About | Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb
Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb was born in Richmond, Natal. He completed his Qurān Memorization (Hifdh) by the renowned Hafiz Abdur Rahman Mia Saheb Rahimahullah at Watervaal Islamic Institute (Miā’s Farm) South Africa. Thereafter, he pursued his ῾Ālim Course in Jamia Islamia, Dhabel for 7 years and passed with distinction in every year. Mufti Ebrahim Desai completed his Mufti Course (Iftā) at Jamia Islāmia, Dhabel, India under Hazrat Mufti Ahmad Khanpuri Saheb of Dabhel for 2 years. After he completed his Iftaa in Dabhel, he went to Deoband to spend time with his Shaykh, the Grand Mufti of India and famous reformer and saint of the time, Mufti Mahmood Hasan Gangohi Rahmatullah Alayh for Islaah and increase in spirituality. Mufti Saheb is the Khalifah of Mufti Mahmood Saheb Gangohi Rahimahullah.
In 2011, Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb moved to Durban permanently and laid the foundation for Darul Iftaa Mahmudiyyah, Sherwood, Durban. He is currently the Ameer of the Darul Iftaa Mahmudiyyah where students enrol to study the Iftaa course. The Darul Iftaa caters for many facilities under the supervision of Mufti Sahib. Ulama who study under him to become Muftis, qualify from local Darul Ulooms, UK, US, Canada and many parts of Africa. Many of Mufti Sahebs students have established Darul Iftaas in many parts of the world and have their own fatwa websites that are affiliated to Darul Iftaa Mahmudiyyah. Mufti Saheb was a senior lecturer of Hadith at Madrasah In’aamiyyah, Camperdown for 10 years.
Mufti Saheb taught Fiqh, Principles of Fiqh, Tafsīr, Hadīth at Madrasah Ta῾leemuddeen, Isipingo Beach, South Africa for 10 years.
Senior Teacher at Madrasah Nu῾māniyyah, (Chatsworth, Durban) as well as Madrassah Hamidiyyah. Mufti Saheb has been teaching Bukhari Shareef for over 20 years.
Mufti Saheb is the guest of the world renowned Askimam.org website which serves over 123 countries in the world. The Askimam.org site hosts approximately over 40,000 rulings with approximately 80,000 hits daily.
A Sharī῾ah Compliant Business Campaign which also initiated by Mufti Saheb in 2002 provides a conference to tackle contemporary business matters in Islamic Commerce and Finance.

Mufti Saheb has extensively travelled viz. United States, Canada, UK, China, Zambia, Malawi and other countries for almost 15 Years and delivered talks and lectures on various topics in Masājids, Universities and various institutes and has been included in 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world for many years.
Mufti Saheb also holds Majaalis on Islaah and Tasawwuf every Thursday night after Esha Salaah at Masjid-e-Saaliheen, Sherwood.
PUBLICATIONS:
Mufti Saheb has published numerous articles and kitaabs. He recently compiled Contemporary Fatawa comprising of three volumes and also published a detailed commentary on the Qaseedah Burdah which is available at the Darul Iftaa.
Mufti Saheb has also authored two books, “Introduction to Hadīth: A general introduction to Hadīth and its sciences” and Madkhal al-Buyoo’ (Introductions to Islamic Commerce). His fatawa have been compiled in a 2-volume book titled “Al-Mahmood”. Another compilation of his talks at the Shariah Compliant Business Campaign is also available titled “Shariah Compliant Business Campaign”. The latest compilation of contemporary verdicts is also available in 3 volumes titled “Contemporary Fatawa”.

The thing is, this Naat 👆🏼 has been written for a special purpose. Many children from the neighboring country, representing the Shia, recited a manqabat in honor of Hazrat Ali in which the difference between 'Abd and Ma'bood was erased and the last degree of extremism was demonstrated.
On the other hand, this Naat has been written and it has been instructed to associate one's devotion and love directly with the Holy Prophet (sws) and to respect the Companions in the same way.
Therefore, all listeners are especially requested to make it very common so that muslims all around the world are known of the true facts. May Allah subhanwataala guide us and protect us, ameen.

Things to Do in Muharram ul Haram

Once someone asked me which thing isn't alive, but still breathes?
I was astonished that what can that thing be!
After sometime, suddenly one Ayat of Qur'an stroke my mind:
Allah ﷻ says in the Holy Qur'an,
وَالصُّبۡحِ اِذَا تَنَفَّسَۙ ﴿۱۸﴾
"And the breath of morning"
(Surah Takwir - Ayat 18)
I said that it is the morning that isn't alive but still breathes!
The questioner appraised me. But then I got confused as to how morning can breathe?
I went through different Tafaseer and found that Mufassireen (commentators) have done the translation of تَنَفَّسَۙ as 'to come to life'.
As a human being comes to life by breathing, just like that morning also comes to life. Some of them interpreted morning as inhaling air and night as exhaling the air.
Some said that لیل refers to the darkness before Islam. And here morning means the Light of بعثت of Nabi ﷺ.
Then I read a Tafseer yesterday, and I was surprised:
You know that when we breathe, we inhale oxygen inside, and while exhaling, we exhale carbon dioxide.
Allah ﷻ swears to the morning & said that when it 'takes a deep breath.
It is amazing that just recently science has discovered the process of photosynthesis, in which the trees extract carbon dioxide from the air and give release oxygen. And this process is at the peak in the morning.
It means that the percentage of oxygen in the air is more in the morning. And this is the 'deep breath' of the world. This process gradually decreases, becomes lighter in the afternoon time, and becomes the opposite in the night, i.e. the trees exhale carbon dioxide instead of exhaling oxygen. But next morning again the same process starts.
I was very amazed that a small Ayat of Qur'an had cleared such a big puzzle of science, hundreds of years ago.

* Make your wudhu at home
Please make your wudhu at home before coming to the masjid.
* Bring your own Prayer Mat
Please bring your own prayer mat to the masjid, and place it at the marked spots within the masjid.
*Children and High-Risk Groups Pray at Home
Children below 15 years old should pray at home, as should those in risk categories including seniors and those with pre-existing health conditions.
* Physical Distancing
Maintain Two Metre Physical Distancing at all times, including outside the masjid in the parking lot, and anywhere inside the masjid. Markers have been inside and outside the masjid where you should stand to ensure 2m distance.
*Sanitize your hands on entry and exit
If possible, please bring hand sanitizer from home, and sanitize your hands upon entry and exit.
* Wear mask at all times
Please bring a cloth or disposable mask, and wear it all times when in the masjid.
* No sunnah and nafl prayers in the masjid
The masjid will open 15 minutes before prayer, and close immediately afterwards. After the completion of the jama’ah, please proceed to exit the masjid in accordance with volunteer directives – do not pray your sunnah and nawaafil in the masjid.
* No socializing, handshaking, or hugging
Please refrain from physically greeting each other to avoid the spread of germs
