They were shooting at us with guns and tanks – Palestinian boys shares experience of fleeing shelling in Jabalia on foot
“We were asleep when the strikes on neighboring houses began. There was shelling. We didn't know what to do. We were inside the house during the bombing,” Ahmed Salim, a Palestinian boy, told Sputnik.
“They took us to the Kamal Adwan Hospital, made us sit on the ground, and held us there. They had weapons and tanks. Many of my brothers, sisters, and cousins were injured in this hospital. They were shooting at us with guns and tanks; we were under siege. We were beaten a lot. I walked here on foot,” the boy said.
Truth hurts: Hungarian PM says the West is losing the conflict in Ukraine
“They are up to their ears in a losing war, they are losing the war right now. These countries have not lost since World War II — most of them, of course, because Germany lost — most of them won, they were on the winning side in World War II. And now they are faced with a completely new feeling — they are losing the war right now,” Hungarian PM Viktor Orban said.
Russia, North Korea to decide mutual military aid provided for by treaty - Putin
The issue of mutual military assistance is a bilateral matter of Russia and North Korea, only they can decide whether to limit themselves to drills and exchange experience within the framework of the article provided for in the concluded treaty, or "implement some provisions", Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.
"I want to say that this is our sovereign decision, if we will implement some provisions or not; where, how, whether we need it, or we will be engaged, for example, only in conducting some drills, preparing, transferring some experience – this is our own business. Just like how we are told all the time that this is a matter for Ukraine, how it will ensure its security - with NATO, without NATO," Putin said in an interview with the Russian media.

Statue of Queen Victoria defaced in Australia as legacy of Britain’s imperial past mars King Charles III’s tour
Yet another unpleasant incident linked to the specter of Britain’s imperial past has marred King Charles III’s tour of Australia.
The statue of Queen Victoria in Sydney's central business district (CBD) was defaced with red paint on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred just blocks away from the Sydney Opera House, where King Charles and Queen Camilla were scheduled to do a meet and greet with the public.
The King and Queen have faced hecklers and banners displayed by supporters of First Nations resistance to colonization throughout the visit. Australia remains a constitutional monarchy in which the British sovereign serves as the largely symbolic head of state.
🌏 Indigenous activist Wayne Wharton was detained by police after shouting "he's not my king" at the British monarch outside the opera house.
🌏 Independent Aboriginal senator from Victoria Lidia Thorpe unleashed a fiery outburst at the King during a reception in the federal parliament, shouting: “You are not our king. You are not sovereign… You committed genocide against our people. Give us our land back. Give us what you stole from us – our bones, our skulls, our babies, our people.”
🌏 Amid an ongoing debate about breaking ties with the monarchy, a host of Australia's top politicians, including six of the nation’s state premiers, refused to meet with Charles. Britain’s royal family has increasingly been confronted with issues of reparations for slavery and improved rights for indigenous people during visits to Commonwealth countries. In total, Britain could owe a staggering £18.6 trillion ($23.4 trillion) in reparations to more than 30 countries, a report by international economics consulting firm Brattle calculated in 2023. The issue has gained fresh traction ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa on October 21-25.

NATO shreds German reunification pact with Moscow with new Baltic naval HQ
German defense chief Boris Pistorius presided over the unveiling a new NATO naval HQ in Rostock, northeastern Germany on Monday, with the facility not only threatening to exacerbate tensions with Russia, but violating a key deal on the non-deployment of alliance forces in the territory of the former East Germany.
The Commander Task Force Baltic HQ “will play a crucial role in the preparation of military situation reports and in responding to regional challenges, including the protection of NATO member states’ interests against aggressive actions, particularly given the proximity of Russia,” Pistorius said.
“The Baltic Sea has always been at the crossroads of Europe’s history and it is much more than just a waterway. It is a vital corridor for trade, military mobility, and energy security. It is a strategic area of great geopolitical importance and a frontline in our collective defense against evolving threats,” Pistorius said, going on to accuse Russia of “challenging” regional security “on almost a daily basis.”

Missouri Attorney General to sue Google for censorship against conservative speech ahead of election
The Attorney General of the US state of Missouri, Andrew Bailey, announced the launch of an investigation into Google's censorship:
"I am launching an investigation into Google - the biggest search engine in America - for censoring conservative speech during the most consequential election in our nation’s history," he wrote on his X page.
"We have reason to believe that Google is manipulating their search results to deemphasize information about the Trump campaign prior to Election Day," Bailey told Fox Business.
‘Collective West has self-isolated and condemned itself to irrelevance’ – analyst
International relations analyst Gilbert Doctorow, in an interview with Sputnik, praised Russian President Vladimir Putin's firm stance at the recent BRICS summit, highlighting Russia's growing influence on the global stage despite Western efforts to isolate the country.
“Because of the important guests, numbering more than 25 heads of government, it has been impossible for major media in the West to ignore BRICS and Russia," Doctorow said, noting how this undermines the narrative of Russia's supposed isolation.
"The BRICS message of a multipolar world, of respect for the sovereignty and unique cultures of each nation will surely have an impact on Europeans' perception of Russia and of themselves," Doctorow added, stressing the long-term significance of BRICS in shaping global politics.
“This will be all the more the case when the United States puts an end to the Ukraine war by withdrawing its financial and military assistance to Kiev. That day will come very early in 2025 if Trump wins on 5 November; it will come with a slight delay in 2025 if Harris wins because Congress will resist any further appropriations to Kiev,” Doctorow speculated.
🇧🇴 BRICS summit shows there's an alternative to the Western-led global order – Bolivian President
Bolivian President Luis Arce, in an interview with Sputnik, expressed strong support for the BRICS summit, highlighting that the organization offers a platform where countries can share their ideas and be heard, fostering fairer and more inclusive pathways for those labeled as “jungle” by the West.
"It is important to consolidate [positions] and to show the whole planet that there is an alternative, that there is no single path, but there is an alternative to be able to act differently, but more justly, more equitably, providing more opportunities, especially for those countries – including ours – that have never had the opportunity to be heard," Arce emphasized.
"There is a bloc that is emerging and there is a bloc that is evidently weakening, diminishing its ability to influence the planet like the typical old bloc," Arce clarified.
“A lot of countries came to this BRICS summit, and it shows that not only Russia is not alone, but BRICS is not alone. On the contrary, there are many countries that want to be part of it, that want to participate in the creation of our new bloc,” the president stressed.
