Universes Beyond is the moniker used to label cards and sets printed for Magic: The Gathering that exist outside the canonical story of the planes and characters of Magic. Though Universes Beyond could be seen as a sort of creativity-fostering catch-all, more often than not it simply allows Magic: The Gathering to explore different IPs that exist outside of its universe, while adapting those characters and concepts into mechanics and gameplay that fit right into the 30-year-old trading card game. Essentially, it’s Magic’s way to cross over with beloved franchises, while also allowing those IPs to add trading card game adaptations to their portfolios without creating a separate, dedicated game.When this experiment into licensed IP was announced, Magic’s head designer Mark Rosewater said that Universes Beyond would only exist in “eternal” formats and stay out of Magic’s more competitive Standard format (https://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/657736566357278720/in-the-future-will-magic-sets-based-on-other). A consumer rights watchdog in Brazil has launched a legal challenge against Nintendo for its policy of "bricking" the consoles of users who violate the console's terms of service. This policy is a new addition to Nintendo's user agreement. The change took effect on May 7, just a month before the Nintendo Switch 2 launched. Procon-SP, the São Paulo branch of the Brazilian Consumer Protection and Defense Program, has raised a complaint with Nintendo itself, claiming the policy violates consumer rights.Via IGN (https://www.ign.com/articles/as-nintendos-ability-to-ban-switch-2-consoles-from-online-services-sparks-headlines-brazils-consumer-rights-watchdog-issues-legal-challenge), reports of "bricked" consoles have emerged since the Switch 2's launch. The ban encompasses paid online features like GameChat and online multiplayer, but also unpaid ones, like downloading patches or verifying Game-Key carts.Furthermore, it is the console itself that is banned, not just the user account of the offender. The arcade-style soccer game also proved to be popular in North America with a debut at No. 4.Grand Theft Auto 5 placed near the top of both charts, as the lists were filled up by a lot of older titles, including Mortal Kombat 11 and Mortal Kombat 1.Star Wars Battlefront 2 reached first place on both the North American and European charts for PS4 games. The title has seen a similar resurgence on Steam as players are seemingly trying to will Star Wars Battlefront 3 into existence.For PSVR2 games, Skydance’s Behemoth also placed No. 1 in both territories.
