Buying a real macbook after apple drops support for x86
I think it is time to make peace with myself that finally I need to buy a real macbook after apple no longer supporting macos for x86 cpu.
I really hate this feeling because of the price point when you need a computer with better specs. Sure Apple's arm cpu is already good, but how about when you need 16/18 gb of ram instead of the base specs 8gb? you need to add 200 dollars for that. The same way goes for storage. 256 to 512? bam another 200 dollar when you could just buy a 1tb nvme for 100 dollar
It's just that I can't stand with windows (for work) and I really like the handiness of unix based OS, but I also don't enjoy linux. And sometimes I need xcode for work too

Dualbooting Linux on Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15IIL05
Hi I learned that hackintosh repos for my laptop Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15IIL05 exist and I want to dualboot it with Arch Linux. I want to replace an unused windows partition with hackintosh.
I am familiar with unix-like operating systems but i don't know how hackintoshing works. Can dualbooting be possible? If yes how can i do it or is there a guide?

dual boot fail
someone please help me i was tryimg to dual boot my windows 10 pc with macos 14 and i was trying to change the drive letter of my usb drive on command prompt and i didnt really see my usb drive on there i seen a drive with no name so i thought that was the one so i changed the letter i realized that was not the right drive so i removed the letter bc it was a system drive i figured out the correct drive and i changed the letter and i rebooted my pc i had another issue with macos so i went to go back into windows and when i did i had a message saying reboot and select proper boot device i tried to change the boot order and nothing worked i dont know what to do now someone please help

Can I Dual Boot macOS and Windows 11 on My Laptop?
I'm relatively new to Hackintosh, but I really need to have macOS on my system because my software development class requires Xcode, which is surprising that school requires a Mac. Buying a Mac is just too expensive right now, especially when I think I have the power to dual-boot on my current Windows PC.
**Here are my system specs:**
* **CPU:** Intel Core i7-11800H (11th Gen) @ 2.30GHz, 8 cores, 16 threads
* **GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU + Intel UHD Graphics
* **RAM:** 32GB

I currently have Windows 11 installed on one of my SSDs, but I was wondering if I could format my second SSD to install and boot macOS on it. Each of my SSDs is 2TB, so space shouldn't be an issue.

Can I move my Hackintosh to real Mac?
I am considering buying a 2014 iMac just for the sake of getting rid of the tower case computer and making my space a bit more organised. Also I want to sell the hardware while it's still worth something. Would it work?
I don't need anything newer because my Hackintosh is running High Sierra and for the purposes I'm using this computer for, I'm fine with not upgrading
And another question, would it work to just stick my Hackintosh SSD into the iMac and boot normally?

So i have installed a fresh MacOs Monterey on my T480s using this EFI.
this is the complete specification of my T480s:

So, the question is, why i do feel like that my Mac is so laggy? i use neovim for my text editor but sometimes its freezes out of nowhere, i also use yabai for the window manager. i dont if its an issue with the hardware itself, or its because the fact that i just use another similar EFI to mine that it doesnt work smoothly. is there any way to diagnose it? like to know and to monitor where it goes wrong? thank you in advance!

Can someone help me solve my problem:
This is my first time using OpenCore to make a Hackintosh, I got to the installation on an external NVme disk of the macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 version. But when I reboot to continue with the installation it does not reboot and reboots again, checking the debug log I find that it gives me this error.

Upgrading Bluetooth chip in mbp 7,1
Hey all! I've been working on my mbp 7,1 for a bit, and I just upgraded the os to Monterey through oclp since that was the suggested one for my mbp. Everything looks good, but at least for Monterey, and this current version of oclp it doesn't support the old Bluetooth chipset. What type of Bluetooth chip should I be looking for to upgrade my current one so I can still use a newer os that doesn't support the old chip?

Anyone else having crazy red lines in Chrome Canary?
I know, I know, it's Canary. It's beyond beta it's like alpha.
But, I've mained it for years on my hackintosh and all has been fine until recently. Now Chrome Canary has these crazy lines and it's unintelligible (though I powered through for a few weeks before finally switching to Chrome Beta)
What's crazy is, I just updated a client's hackintosh to Ventura, and then his did the same. It must be related to the Ventura update. Probably related to the HyperV and other changes that affected VMs too.
My real macbook here is fine on Canary, though it's on Sonoma
hm - just tried it on my side Sonoma install on the hackintosh and it's fine. now I can't up it to Sonoma on the Ventura partition, but maybe it's related to some old user data?
if anyone experienced this or solved this, do let me know!

USB Issues on Haswell based Xeon
Hi everyone, I built a hackintosh on a Dell 5810 with 64gb of ram and a xeon 2660. I did this through Proxmox, and I got the install done correctly for the most part, GPU (rx570) working on metal, dedicated SSD for it, etc. The only issue I am really struggling with now is the USB. I initially tried with passing USB ports through and they work to a point, but really struggling with hot plugging, speed and weird stability issues, and the limit in the GUI as well. I decided to Passthrough all three USB controllers which is a c610/x99 series and it doesn't really work either. The keyboard/mouse work at the boot menu just fine but as soon as Sonoma gets to the login screen it moves like molasses, very laggy, almost unfunctional. What I have tried to resolve this thus far:
- use the USBMap tool to map the ports, however it does not see the usb 3 ports at all.
- The USB 2 ports are detected, but are dog slow after setting it to USB 2 and mostly unresponsive.
- Tried the USBX and legacy USB kext with no difference.
Note:
- All Controllers and devices are in their own IOMMU group
- Blacklisted the controllers proxmox vfio
- Disabled the controller completely in proxmox
I have another Haswell based system with different USB controller from Intel that I have working in this method, but on this chipset it just seems broken. Is there anything else to try or kext somewhere for it? I am thinking of just buying a dedicated PCI controller at this point, any recommendations for Sonoma?

Graphics card problems since updating to macOS 14.4
Hello,
I am posting this because I've been having problems with my hackintosh since upgrading to macOS Sonoma 14.4... Before this update, no problem, everything worked perfectly. I could easily do video editing and occasionally play graphics-intensive games. But since the update, I can't do the same: when I launch greedy operations such as exporting a video to Premiere Pro or simply a game like Farming Simulator, I have about ten minutes left before I systematically get a black screen, the graphics card fans making an abnormally lot of noise. At this point I'm forced to restart and I lose the work in progress. Perhaps it's an H264 graphics acceleration problem?
As my Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX580 8G graphics card is (or at least was) natively supported on macOS, I've never given much thought to graphics problems and so need some help...
If it helps, I'm now running macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 with Opencore Legacy Patcher (OCLP) patches. I can provide my EFI file and/or logs if required.

OpenCore: Ubuntu Custom Entry Not Booting
I have a MacBook Air 7,2 set up with OpenCore; and I'm trying to dualboot Ubuntu. I'm running into an issue with the custom boot entry... When I created an entry with efibootmgr, it worked fine; when I typed "FS0:\\EFI\\ubuntu\\grubx64.efi" into OpenShell, it booted then too! I even went as far as copying the path from the working boot entry to the custom one... Which didn't yield a favorable result! -- The error being something to the tune of "failed - image not found", before booting back to the OpenCore boot selector.
Also, a lesser problem has been getting a custom icon working for the Ubuntu partition... Setting the 'PickerAttributes' value to 17 removes the MacOS partition icon, and doesn't read the grubx64.efi.icns file...
I would appreciate any help on the subject(s)... I feel lost as to what I should be tweaking at this point.

Can someone help me with fixing my Hackintosh?
Heads up first, I'm not a pro hackintosh guy. I worked my ass off exploring how to build one and actually did it almost 10 years ago. It's a Haswell Hackintosh built in 2015 using Clover.
A while ago I was trying to upgrade from High Sierra to Mojave, change from Clover to Open Core and in the process I f***d something up so now Spotlight doesn't work, and booting seems to be slower.
At the time I thought I had f**d it to the point I lost everything but somehow I managed to get it to boot up again and haven't touched anything since.
I was hoping someone can help me fix it now, I am even willing to pay 20 or 30 $, not much, but it's all I can afford right now.

What is the problem?
So i made a sucsess instalation of macos 12 on my Lenovo L14. But of course i want the latest i want macos sonoma. but there is a problem. On macos 12 it boots into installer under 2 minutes but on 12+ (I tried ventura too) it just stuck at approx 33% and then it just stays. I waited 5 mins but no sucsess. here are ny specs:
16 gigs of RAM
512GB SSD
intel i7 10th gen
graphics card built in CPU
Motherboard NM-C631
Any suggestions what to do?

Best macOS version for my PC
I have a PC with the following configuration:
i5 6500, RX 580 8 GB, 512 GB NVMe, 32 GB DDR4 RAM
I already have a ready EFI for installing macOS from Mojave up to the latest version, but I’d like to know which version I should install.
I will be doing video editing using Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve, as well as music production and mixing using Logic Pro X.
Which version of macOS would give me the best performance for these activities?
Note: The app versions don’t need to be the most recent. I’ve been using a 2012 MacBook Pro running Catalina for a long time, so I’m familiar with older versions, but since this Hackintosh is more powerful, I’m unsure which macOS version to use.

Most stable/reliable version?
A while ago I built a Sonoma hackintosh since my hardware is compatible. It wasn't the smoothest experience though, and it froze constantly (M.2 SSD, decent specs).
I want to try again, but maybe with a different version, since I don't think newest version means best performance. Which version is generally the most stable and reliable?
