Andrea & Alexander - Loved Up (2024, R.i.O. Label)
Long time in the vaults, soon out in pop heaven: Andrea & Alexander, a handsomely nostalgic pop project by Andrea Noce aka Eva Geist and Alexander Arpeggio. Originally launched in 2014, revitalized in 2023, the project originated as a live set-up consisting of synthesizers, effect pedals, and analogue drum machines. From there it slowly metamorphosed into a crew of songs with raw minimal-wave grooves and romantically haunting English and German pop lyrics, loosely evoking the aura of Siouxsie Sioux, Gudrun Gut or Nadine Bal. After becoming a live mainstay in the Berlin based underground club Sameheads, they went on a tour through Lithuania and soon after several unfortunate troubles led to the break-up of the band, prompting both Andrea and Alexander to focus on their solo careers. Andrea became Eva Geist and released for various international labels, played live and formed the female duo As Longitude. Alexander founded his own label Eine Welt, took over the management of the renowned underground festival Camp Cosmic and created two musical projects with Cid Hohner, Otto and Aufgang B. Now, years later, almost becoming a Soundcloud corpse some Andrea & Alexander recordings caught the attention of the R.i.O. folks and just seconds later they offer six freshly recorded cuts of Andrea & Alexander tunes that stood the test of time as authentic, soulful pop music. “What are we going to wear for tonight’s party?” Andrea Noce asks in their song “Tiney Party”. The answer is “Loved Up” a musical celebration outfit of six sincere recorded, emotionally accorded songs, who make the dance, give verve a chance, to be there, in that moment of all moments. An album for the listener that likes to dance. In his head, on the local carpet. “Loved Up” humming Andrea & Alexander tunes.
Different Circles - Ping Volume One (2025)
In 2013, Different Circles launched with Weightless Volume One, a compilation that helped define a new minimalist aesthetic in electronic music. Twelve years later and after a six-year pause, the label returns with its tenth release: Ping Volume One.
Like weightless, ping isn’t a genre. It’s an approach to anchoring and propelling sound without relying on the steady pulse of a kick drum. Instead, a single percussive hit — the ping — holds the centre. Dry and high in the mix, or echoing distantly through space, it becomes a temporal anchor. Around it, the rest of the track can undulate, bend, float or collapse.
The term first appeared on Mumdance’s radio show, where playing “the pingy ones” from the Different Circles back catalogue became a running joke. In the Discord community, it evolved into a shared language, with memes, lore, and a mascot known as the Ping Devil.
In 2023, Mumdance aired The “Ping Report” a radio show that gathered everything into a coherent moodboard. It included original tracks made by Discord members for the show and set the foundations. From there, more producers began making ping intentionally, and over time, Ping Volume One took shape.
As the idea came into focus, Logos and Mumdance noticed that much of the Different Circles back catalogue, if not explicitly weightless, could now be understood through the lens of ping. It was a sound they had been drawn to long before they had a language to describe it.
Ping Volume One is a document of shared instinct. A collection of tracks connected by feel rather than formula, shaped by years of dialogue between a community of artists and listeners who were drawn to the same sounds & ideas before they had a name.

"So I learnt how to DJ in pretty much any context as a resident of the peerless Back To Basics in Leeds (7 years) and subsequently for WeLove at Space in Ibiza (9 years - somewhere around 90 gigs, jeeez). A real baptism of fire. The people that have inspired me the most in this game have all held key residencies and I have obsessively studied them, and the entire subculture since I was an earnest teenager, gradually finding my own path along the way.
It wasn’t a job, it wasn’t a vehicle to become famous, all I was doing was following the breadcrumb trail of the music I loved.
Along the way I made every technical error possible, any DJ who has been around the block will tell you that, we all have to go through it. First time I played the Space Terrace I could not cue my first record because my hand was shaking so much. Even after years of closing Basics week-in, week-out. This was a new scale and challenge. Took a long time to get my nerves completely in check, but it happened gradually. I went from playing the club of my dreams in my hometown to closing the Space Terrace, sometimes on a weekly basis. It was outlandish, but it made sense. I learnt that I needed to completely trust my instinct.
Over this time I’ve seen a lot of friends and peers fall by the wayside, this life is not for everyone and requires discipline — any devoted practise in the arts does, if you’re blagging it or using it as a device that will show, and if the trappings are the focus that will also reveal itself. The key is to fiercely protect your most childlike enthusiasm for your chosen thing, it’s your own private power source and do not allow any person or any event to taint how you feel about it. This is the engine room of whatever your passion is.
It took years for me to understand that the way I travel on this journey (I don’t mean transportation here) is equally as important as each destination. That I needed to step back and observe it all and enjoy each moment, rather than stress about it. When I let go, it had the galvanizing effect of things coming together. Now I’m simultaneously driving it but also relaxed enough to allow the winding road to reveal itself without throwing up my own “career roadworks”
Once more I have taken up a residency, and I’m proud to tell you that it is at the one and only Robert Johnson in Offenbach.
This is something I do not take lightly. RJ holds a completely unique position within the global ecosystem of clubs. For me, it’s within the lineage of the finest rooms across the years, those with legacy, history and attention to detail being at their core.
My view of residencies has always been about carefully presenting a fresh perspective, whilst also respectfully magnifying the existing story.
It is an honour to be entrusted with this and I look forward to writing a new chapter with Peter and the whole team. We begin tonight, opening the 26th Birthday weekend alongside Haai and Roman Fluegel".

A full madness on one of the most screwed compilations we’ve heard in a minute, ‘Reel Talk - Best of Douyin Tracks’ (named after China’s Douyin reels app) surveils the deepest recesses of TikTok’s hyperactive reel-music, lifted from countless DIY stings, sketches and skits, taking in 46-tracks from 15 countries on a fully future-gothic tip. It takes in mangled hard techno, screwed IDM, corroded neo-trap, Ukrainian bardcore, German baile funk, dubby house, all compiled like some future time capsule landing in the vicinity of Christian Love Forum, Rustie, CIA, Elysia Crampon x James Ferraro, but fully its own blitzed thing.
The Heat Crimes crew has spent the last couple of years following TikTok’s blink-and-miss musical impulses and extracted some of its finest examples, compiling 46 tracks from 21 producers from 15 different countries. As you might expect, there’s no big names - even a pretty deep Google session won’t turn up much, just a bunch of bedroom eccentrics responding in their own way to AI advances, memes and community initiatives. You don’t need to be signed to break out from obscurity when an algorithm can sweep up your “slowed + reverbed” edit seemingly randomly and lift it into the digital slipstream. The ideas presented are refreshingly wet, not attempting to glom to some hip idea of credibility, just grinding out concepts. Brazilian producer DJ Paulinho Da Puta doesn’t follow any expected local club formulae on his trio of contributions, for example: ‘Nullphonic’ is rough decelerated bloghaus with acidic siren synths and dungeon techno kicks, ‘Untitled 3’ is aggressively side-chained skeletal electro and ‘TΞRRØRPLX’ crossbreeds hardstyle and 808 Mafia-style trap.

Что-то меня субстантивно свёл с ума Zephyr Haze с нового альбома Prostitutes aka StabUdown. Супер минималистичный набор звуков, сэмплерный R'n'B stab и наэлектризованная ритмическая клетка, розовый цифровой кристалл где-то между Night Slugs и Deantoni Parks. В остальном на альбоме headhigh-синтезаторные пейзажи и skeletal, stripped down rhythms, но без всякого стриктли-ритм роланд-ретро.
It's another StabUdown Productions belter from Cleveland's finest, James A Donadio (or 'Jimmy' to his adoring friends)! This is the return of a Diagonal Records mainstay. Jimmy is one of the earliest and most cherished additions to the label's sprawling and dysfunctional family.
This LP is a little different. It's the culmination of 12 months working with a reappraised creative ethos. Throughout the process, Jimmy's interest in Krishna Consciousness & Dharma Yoga was deepening. Both went on to become deeply infused in this music. It's a body of work completely uninformed by the music of others.
The "Tinge of Ascension" LP is made up of nine tracks rich in a rhythmic sensibility. All tracks are ethereal in nature. Tempos are varied and rendered irrelevant. Jimmy's masterful use of sampling is on display as ever.
