First, I consulted the maintainers and confirmed that the compression-related code is indeed included in the build via the compression feature (enabled by default). I looked through the codebase and did not find any additional validation specifically for the data.
Next, I needed to verify the behaviour of the decompress_raw function in the lz-fear crate. Based on my understanding of the documentation and source code, the output limit is determined by a parameter passed by the caller, with no other defensive measures in place. Therefore, I crafted a compressed data sample with an extremely high compression ratio to see whether it would cause a panic (which would then result in an Err being returned in Veloren’s code).
The result was negative—as expected, the process consumed well over 2 GiB of memory
DO NOT decompress the LZ4 file. It will take up 2GiB of disk space.

i hope u meant dealing with ipd patient load, when u have eg. 100 beds and 80 patients are enrolled, u gotta sort which ones to keep and which ones who still need the ipd care but gotta demote home coz u won't have space when same load of patients come tomorrow
This is real, but decisions have hierarchy
MO => R1=>R2=>R3=> SR Consultant
so if i want to make a decision the top levels shall aggree at least r2/3
that's how doctors deal with patients, consultant will always make sure nobody is messing up during their rounds
