After Intel support is dropped, does anyone think a custom X86 Kernel could pop-up? Or if something like QEMU could ever emulate Apple Silicon?

Like the title says.

The Hackintosh community is so large and passionate with such an insane amount of work poured into it that I find it hard to believe that some people wont at least try to keep it going.

For those who may not remember the "hackintosh" started before the Intel transition with PowerPC emulators being created to run Mac OSX on X86 hardware. So maybe after some hard work, the same can happen again?

NUCintosh 11 Extreme i9

Hello, I'd like to share an interesting Hackintosh Build using the NUC 11 Extreme Compute Element and RX 6800 XT.

Specifications:
CPU: i9-11900KB
RAM: 64GB DDR4 3200MHz
GPU: RX 6800 XT TUF
WIFI: AX210
LAN: I225-LM
Case: VARIERA :)

Overall, everything works quite well. My main issue is with sleep mode - when it goes to sleep, it seems to shut down completely, and when I wake it, it starts from scratch with crash reports.

Could you guide me on how to fix sleep mode on the 11th generation?
Thank you in advance! :)

OpenCore 0.9.5: How to Customize Boot Menu?

Hi.
I have two macOS installations. One on an SDD labeled macOS and the other on an SSD labeled macOS Backup.
Both appear in the OpenCore Boot Menu, but with the same icon and same name: macOS.
How to change macOS name in OpenCore Boot Menu?
Thanks.

macOS Sonoma does not boot after root patches applied by OCLP

I have a ThinkPad X1C2 and it has a Haswell CPU and HD 5000 Graphics. I've got a working installation except there's no GPU acceleration and that's where OCLP comes in.

On Ventura, OCLP did some root patches and I had a working install with acceleration but on Sonoma, when I do the same thing, it gets stuck about half through the booting process. The only way to fix this is to reinstall macOS.

Screenshot of where it stops in verbose mode. (hopefully readable)

Any idea how to fix this? I'll provide any info if necessary.

(Yes I know OCLP does not have support for hackintoshes but I figured it's worth a shot)

Strange problem with internal hard drive - folders take ages to open

I’ve been having an issue with my internal hard drives - whenever I open a folder on any of the 6 internal hard drives, I’m stuck on a “Loading…” screen for a while. The more files in the folder, the longer it takes. Folders with hundreds of files in them can take 60 seconds to load. But during this loading time, iStat Menus shows no disk activity, and the drives aren’t making seeking noises.

The weird thing is, in terms of transfer speeds, the drives are working normally. Copying files to or from the drives is as fast as expected, and opening files is instant. It’s only opening folders that’s slow.

And it’s only happening on the hard drives - my internal APFS-formatted SSDs are working perfectly.

It also feels like it’s getting worse, the waiting times are getting longer and longer. The problem didn’t occur suddenly, it seems to have crept in over time. The drives all worked fine when I first installed them 3 years ago.

All the hard drives are formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), GUID partition map. They’re all connected directly to the motherboard’s SATA ports.

And I have DriveDX installed, which reports all the drives as working perfectly.

I’m using the latest version of HFSPlus.efi from acidanthera’s github.

Specs:
Asus Maximus X Code (Z370), 9900K, AMD 6800XT, WD SN850X boot drive, WD SN750 internal drive, 6x Seagate Exos 16TB internal hard drives

Sonoma 14.0, OpenCore 0.9.5, IntelMausi 1.0.7, Lilu 1.6.7, USBToolBox 1.1.1, VirtualSMC 1.3.2, WhateverGreen 1.6.6

Sonoma on a Dell XPS 15 9500!

!img

What works: Wifi, Bluetooth, iGPU Acceleration, Camera, Touchscreen, all I/O including thunderbolt, Dell docking stations, HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C video out, Sleep

What doesn't work: iServices, due to an incompatibility with the recent AirportItlwm preview, only version which currently works with my laptop's intel card on Somona. I imagine this will be fixed eventually, so I'm fine with losing that for now.

Minor issues:

The device sometimes boots to a black screen for a while before reaching the lock screen. It's wildly inconsistent. Sometimes it boots instantly, sometimes it takes up to 4 minutes. Unsure what the cause is. Updating Lilu and Whatevergreen didn't seem to resolve this.
The latest version of VoodooI2C (v2.8) causes Sonoma to crash and bootloop instantly. I had to revert back to v2.4.4, what I was previously using, to get it to boot normally. (I'm aware that version is quite old but works perfectly, and would rather not risk boot failure by updating it again at this point)

Corrupted install?

So I think screwed up my 5 year old hackintosh install yesterday. I was making a boot disk for another computer when I accidentally launched the installer app. I immediately stopped it, it didnt seem to do any damage and I was able to work as usual and shut down properly. The startup process was normal but after the Clover screen it froze. Is the OS corrupted or can it be repaired?

2011 iMac with i7 and amd Radeon hd 6970m 2gb 32gb can’t run GarageBand or Logic Pro.

I bought this 2011 iMac from a thrift store a few weeks back, it had a password so I reset it and my intentions were to use it just to make beats. I found out that you can’t run GarageBand or logic on anything older that Mac OS Monterey so I downloaded Monterey and when I tried to use GarageBand there was a error that closed the app and said something about compatibility and me running on a vertical machine. That was after I was using GarageBand for a few minutes. So I looked up some videos and did some research and didn’t really get anywhere besides using the open core patch but that doesn’t do anything. Can someone please direct me in the right direction or send a video.

Will it ever be possible to activate SIP having the Wi-Fi working on macOS Sonoma (Broadcom tab)?

A simple problem that probably requires a complex if not infeasible solution. I ask this mainly because most non-App Store apps require SIP enabled.

Ventura SSDT-PLUG: enable or not?? (Kaby Lake)

On https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/universal/pm.html#enabling-x86platformplugin you can find a TIP which tells

SSDT-PLUG is not required on macOS 12.3 and up.

But otherwise, in the https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/config.plist/kaby-lake.html#acpi SSDT-PLUG is required:

SSDT-PLUG

Allows for native CPU power management on Haswell and newer, see Getting Started With ACPI Guide for more details.

So, which one of the two should I follow?

At the moment I am NOT using SSDT-PLUG within installed Ventura and seems it's running just fine.

I also re-tested the USB Installation without SSDT-PLUG and I can successfully boot the USB Installer.

Not getting Sonoma 14.1 beta ota offered despite having beta updated enabled and Apple secure boot being fully set up

I am trying to get beta ota updates to work and I don't know why it's not working. Regular and beta ota updates worked fine in Ventura.

SecureBootModel is set properly, ApECID is non zero and checking the

94b73556-2197-4702-82a8-3e1337dafbfb:AppleSecureBootPolicy
nvram variable gives me
%02
which would indicate full security. Using a t2 smbios and a securebootmodel that also has a t2.

Yet no ota updates are offered. I know there's no support for beta's here. But maybe someone knows how to fix this. Regular ota's worked fine and I updated to Sonoma 14.0 from Ventura using the ota update as well.

Maybe Apple has changed something that stops me from getting the beta's offered? I tried turning beta updated off and on again, which also did not work lol.

How can get I ota beta updates to work on Sonoma?

QUESTION New GPU for Hackintosh

Hi hackintosh community

I've been interested in hackintosh for years andI finally decided to create one on my desktop

But i realised i dont have a compatible GPU (Nvidia gtx 1660S...) and my CPU have not graphic chip

So i have thought to sell my actual GPU for buy an other, propably a Radeon RX6700XT (also sometimes I play games on my pc)

Do you advise me to sell just my GPU or the whole PC, and buy another one? Which is the most profitable? Also I dont have a big budget so do you recommend buying a second-hand GPU?

I'm so excited that I finally got my Hackinstosh working

Hello to all the hackintoshers. I'm the one guy that some weeks ago tried to do hackintosh on my pc but without success because of frame buffer patching for the iGPU. Finally, this morning, after countless tries I've made the iGPU work as intended with graphics acceleration so now I can play Minecraft and watch videos without any problem. I even got FaceTime, iMessage and Siri to work.

For anyone that is wondering here are my pc specs:

\-Intel i7 10700;

\-16GB of RAM DDR4 3200mhz;

\-Intel UHD Graphics 630;

\-512GB NVME SSD (this is the windows ssd);

\-1TB WDBlue HDD (for all the data);

\-120GB Sata SSD (this is the Mac OS disk);

\-Intel WI-FI and bluetooth AX201 160MHZ;

\-Realtek ALC1220 (I used the boot arg alcid=11 for making it work);

\-NZXT N7 Z490.

Hackintosh vs Windows on old hardware

I know that hackintoshes are usually considered to be geared towards high end productivity tasks, but I am desperately shopping around for an OS to revive some ancient hardware. I got a fat stack of am3 and lga 775 office PCs, and if at all possible I'd like to outfit them with barebones SSDs, and a super light, but user friendly, reliable, and approachable operating system, with a solid software ecosystem, and no hacking once installed. Something to get the really in need connected and doing basic computing for like 20 bucks cost to them at the absolute max, preferably less.

I started off considering chromeOS flex, but the lack of an appstore just absolutely nukes the usability. There are ways to hack full chromeOS onto an x86 system, but I worry about long term compatibility, same reason I'm not using the windows 11 hack. iOS is known to work on a LOT of systems, so hackintosh is my next prospect. We're looking at dual core systems, no hyperthreading, either 4 or 8 gigs of ram, already have a ton of low capacity dims so that's really no stress/cost to me if I go 4 or 8. I *could* upgrade to quad cores with bios updates, and luck. There are options for both platforms on ebay for like 5 bucks, before bulk discounts, and I have a quad core am3 CPU lying around already that I'm testing soon, but I am not holding my breath. These are dell and HP systems after all, from one of their worst generations for upgrade compatibility. Is there a version of iOS with app compatibility and basic security updates, that won't start pitching a fit about these old CPU instruction sets, and is light enough to run with only 2 cores? Normally I'd just bank on the quad cores and get windows 10, since 4 cores is enough for basic operation, but every dollar saved is a good thing here, and theres still no guarantee that the CPU upgrades will run with these locked down boards.

I am fully prepared to get about 100 people telling me that this is what linux is for, but we all know that chromeOS and iOS are a lot more approachable and compatible for people who aren't techies, and this is what these are for. If a light distro of mint all that will ultimately do the job, then it's all that will do the job, but I'll try anything mainstream first. If anyone knows a good iOS version, another OS for me to try, upgrade paths for these systems, or any other info related, I'd appreciate it very much.

Is my late 2013 imac compatible with Monterey and include universal control ? (Looked at google and it doesent specify)

Before you say to look at google or the OCLP website I have checked and it says its NOT supported for macOS Monterey but in a yt vid I watched it said it did support it so that's why I'm confused and makigng this post.

The feature I mainly want is Universal control where I can set a focus mode on my iphone or laptop and then it syncs over to my imac or where I can turn on a specific focus mode where certain notifcations are allowed and have that sync to the unsupported computer.

Help with OCLP on El Capitan

I recently acquired an early 2009 Imac that I wanted to patch and I installed el capitan on it. I promptly downloaded OCLP to begin the patch process but regardless of the version or where I download it from, it will simply not open. It continuesly gives the "quit unexpectedly" error and never actually opens. I rebooted many times and even re installed the OS just to be sure, but nothing so far... any suggestions?
