Wanner onto the knockouts of the Conference League As the calendars winds to and end some Bayern Munich loanees finished their final matches before their break, while some were already finished. Nübel had maybe the best match of this season, but it came in a loss. Wanner picked up a yellow card in both matches Heidenheim played this week and although they are sitting in a relegation battle in the Bundesliga, they qualified for the knockout round of the Conference League. See who was in action this week and everyone’s current status going into the Winter break. FC Bayern MunichThere are nine players on loan from the first team.Germany – BundesligaThere are five players on loan in the German Bundesliga: Alexander Nübel, Franz Krätzig, Paul Wanner, Armando Sieb, and Gabriel Vidovic.Alexander Nübel – VfB StuttgartNübel started in goal for Stuttgart at home against St. Pauli. He had perhaps the best game of his season so far — conceding just one goal, saving a penalty attempt, and recording four saves. He also completed 92% of his passes. Unfortunately, his team could not score, and the lone St. Pauli goal was the winner. Nübel was the highest rated player on his team and was only outrated by his counterpart who kept the shut out for the away team.Stuttgart sits in tenth place on the Bundesliga table with 23 points going into the Winter break. They are also in 26th place of the Champions League table. They must finish 24th or higher in the league phase to make it to the knockout round playoff. Franz Krätzig – VfB Stuttgart Krätzig was on the bench for the 1-0 loss against St Pauli but did not make it onto the pitch. He has not played in over a month, and that was for the second team. We would not be surprised if he was either back in Munich or loaned to another team in January.Paul Wanner – 1.FC Heidenheim Wanner started for Heidenheim in both matches this week. The first was a home game against St Gallen of Switzerland in the Conference League. He played the full 90 minutes and recorded four shots — two blocked, one that missed the target, and one that hit the post from short distance. He also created one chance for his teammates to shoot. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. He also picked up a yellow card in the second half — most likely from minor conflict with an opponent.Wanner started again for Heidenheim in their return to league play on the road to last place Bochum. Bochum scored two early goals and Wanner could not help his team counter. He was unable to even get a shot off. Like the midweek match, he received yellow card — this time for a bad foul. Wanner was subbed off at halftime and Heidenheim fell 2-0 after the early Bochum goals.Heidenheim sit in 16th place, four points behind the current safety line. The finished the Conference League league phase in 16th place and will play FC Copenhagen in February in two legs of a knockout playoff to go to the round of 16. Armindo Sieb – 1. FSV Mainz 05Sieb started for Mainz on the road against Eintracht Frankfurt. He did not attempt any shots, nor did he create any chances for his teammates to shoot. He only attempted six shots but completed five of them. Although he did not directly affect the match, Mainz still won 3-1 despite playing down a man for most of the match. With two wins in a row against top four teams, Mainz have moved into sixth place going into the break. With this being the only competition Mainz is still competing in, they could make a run in the Spring. Gabriel Vidović – 1. According to a report from kicker (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich looks set to get most of its injured players back for the Bundesliga match on January 11th when the Bavarians travel to Borussia Mönchengladbach: Manuel Neuer, Josip Stanišić, Kingsley Coman, João Palhinha and Serge Gnabry are all expected to be available when the league restarts on January 11 against Borussia Mönchengladbach.Barring any setbacks, getting those five players fully back into the fold should make life a lot easier for coach Vincent Kompany, who is likely looking forward to working with an almost full roster once again. FC Bayern München v RB Leipzig - Bundesliga Photo by Marco Steinbrenner/DeFodi Images via Getty Images That would be...a shame. Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies has been closely linked to Real Madrid for over a year, but more recently, the Canadian has also been tied to Manchester United, FC Barcelona, and even a contract extension with Bayern Munich. According to a report from AS (as captured by Madrid Universal), Bayern Munich’s renewed interested and activity with Davies might have Real Madrid sweating it out: Alphonso Davies, for long, has been a priority target for Real Madrid and heading into 2025, the stars seem to be aligned for the Canadian left-back to finally make his way to the Spanish capital club. After all, the 24-year-old’s contract at Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season and a free transfer to Los Blancos appears to be on the cards, despite there being interest from Barcelona and Manchester United. However, according to AS, Bayern Munich are stirring the pot and are making an attempt to complicate matters, generating uncertainty around the ‘Davies Operation’. As per the report, Davies has already agreed on the terms of his contract with Real Madrid months ago. However, the deal has not been signed yet because it cannot be until 1st January. This is where the issue lies.In Munich, they are signalling that they are preparing a “final effort” to try to convince the 24-year-old to renew his contract. They warn that this story is not yet closed. Although Real Madrid are remaining calm, there is a certain level of concern, although they are confident that they have done their job and it is now a matter of trusting Davies to hold up his end of the bargain and wait until January 1.Recent reports have indicated that Davies is reconsidering what was thought to be a foregone conclusion that he would leave Bayern Munich. Real Madrid might really have something to worry about: Davies has not renewed his contract because Bayern have never met his financial demands. Initially, the player requested a salary of €20 million gross, which caused an uproar in Bavaria and nearly led to a breakdown in negotiations.Since then, Davies has lowered his demands to €15 million gross wages, plus a €15 million signing bonus. It is a significant amount of money, but less than his previous demand. The positions are still far apart, but there is still time.Bayern Munich offered him €13 million at one point and later moved closer to €14 million. Though they have not reached an agreement, they are getting closer. The ball is now in Davies’ court. Real Madrid have done their part, and now all they can do is wait. While Bayern Munich is publicly appearing to be more flexible with salary proposal, it will soon be time for everyone to put their money where their mouth is in this scenario. Who will emerge with Davies playing left-back for them in 2025/26?Looking for some commentary and analysis on Bayern Munich’s first half of the season, including a suddenly red-hot Bundesliga title race, the biggest surprises and disappointment, along with where Bayern Munich can improve? FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - DFB Cup: Round of 16 Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Was the coach destined for success at Bayern Munich? After leading Burnley to relegation last season, there was some doubt that Vincent Kompany would be able to handle the scale of the job at Bayern Munich. So far, rso good, though, as Kompany has asserted himself nicely in Bavaria. One person who had no such concerns about the coach is noted pundit Didi Hamann. “Vincent Kompany has proved people wrong so far but he hasn’t surprised me because I knew him from my time at Manchester City. He was a brilliant player and a leader, a very smart young man who speaks numerous languages. He’s got a great team and he likes them to take risks, there was friction when Thomas Tuchel was at the club but Kompany has everyone onside,” Hamann told Genting Casino. “Players have been dropped but none have moaned publicly, he is honest and open and his biggest asset is that connection with the players. They have plenty of respect for him and that is half the battle.”Kompany still has to endure what will surely be a rigorous second half of the season, but if his first half effort is any indication of future success, he should be just fine.

Pep wants Kimmich talks to start in January (TBR Football)With his team absolutely reeling, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants to try and get a head start on talks with Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich by starting a conversation in January: TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been informed that Pep Guardiola has given his approval to Manchester City to begin their approach in January to sign Joshua Kimmich. The German international, who is out-of-contract at the end of the current campaign is free to hold talks with not just the Premier League champions but also Barcelona, who are interested in signing him. Both Manchester City and Barcelona are particularly interested in signing Kimmich due to his versatility, as he has a wealth of experience playing in midfield and in defence.Bayern Munich, who assured the treble-winner that he would succeed Manuel Neuer as their captain from next season have spent the past six months trying to persuade him to sign a contract renewal.Kimmich has been excellent this season and seems inclined to stay with Bayern Munich, but this is his last chance for a big contract. (Yallakora via 90Min.com)Per at least one report, Liverpool FC star Mo Salah reached a agreement to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2025, but had second thoughts and turned his attention back to Arne Slot’s team: Mohamed Salah struck an agreement to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer next summer before changing his mind and reducing his demands to Liverpool in order to extend his stay at Anfield. Читать полностью…FC Bayern München Annual Meeting 2024 Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Bayern Munich has some big deals to take care of... Prior to Bayern Munich’s 5-1 victory over RB Leipzig on Friday, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen was asked what should be under the Christmas tree for Bayern Munich. “First of all, of course, a win on Friday against Leipzig, a solid top spot in the table - and under that lies the chance of making the top 8 in the Champions League, which we have worked hard for,” Dreesen told Tz (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). When asked about some deals getting signed, Dreesen sounded confident in the club’s people in charge of that area.“Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are in good talks. But patience is needed in various areas. Good things sometimes take time,” said Dreesen. “I already said in my previous role as CFO, sporting success is our top priority, but always in conjunction with economic sense. We have to keep the balance, because that’s also a tradition at Bayern. Which doesn’t change the fact that we absolutely want to try to keep Jamal with us. I hope he extends his contract. We are trying hard.”Obviously, Jamal Musiala’s deal is at the forefront of everyone’s mind...and Dreesen knows it. “(Musiala is) an absolutely outstanding player and still young, just 21-years-old. That’s often forgotten. He’s still not at the end of his development. I know from Max that they’re in good talks and I hope it will come to a conclusion,” said Dreesen. Last weekend, board member for sport Max Eberl said that the club does not print money and Dreesen understood the sentiment. “Max wanted to express that we have to fight to maintain our position at the top of Europe. And that we can’t just go to any old warehouse and fill up the wheelbarrow. We have financial conditions that we have to take into account,” said Dreesen. “Max has already said that we will not be signing a backup for Harry Kane. I can only underline that. We have a top team and I don’t see any need to act at the moment.”Looking for more thoughts and analysis of Bayern Munich’s 5-1 thrashing of RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga? Bayern Munich Frauen goalkeeper Mala Grohs was diagnosed with a tumor in October and has been fighting that battle every day since. There has been a breakthrough, however, as the medical measure taken have worked, which could allow Grohs to return in January per FCBayern.com: Good news on Mala Grohs to end the year: the FC Bayern Women goalkeeper, who was diagnosed with a tumour in October, is on the road to recovery. The medical measures and interventions have gone successfully. In the best case, the 23-year-old will be able to train with the team again from January. It was Grohs’ personal wish to provide an update on her current condition before the winter break, particularly for the many people who have supported her since the diagnosis was announced. She last played for Bayern in the Champions League game against Vålereng in early November and has been out of action since then. This is tremendous news in what was a scary situation. FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - DFB Cup: Round of 16 Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Would Manuel Neuer be a good mentor for whoever is Bayern Munich’s next goalkeeper? Bayern Munich Manuel Neuer seems to be on the verge of inking a one-year-contract extension with the club, which would carry his tenure with the club through the end of the 2025/26 season. Club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen would like the see Neuer be a mentor to his successor. “First of all, he should get fit again in calm and return to the pitch completely healthy. An experienced goalkeeper like Manuel, who has been playing for decades at a level that other goalkeepers around the world cannot match, is valuable for FC Bayern and can of course pass on a lot of his experience,” Dreesen told Tz (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). Who exactly Neuer might be mentoring is anyone guess at this stage. Alexander Nübel (on loan at VfB Stuttgart) and Daniel Peretz are two prime, internal candidates, while FC Köln’s Jonas Urbig could also be in the mix. Spain v England: Final - UEFA EURO 2024 Photo by Jose Breton/Pics Action/NurPhoto via Getty Images If the first Spanish winger signed from Spain did not work, try, try again Bayern Munich’s desire to fresh the wing position is quite clear. However, the club’s attempts to secure Désiré Doué in the summer window of 2024 failed, leaving Bayern with no option but to reload and try again. So what options are on the table?Looking over to Spain, Florian Plettenberg claims that the Bavarians will try to do what FC Barcelona could not and prise Nico Williams away from his current club Athletic Bilbao: FC Bayern are monitoring Nico #Williams. Max Eberl and Christoph Freund aim to strengthen their squad with one or two top-tier wingers next summer, depending on the situations of Sané, Gnabry, Coman, and Zaragoza. The 22 y/o Spaniard from Athletic Bilbao is expected to be available for €50-60million in the summer, putting him on Bayern’s radar.Specifically, the report refers to the release clause in Nico Williams’ contract, rumored to be in the €50-€60 million range. Williams is certainly one of the most highly rated young wingers in the world and demonstrated just why in Bayern’s own home country, impressing during the 2024 EUROs as one of tournament winner Spain’s best players. However, this would not be a slam dunk transfer. Williams’ current salary at Athletic Bilbao is said to be over €10 million per year, which could lead to the Spaniard’s wage demands for his next move to be sky high. Furthermore, Williams has never scored more than nine goals in a club season and is, at the time of writing, currently sitting on two goals for the season near the end of December. Bayern would need to trust that Williams’ production will increase exponentially if he were to move to Bayern.Looking for some commentary and analysis on Bayern Munich’s first half of the season, including a suddenly red-hot Bundesliga title race, the biggest surprises and disappointment, along with where Bayern Munich can improve? Borussia Dortmund v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Stuart Franklin/Getty Images Welcome back, “Bayern wants to raid Dortmund” rumors. You were not missed Bayern Munich’s desire to refresh the wing position is very clear. After splashing the cash on winger Michael Olise in the summer and attempting to offload star winger Kingsley Coman last summer, there were some eyebrows raised at the effort put in to refresh the wing position. However, for one reason or another, none of the wingers have truly convinced this season and have put too much of the attacking burden on the likes of Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane. Therefore, Bayern is looking for another winger. And it seems that search has lead to a rather surprising front runner, via @iMiaSanMia:Bayern want Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens (20). The Englishman is high on the club’s list for the summer. Vincent Kompany and Max Eberl are reportedly raving about him internally. His situation is being closely monitored, and Bayern have already gathered important information. Gittens is aware of Bayern’s interest. However, if Bayern wants the Borussia Dortmund winger, they will need to pony up the cash: If Gittens expresses his desire to leave in the summer, Dortmund are dreaming of a transfer fee in the region of €100m. BVB have not received any inquiries from other clubs yet. Gittens’ salary in Dortmund is currently around €3m gross per year. His performance against Bayern this season was rather telling of the player’s current level: He scored an utterly brilliant individual goal to give Dortmund the lead before rather disappearing for the rest of the match. Gittens is capable of being a brilliant inspiration and the most dire of slumps. Remember, Bayern’s transfer record is the €95 million spent to prise Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur. Spending around the same on a notoriously inconsistent winger, however talented he is, would represent a large risk. However, his potential is incredible. Would such an outlay be worth it? Apparently, Kompany and Eberl think so.Looking for some commentary and analysis on Bayern Munich’s first half of the season, including a suddenly red-hot Bundesliga title race, the biggest surprises and disappointment, along with where Bayern Munich can improve? FC Bayern München v 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 - Bundesliga Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images The city of Munich is pretty nice to live, if you’re rich... The decision from Jamal Musiala and his mother to leave England and live in Germany had a lot to with the uncertainties surrounding Brexit and perhaps less to do with the true desire to experience German culture again. Nevertheless, as we all know, the Stuttgart-born youngster made the best of the new situation, becoming a star player at Bayern Munich and settling into the affluent city of Munich. And the former Chelsea FC youngster is rather grateful for it: “Everyone knows the history of FC Bayern. The standing in the world is enormous, everyone has great respect for FC Bayern. I have been in Munich for five and a half years, it is my home, we are happy here,” Musiala explains in a recent interview, via @iMiaSanMia. “If I didn’t like it in Munich, I wouldn’t have stayed here for so long.”Bayern will be hoping that Musiala will extend his stay in Munich for the foreseeable future, too, as the club looks to wrap up contract negotiations with one of their key players.Looking for some commentary and analysis on Bayern Munich’s first half of the season, including a suddenly red-hot Bundesliga title race, the biggest surprises and disappointment, along with where Bayern Munich can improve? FC Bayern München v RB Leipzig - Bundesliga Photo by Daniel Kopatsch/Getty Images Happy holidays from BFW! When the Winterpause ends, Bayern Munich star Leroy Sané will be in the most crucial stretch of his career. The Germany international wants to stay at Bayern Munich, but the club might be having doubts about reinvesting a massive salary into a player who has not always lived up the lofty expectations that have been placed on him. Sané has picked up his play of late with two goals in his last two games, but it was not a banner first half for the 28-year-old. Injured to start the campaign, Sané then could not consistently unseat newcomers Michael Olise from the starting spot at right wing. FC Bayern München v RB Leipzig - Bundesliga Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Leroy Sané is in limbo with his future. In the last two games, though, Sané has featured on the left side, where he has looked more comfortable. It should be noted, however, that the time at left wing was forced by injuries to both Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman. With his contract ending after this season — and a strong desire to continue on with the club — Sané will have to produce more than he has so far this season. Sané has five goals and one assist in 19 games across all competitions, but is making €15 million per season according to Capology. As of now, a raise seems out of the question and Sané — at least publicly — appears to be open to accepting a pay cut, which could help his case. If, however, Bayern Munich opts to not bring Sané back, he still has a big reputation in Europe. FC Barcelona and Sané’s old boss Hansi Flick are reportedly interested, but Sport (as captured by the Manchester Evening News) says that several other big clubs would want Sané — Chelsea FC, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur: Spanish newspaper SPORT report that Premier League trio - Chelsea, United and Tottenham are interested in Sane’s services. Barcelona are also said to be monitoring his situation, having previously been offered to the Spanish giants. Two things are clear: If Sané wants to stay with Bayern Munich, he will have to be better and produce more.If Bayern Munich opts to let Sané go, he will have no shortage of quality suitors. As Little Carmine (the master of malapropisms) from The Sopranos would say, Sané “is at the precipice of an enormous crossroads.”How will this play out?Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show: Season 7, Episode 22 Here we go...it is time for the Winterpause and things are looking good for Bayern Munich. If things continue on in the second half of the season like they did in the first half, we could finally see Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and Leroy Sané operating on the same side of the field on a consistent basis. Sané spent much of the first half of the season on the right-side, platooning with Michael Olise. Now, though, injuries to Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman opened the door for Sané to ply his trade on the left side, where Davies plays as a left-back. Sané looks more comfortable on that side of the field, which should help his production — a key factor in whether or not he will be retained by the club. Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen is an admirer of both Davies and Sané.“Alphonso Davies and Leroy Sané are currently playing an important role in our team. We will see how that will develop in the future. We appreciate both of them very much and are happy they are part of the team,” Dreesen told Abendzeitung’s Maximilian Koch (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). Borussia Dortmund v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Jürgen Fromme - firo sportphoto/Getty Images It would have been funny if he had suddenly turned into the new Peter Crouch, though. Jamala Musiala was never really known for his headers. The most attention the Bayern Munich star’s ability to head the ball got was when he scored with his head in a Bundesliga game against VFL Wolfsburg, just after a clip of him practicing headerswith former Bayern coach Hermann Gerland gained a lot of traction. But the moment was brief and attention shifted back to the dazzling magic in Musiala’s feet. However, in a season of plentiful steps forward, Musiala’s heading has garnered increased attention again. Bayern and Germany fans have witnessed, with increasing delight, the former Chelsea FC youngster’s rather distinctive headed goal celebration multiple times already this season. So what changed?“It’s more about positioning than about practicing headers,” the German international explained, via @iMiaSanMia. “I go into the box more often, my new position makes that possible. I want to be ready for easy goals, tap-ins or crosses. I’ve learned a lot from Harry Kane and Thomas Müller, including in video sessions. Thomas said to me: ‘You’ve got the height to score headers! Use that.’”The comments from Müller are rather interesting. They are words he probably heard himself, growing up as a tall but gangly kid in the Bayern academy, ones the Bayern legend took to heart to become the aerial threat in the box he is today. If Musiala can achieve half the amount of damage Müller did with his deceiving height and aerial threat, then he can be proud of himself.

FC Bayern München v RB Leipzig - Bundesliga Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images There is a lot of talk regarding the future of Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané, but if he has his way, it sounds like he would like to stay in Bavaria. “I have confidence in myself, in my situation and in my club. We’re in transparent and relaxed talks. I want to play regularly again and enjoy my time on the pitch. We’re playing really well at the moment, the atmosphere is great. I want to be fully aboard this train and contribute my part,” Sané told Sport Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I feel really comfortable. The talks with Vinnie, Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are very good and trustworthy. My focus is currently only on FC Bayern. Everything else we’ll see in the coming weeks and months. We (Sané’s family) feel very comfortable, are at home in Munich and are enjoying it. That’s a big factor.”When asked if Vincent Kompany could play a role in Sané staying, the 28-year-old indicated that he likes playing under his former Manchester City teammate. “We know each other well. We’re playing attractive attacking football under Vinnie. We’re having fun on the pitch under him — that’s important for me and of course plays a role in my decision,” said Sané, who has a goal in each og Bayern Munich’s last two games. Finally, Sané seemed to imply he would be okay with seeing his salary reduced (as has been rumored) if it meant he could stay with Bayern Munich. “This topic is not in my mind at all right now. And for me, the salary is generally not my top priority. To be honest, I haven’t thought for a second about that. Like I said, it’s about the whole package. What’s my position? How does the club see me? What’s the philosophy of our game? Can we achieve something big together like winning the Champions League? Those are the things that are important for me,” Sané remarked. Verona v AC Milan - Serie A Photo by Image Photo Agency/Getty Images Theo Hernandez could be Bayern Munich’s Plan B. According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bayern Munich is not completely out of the running for AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez. Should Alphonso Davies opt to leave the club, Bayern Munich could quickly shift focus to Hernandez, brother of former Bayern defender Lucas. Until there is clarity on Davies’ decision, Bayern Munich will keep at least one eye on Theo Hernandez: Faced with the right offer, Milan would be willing to negotiate a deal for Theo Hernández in the summer, despite his agent’s claims that he wants to stay. Bayern remain attentive to Theo’s situation and are ready to pounce if they lose Alphonso Davies. It is tough to replicate Davies’ profile at left-back, but Hernandez does have the speed and the willingness to get up in the attacking zone that Bayern Munich and head coach Vincent Kompany seem to desire. FC Shakhtar Donetsk v FC Bayern München - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD6 Photo by Rene Nijhuis/MB Media/Getty Images Omerta in full effect The biggest project that Bayern Munich has right now is to tie down Jamal Musiala for a longer period beyond his current deal which expires soon. Many are itching to get a sliver of information on this bumper contract, but the best we will get is unfortunately a variation of the standard response when asked about a contract.“There’s unfortunately no Christmas present that I can give the fans yet. There will be no news anytime soon,” Musiala said (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “We’ve had a lot of games recently, a lot of trips. My focus is on the games. I want to be free on the pitch, even if you put a lot of pressure on me from outside [smiles]. I’m relaxed.”Fans can take solace in the fact that Musiala is fully committed to the club, so those who stress over this issue need not overdo it.Looking for more thoughts and analysis of Bayern Munich big match against RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga?
