Which OS should I update to from Mojave?
I never updated my OS since building my hackintosh several years ago. Probably should have because I feel a bit rusty and tentative about tweaking anything now since it feels foreign.
But anyway, some apps are requiring an update and I'm wondering if I should update to the most current macOS Sonoma, or was there a better OS that runs most optimally for hackintosh users?

Issue with mouse hover
I've just installed Sonoma and it works mostly ok. Though I've ran into this issue where the OS doesn't seem to know where my mouse is until I click. The cursor itself is displayed where it should be and all, but if I right click something on the dock then I can't really click anything in the menu. If I hold the right click and then hover to what I want to do in the menu then it works. I also went to the website pointerpointer.com to confirm my suspicions and It certainly wouldn't locate it correctly it locates where my last mouse click was.
I'm not sure what could be the cause of this issue, everything else seems to work as expected. I tried to redo the USB map, but it's still happening. It could very well have to do with Sonoma, I had tried Ventura and this issue was not present.
I'm running open core 0.9.6 and this is my HW:

I am a bit new to hackintoshing, well not new but last time i tried it was the intel Haswell Era, and things were a bit easy. From that things have changed

I am using Open Core 0.9.5.
i have built SSDTs using SSDT time. I'll link the EFI folder for you check.
I built the USB in windows and it boots like 80% of the time. To this point was solving problems one at a time and i got to this point, the installer boots 80% of the time.
Here is the EFI: EFI Folder

Now My Problem is that i want to install Mac OS on my WD Green M.2 SATA SSD, I have Windows on My NVMe Drive, i want to Dual Boot Both the OS and use the HDD for storage.
The Sata Drives are recognised in the Disk Utility during the install and I can Reformat it to APFS in GPT easily, it works, My laptop has an AMD Sata Controller so added the device IDs in the info.plist of ctlnaAHCIPort.kext for it to support the controller and recognise my drives.
The Installer Installed Mac OS Monterey with no problems, but when the installer finishes and my laptop reboots, in verbose mode it gets stuck on this very part, It says it is validating Basesystem.dmg and after that it something about Airportitlwm.kext and it gets stuck, I have left it for 2 hours and nothing happens. I thought the Airportitlwm.kext is causing problems so i removed it, and the its stuck on Validating Basesystem.dmg, and it doesn't goes further.
I am out of options at this point, i cannot find solution on forums, So i thought i should just post and hope somebody helps out.
If you guys have any idea how to solve this, please help out.

Future problems with dGPU
I recently installed my first macOS High Sierra hackintosh and I wanted to upgrade to new versions, but the fact is that I have a gtx 1050ti, which is not supported on newer versions. I know that it can be disabled and new mac OS can be installed on my intel hd 630, and then patched using OpenCore Legacy Patcher and in theory my video card should start, but I'm thinking of buying myself an rx580 8gb for my system and I have a few questions:

If I still don't buy the rx580 in the near future and install macOS ventura using oclp, will there be problems in order to change the video card?

And wouldn't it be better for me to wait for the purchase of the rx580, so that I wouldn't have any problems later and stay on high sierra for now?

Computer Monitors Shut Off After Period of Time
Hello!
I've been using my Hackintosh for a couple of years now but have recently run into issues with my computer monitors showing picture. At random points in time, all my screens will go black. I've tried unplugging the HDMI and putting it back in, unplugging my graphics card and plugging that back in, cleaning the inside of my computer, replacing cables to my graphics card, and I even bought a power distribution unit to ensure I'm not having any power issues. The only thing that seems to fix the issue is to shut off power to everything and wait several hours. The screens don't shut off when I'm using any particular software, it seems random. If anyone could give me some advice that'd be incredibly helpful.

ok so i fixed my random reboot issue and modified my kexts then after finishing setup and like installing some apps i noticed like this one issue where its like the from now and then i feel like the animations lags 1% or 3% you knwo like when i minimize a tab it lags if im doing it for the first time
then i upgraded to sonoma which turned off my wifi and i fixed that using this custom kext
Only use this on Sonoma beta 5 and onwards!

no wifi on ventura/sonoma
been configuring my efi for the last day to have a successful install of montrey, ventura, sonoma work, however when i upgrade from monterey with working wifi to ventura or sonoma i cant seem to get the wifi configured i followed this video: https://youtu.be/xPqxfGlxs68 (dudes not the best at english but explains it like any other video ive seen) and everything goes according to plan untill i try patch with opencore patcher after booting with bios disabled it cant detect any root changes that need to be patched. im sure i did the process right cos i did it a few times with photos as reference, any help would be appreciated cheers.

Bluetooth Suddenly Stopped Working
Hi all, I had a successful run making a Hackintosh out of a thinkpadt480 about a year ago. There are still issues, but most of them were resolved (still if you have clues with HDMI would be helpful). Anyway just recently, my Bluetooth stopped working. I can't remember updating to a new version of macOS. I have Ventura 13.6.1. I didn't mess around with EFI, only using OCAuxillaryTools to upgrade it once in a while. But the only thing I do remember is booting into Windows a couple of times (by accident) and changing the bootloader into GUI (which is a normal occurrence, I change it quite often from GUI to non-GUI). Then Bluetooth suddenly wouldn't turn on and when by rare chance it did it would be loading forever never fully turning on (I did have an issue before it completely died where if you turned it off it remained off until restart).

I read in another post, but can't remember the details that when logging into Windows it changes the Bluetooth firmware or dumps it or something and then when you log back into macOS the firmware is wrong. So, a little backstory..
We're a team of South Korean developers who decided to challenge ourselves.
Since the launch of the M1, we've been trying to run macOS Big Sur for ARM on a non-apple CPU.
After a very long time, we've managed to develop an emulation layer that sits between the chip and the operating system, that emulates the environment that the M1 has, that means, emulating apple's firmware.
It isn't flawless, and there were some things that we still haven't managed to fully emulate, such as the Security Enclave. This is why the system has to be patched while still on an M1 Mac, and only then it can be loaded onto the Surface Pro X.
We realize that macOS Big Sur is a bit old now, but it was too difficult to change our patches to work with a newer version of macOS so we stuck with that.
It's important to mention that our emulation layer runs independently of Windows for ARM, and not on top of it.
Now, after all that work, we did manage to get macOS to boot, but there are still a lot of things that need to be done.
The system doesn't have graphics acceleration, and at first it would not even boot without it. Apparently the arm based versions of macOS simply don't have the ability to run without graphics acceleration (If the chip is the cause for that, of course) support from the chip. So we had to patch the system to even boot.
The entire process took more than 6 months (Just for the graphics!!),
And even though it's far from usable, it's a start.

After a few days, I’ve successfully managed to boot into my Cardinal-based system. Everything works almost fine: USB 3.2, audio, sleep.

Specifically, the Ethernet controller on this board is the Asix AX88179. Drivers are easier to find, but I’ve tried every version from 1.2 to 2.4, and none of them worked.

Chipset: AMD A77e Fusion. I didn’t find much information, but it’s the same used on thin clients with AMD RX CPUs.
​
I’ve modded the BIOS to enable above 4G decoding and enable xHCI handoff.
​
This success showcases how versatile OpenCore can be. My next step will be getting it to boot from an RTL9210-based NVMe enclosure and upgrading the GPU to RX 6600 XT.

Followed the Dortania OpenCore and NootedRed guides + lots of googling to get here!
Specs:
Razer Blade 14 (2021) - Ryzen 9 5900HX + Radeon iGPU with NootedRed, RTX 3060 (Disabled with custom SSDT), 16GB RAM, ALC897 Audio Codec with AppleALC, Changed Wi-Fi card to Intel AX210 and NVMe to Patriot P300.
Used Karabiner-Elements to make the Caps-Lock light work.
Everything is working well! Took me an entire week of troubleshooting to get to this point as this is my first ever attempt at a Ryzentosh (or a Hackintosh in general) but I'm super happy with the end result! :)

Assistance Needed: MacOS Installation Error Following Guide
I recently came across a blog post on "How to Install MacOS Sonoma in
VMware on Windows" at

I followed the steps outlined in that guide meticulously, using the
exact ISO file provided on that website. However, I have encountered a
persistent error that I cannot seem to resolve. The error message I am
encountering is as follows:

Budget NUC that will run Sonoma.
Been looking around for a while. Need a computer for my big rig but needs to have a small footprint. I assume a NUC is the best option. Out of the box, what is the best budget NUC that will run Sonoma with all functionality (Bluetooth, wifi, hdmi, etc.)? Preferably no more than $200. I’m up to the challenge of making it work as I’ve built several hacks but these little pcs are a new animal to me.

Success Local LLM (Chat AI) on Hackintosh
Large language models (LLMs) are artificial neural networks used to understand and generate language, the most salient example being ChatGPT. LLaMA is a family of LLMs trained by Meta (Facebook) that's widely popular for local LLM use.
Local LLM is simply running a LLM using your own hardware. Offline, private, and often censorship free.
I experimented with running a local LLM on my hackintosh. There's a lot of development taking place in support of Apple Silicone Macs for their relatively affordable high-bandwidth RAM. You can run very large models with good performance on Apple Silicone Macs, especially those with large amounts of RAM. It work by directly interfacing with Metal, Apple's graphic and compute API on macOS and iOS.
Given that Metal is only available on Apple operating systems, hackintosh introduces the unique possibility of using AMD GPUs to run LLMs through Metal.
I used llama.cpp with codellama-7b.Q5KM model. My specs are 13900k, 6950 XT, 64GB 6000mhz RAM, and macOS Ventura.
Results:
With metal acceleration:
printtimings: prompt eval time = 10353.18 ms / 56 tokens ( 184.88 ms per token, 5.41 tokens per second)
printtimings: eval time = 4350.91 ms / 24 runs ( 181.29 ms per token, 5.52 tokens per second)
printtimings: total time = 14704.09 ms
CPU only:
printtimings: prompt eval time = 3340.08 ms / 65 tokens ( 51.39 ms per token, 19.46 tokens per second)
printtimings: eval time = 11059.49 ms / 122 runs ( 90.65 ms per token, 11.03 tokens per second)
printtimings: total time = 14399.56 ms
Overall, interesting results as Metal provides a unique outlet to interface with AMD GPUs, but the performance was certainly disappointing. This isn't surprising given Metal is optimized for Apple Silicone chips, not AMD GPUs. Also, AMD GPUs are not recommended for AI models for various reasons.
Just thought I'd share an interesting little experiment, as utilizing Metal cannot be done on Windows or Linux. But based upon these results, I don't recommend it, at least for GPU processing.

Succesful Hackintosh install on 2021 Zephyrus G15
After multiple days, I am happy to announce that I installed MacOS Monterey on my G15 (5900HS, 24Gb RAM, RTX 3070, AX210) and it is almost a perfect install.
I started with Dortania's guides, then used Plut02's Github guide (G14 2020 hackintosh ventura), alongside my own tweaks.
I know that others have done it as well, but I found no guide on the web for the G15 and especially not one for MacOS Monterey.
WORKING:
CPU power management (AMD Power Gadget)
Display Brightness control (BetterDisplay free app, map F7 to brightness down, F8 to up)
AMD Vega 8 APU (this was the main gatekeeping factor to hackintoshing our machines till now) (enable above 4g decoding and 2+GB VRAM in UMAF and use NootedRed.kext)
WiFi with Intel AX 210 card (it is recommended to change out the factory Mediatek chip anyways)
Battery management
Touchpad (interrupt mode, not polling constantly)
3.5mm headphone jack audio + speakers (4 of them, as we have 6- I couldn't activate the 2 tweeters)
All USB ports (including type C- but only HDMI can do video out, as that is the one connected to the iGPU)
S3 sleep (thanks to UMAF)
Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD and Samsung 980 1TB SSD
NOT WORKING:
Bluetooth (starting with Monterey, apple changed things, so AX210 is not working anymore- buy AX200 or a simple asus 400 usb adaptor- Handoff will not work, only with Broadcom chips)
RTX 3060/3070/3080- RTX 1000/2000/3000 was never and will never be supported in MacOS
Type C display out (mentioned above)
GUIDE:
You are free to use my EFI folder (in OpenCore Configurator generate your own Serial Number in the PlatformInfo section - you have to use MacBook Pro 16,3)
Disconnect any not required devices from the laptop (usb drives, fans, displays etc). Only use the charger and the install USB in an USB A port till the installation is complete.
In the BIOS (F2 menu on startup)- Disable legacy USB support, disable fast boot, disable secure boot and set the install USB as the first boot device.
When booting into the install USB (you can find guides on how to create an OFFLINE usb installer), use the BEFORE install EFI folder (it doesn't contain the NootedRed.kext, which would not allow booting). (copy the EFI folder only to the root of the EFI partition of your installer USB)
After the install is complete (you are on the macos desktop), replace the EFI folder (on the Hackintosh drive EFI partition, not on the installer USB partition) with the AFTER install EFI folder I provided (it has the NootedRed iGPU kext). https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/universal/oc2hdd.html#grabbing-opencore-off-the-usb
For mounting the EFI partitions on the installer USB and on the MacOs drive, I used MountEFI, you can get it from GitHub, it's an easy command-line tool to mount the EFI.
The two EFI folders were tested on Monterey 12.6.7 on 15/11/2023.
You can also adapt them to other MacOs versions (Ventura and Sonoma were tested), but you have to use some different quirks or kexts (MCEnabler for sure). Also, my config might work on other similar laptops, such as the G14, Flow x13/16 or others that have AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU combo. (2022 model might need other tweaks)
