDATA).
Here is my situation and would appreciate any help:
\- I recently updated (last week) my macbook from Ventura --> Sequoia and it is running perfectly using OCLP.
\- When installing Sequoia, I had to install an EFI folder as part of the process I believe.
\- The SSD seller on amazon states in the product description that I need to have macOS 10.2 or later installed on the original Apple SSD before swapping to ensure the Mac's EFI firmware is updated. Something to do with the EFI/firmware being able to read the 3rd party SSD.
\- My Mac only officially supports up to macOS Ventura, but now I'm on Sequoia through OCLP.
\- I'm worried whether the EFI firmware was properly updated or has been changed or something while I installed Sequoia.
\- I checked my System Firmware Version (previously known as Boot ROM Version) and it shows "529.140.2.0.0" but I can't find any information online on whether this supposedly EFI firmware is updated enough to support 3rd-party NVMe SSDs and avoid certain sleep mode issues I have seen people face online.
So here are my questions:
1. Does running maOS Sequoia via OCLP confirm that EFI firmware updates from Ventura or earlier are intact and valid on my macbook?
2. Should I downgrade back to Ventura on my original SSD to ensure EFI updates are properly installed before swapping? OR Can I just directly swap the SSD without any issues?

Beginner Confusion What exactly do I do with my UTBMap.kext once I generate the map?
So, I ran the Windows.EXE

Unable to install Windows to separate drive after Hackintoshing
Last week I converted my PC to a Hackintosh, which worked great. I cloned my Linux installation to my secondary drive along with Windows. Now during the Hackintoshing process I accidentally wiped my secondary drive with Linux and Windows. No biggie since I follow a 3-2-1 Backup strategy. Now I wanted to reinstall Windows and Linux, however I couldn’t install Windows no matter what. The installation would just quietly fail with a “Windows 11 installation has failed” message, no error, no nothing (Thanks Microsoft, really helpful!). I tried different USB drives and different installers (Rufus, MCT, WoeUSB), but every installation just failed with the same message. After six hours I gave up (for now) and continued with Linux, which installed instantly without any issues whatsoever. I find it crazy that Microsoft, who wants Windows to be user friendly, has such a terrible and unusable installer.
Does the installer have some kind of verbose mode, where errors are actually displayed?

Successfully installed macOS Sonoma on an IvyBridge with Nvidia web driver (kind of)!
https://reddit.com/link/1lmhffr/video/9ygky353km9f1/player
Ive successfully installed macOS Sonoma on my ivyBridge system. And then used OCLP to patch Nvidia web driver (not that straight forward).
At first I tried to patch with the latest version of OCLP but that didn't enable qe/ci. Then I used OCLP version 2.0.1 and it worked. After that I updated OCLP to the latest version and rematch and it still works.
There are some weird glitches with the blur effect but overall, the animations are smooth.
My specs:
* CPU: i5 3470
* GPU: Nvidia GTX 750
* RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600
* Motherboard: Some Chinese B75 ITX motherboard
* Wifi/BT: Intel N7260
I haven't fully tested everything yet. There's will be a followup post.

External Anker SSD enclosure is slow on macOS Monterey
Hi, guys!
I have this Anker 68AN25EN-BPA SATA to USB3 external enclosure, but in macOS Monterey 12.7.6 it works at USB2 speeds.
I bought it a long time ago and I know for a fact that it worked at full speed without any issues in High Sierra and Mojave.
However, in Monterey it’s completely broken in terms of speed or even how finicky it is to connect.
I’ve tested this exact enclosure in Windows and it works there at full USB3 speed, so I know it’s not broken, and it’s something to do with my macOS.
I’m actually running a normal legit version of macOS on a MacBook Pro 15" 2015, but I thought if there’s a community of people who understand macOS really well and would potentially be able to help me — it would be Hackintosh.
Also, I know it’s not USB ports of my Mac, because when I connect external HDD drives from WD or Seagate, or other USB drives — they work at USB3 speeds, and it’s reported in System Report that they’re connected at full "Up to 5Gb/s speed", unlike this adapter, that says it’s connected at 480Mb/s, or USB2 speed.
It seems like I have a chip JMicron JMS566 on that device, I was able to read the markings on a chipset, so my best guess is that Apple or JMicron or Anker screwed up the drivers for that device, and newer macOS versions are kinda not supported or whatever the hell is going on there.
My question is: any idea how to fix this? Is there any kext I could install that would solve this issue?
Or is there any way to perhaps update the firmware of that enclosure itself, if it's even possible.
Any ideas, guys? Anyone had this issue before?
I was using a Hackintosh for several years in 2016-2020, but it’s become a little too much of a hassle and I needed a laptop, hence why I switched back to a Mac, but now it seems like tinkering again with the system is the only solution.
I’d highly appreciate it, because all my research has lead me nowhere so far.
