FC St. Pauli 1910 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty Images Kane’s suggestion was pretty much laughed off by Premier League officials and representatives. Despite the so-called curse of not winning any club silverware so far in his career, Harry Kane showed absolutely no signs of struggling to adapt to life in the Bundesliga at Bayern Munich after moving from Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League last summer. The Rekordmeister failed to win any trophies for the first time in a decade before Thomas Tuchel was axed by the club shortly before the end of the season, but that did not stop Kane from personally netting a total of 44 goals and providing 12 assists from 45 appearances across all competitions. Normally, at this time of year Kane would be preparing for the Tottenham fixture list to be piling up thick and fast as the winter holiday season quickly approached, but that obviously changed last season with him being able to have a winter break as a Bundesliga player. There could be strong points on either side of the argument on the benefit of Kane having had a few weeks off during the holiday’s last season and if it helped him stay more fit for longer, but all of that is essentially speculation at this point.Indirectly echoing the sentiment of former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp often being vociferous in his disdain for the Premier League not having a brief winter break, Kane recommended the English top flight give it a try at some point while he was away on England duty during the international break. Kane said he felt the break was something that really helped him personally last season and that is was a “shame” the Premier League does not have one.Per the Daily Mail’s chief football reporter Sami Mokbel (via @iMiaSanMia), Kane’s remarks about the English top flight and the lack of a winter, holiday break were essentially laughed off by officials from the league. This came on the heels of the England skipper being critical in a press conference of the amount of players that withdrew from the England squad prior to their first of two UEFA Nations League matches against Greece and then the Republic of Ireland. All of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Bukayo Saka, Levi Colwill, Phil Foden, Jarrad Branthwaite, Aaron Ramsdale, Jack Grealish, Declan Rice, and Cole Palmer withdrew from the squad before the first match, which was in Athens to take on Greece. England Training And Press Conference Photo by Eddie Keogh - The FA/The FA via Getty Images Kane’s comments on the plethora of Three Lions squad withdrawals garnered mixed reviews in the press, but his remarks about not having a break that exits during the holiday period in the Premier League were not taken too seriously. With the extra cup competition that exists in England (Carabao Cup) as well as the domestic league playing more matches than the Bundesliga, there does not currently seem to be a feasible way for the F.A to get all of their matches in with a break in the winter.

FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - DFB Cup: Round of 16 Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images A ban cannot be good for him Bayern Munich recently had to bow out (read: was knocked out) of the DFB-Pokal following a crushing defeat to Bayer Leverkusen. The most notable moment of the match was Manuel Neuer’s red card, the first of his career. As a consequence for his red card, it has been made official (captured by @iMiaSanMia) that Neuer would be banned for two consecutive matches following this one. Meaning, he will be missing the first and second round of the DFB-Pokal next season. However, this is only the case if the keeper decides to renew his contract for another year at Bayern. If he does, something opposed by many fans, then he will miss the first and second round which will happen after quite a long time. If Neuer chooses not to renew it, then it means that this was his last game in the DFB-Pokal with Bayern Munich. Knowing Bayern’s captain, he probably will not retire from Munich this season, and will choose to stay longer (at least another year, that fountain of youth). Either way, the red card could have more consequences than just getting Bayern knocked out of the tournament. Looking to get ready for Bayern Munich vs. Heidenheim this weekend? Borussia Dortmund v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Stuart Franklin/Getty Images It’s only a matter of time Bayern Munich has clearly indicated their intention to extend Jamal Musiala’s contract. The player and his entourage are also keen on committing to the Bavarians beyond 2026, which is when Musiala’s current contract expires. There’s only one thing that stands in the way of an almost certain extension:Jamal Musiala’s camp has clearly signalled their willingness to extend the player’s contract beyond 2026. The salary is the only remaining point left to reach a complete agreement.– Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia)This is not going to be an Alphonso Davies situation where things went from pretty much committing to Bayern, to uncertainty and the possibility of moving to a different club. Despite interest from other clubs, Musiala knows what he has at Bayern and is set to stay put. Now, what is Bayern’s plan of action for the misfiring wingers?Looking to get ready for Bayern Munich vs. Heidenheim this weekend? FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - DFB Cup: Round of 16 Photo by Marco Steinbrenner/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Bayern Munich preparing to face off with Heidenheim... Not many folks expected Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany to call Aleksandar Pavlović’s number on Tuesday during the team’s 1-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal. After breaking his collarbone, Pavlović had just returned to team training and it was assumed that he might not be fit enough to play so soon. The midfielder played 17 uneventful minutes, which left some questioning if he was really ready to go. The 20-year-old insisted that he was ready and is back at full fitness. “I’m fully fit again. I have no more problems, nothing. I’m very happy. I’m doing everything I can to get back into the starting lineup. I’ll do my best and then we’ll see,” Pavlović told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). Kane completes running sessionBayern Munich star Harry Kane is working his way to the lineup as he completed a running session on Thursday morning (via FCBayern.com): Harry Kane made a step towards his return as he completed a running session at Säbener Straße on Thursday morning for the first time since suffering a muscle strain in his right thigh last weekend against Borussia Dortmund. The Bayern striker has been out of action since then as he recovers.Nach Muskelfaserriss: @HKane steigt ins Lauftraining ein! ‍♂️

If I can do something for the team, I will give it my all. My teammates and the club know that I’m a fighter. I want to play as often as possible and help the team,” said Min-jae.That is all well and good — and quite admirable. However, running himself into the ground is exactly why the center-back fell apart in the second half of last season. Maybe, a little rest would serve him well. 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Corbis via Getty Images You thought you hated Tuchel? Two can play that game It’s no secret that then-Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel and Bryan Zaragoza never saw eye-to-eye, and they still don’t until now. Bryan aimed a dig at Tuchel not too long ago and now his agent revealed a bit more behind the scenes.“As soon as Bryan arrived in Munich, the club told Tuchel that he would not continue. That was key”, Manu Sánchez (Bryan’s agent) revealed (Relevo as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “Bryan was a bet for the club, and I think the coach did not play him to spite [the club]. He was angry. It was strange; we had met with Tuchel, and he told us that he saw Bryan playing on the wing or behind the striker.”The 23-year-old Spaniard is currently on loan (and injured) at Osasuna back in Spain. With the Bavarians potentially clearing up the house—particularly wingers—Bryan might finally get his shot at redeeming his Munich stint.

2025 FIFA Club World Cup Draw - Ceremony Photo by Brennan Asplen/Getty Images And so it begins... The draw for the first ever FIFA Club World Cup just took place and has left Bayern Munich with their group for the inaugural tournament. These will be groups of four, consisting of four teams. Benfica of Portugal, the team from Pot 3 is Boca Juniors of Argentina and the team from Pot 4 is Auckland City of New Zealand. FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - DFB Cup: Round of 16 Photo by Daniel Kopatsch/Getty Images Ensuring the squad gives itself an honest assessment is more important now than ever Bayern Munich’s 1-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen in the third round of the DFB-Pokal was excruciating and continued an aggravating trend of the Bavarians getting knocked out early in the competition. This time, Bayern comes away with more credit than in the other early knockouts, having had to battle with 10 men for over 70 minutes against the reigning champions after Manuel Neuer’s red card. But Bayern’s midfield maestro Joshua Kimmich refuses to see the dismissal as an excuse for the loss.“The red card wasn’t the crucial point and it’s no excuse,” Kimmich asserts, via @iMiaSanMia. “Manu has saved us many times. We couldn’t have been much better or more dominant even with 11 men. We didn’t take our chances, especially from set pieces, and we didn’t defend the box properly in the goal situation. If you look at our performance, we can’t blame ourselves for much, apart from the fact we didn’t convert our chances, but that doesn’t change anything now.”No, it does not change anything. Following the confirmation that Bayern’s DFB-Pokal drought will now reach five years, it utterly crucial that the team pushes this loss to the their minds and ensure that they do not start a winless run, starting with a win against Heidenheim in the Bundesliga.Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s shocking 1-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal? FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - DFB Cup: Round of 16 Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Is Manuel Neuer injured? According to a report from Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer missed the final training session ahead of the team’s match against Heidenheim on Saturday: Manuel Neuer missed the final training session ahead of tomorrow’s game. The reason is still unclear. The captain is currently a doubt for Heidenheim. On the flipside, Sven Ulreich returned to training after an absence for undisclosed reasons: Sven Ulreich is back in team training today after a month out due to personal reasons. But should Neuer miss tomorrow’s game, Daniel Peretz is more likely to replace him in goal.At this stage, it is unclear if Neuer was held out for “load management” of if there is an injury/illness issue. As indicated above, Peretz is the more likely candidate to start against Heidenheim if Neuer cannot go because of Ulreich’s extended hiatus from the squad. FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - DFB Cup: Round of 16 Photo by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Getty Images Bayern Munich will take on Heidenheim on Saturday...can it get back on the winning track? Bayern, Barca, Madrid locked in bizarre love triangle over Davies? (Madrid Universal)Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies will be the most sought after left-back on the transfer market next summer and if the Bavarians want to keep the Canadian, they will likely have to fend off aggressive efforts from both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.Sure, the most recent reports indicate that Davies might be experiencing a change of heart, but if the left-back and Bayern Munich let this situation hit January, it could mean trouble: Real Madrid have been working on the signing of Bayern Munich speedster Alphonso Davies for quite some time now. The 24-year-old left-back had been on the Merengues’ radar this past summer as well, as he entered the final year of his contract. However, a move did not materialise as the Spanish heavyweights decided to sign him for free in 2025. While the foundation for a deal has been laid, Real Madrid are now set to face some roadblocks in their pursuit of the Canadian international.Indeed, as reported by AS, Real Madrid are in a three-way battle with Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the transfer race for Alphonso Davies. At one point, it appeared that the 24-year-old would certainly be leaving the Bundesliga behemoths. But recent reports suggest that he is now willing to lower his previous demands of €10 million salary and €15 million signing bonus, which has opened the doors for his continued stay at the Allianz Arena.Meanwhile, Barcelona also have Davies on their agenda for the summer and are prepared to utilise the player’s relationship with Hansi Flick to gain advantage in the race. As such, Real Madrid will need to up the ante in their efforts to sign the Canadian speedster with competition for his services significantly growing. The strong season that Davies is having under Vincent Kompany makes it feel a little less certain that he will leave Bavaria, but it still does feel like a strong possibility. Real Madrid is certainly a destination club for the Canadian, but the presence of Hansi Flick at FC Barcelona could at least tempt Davies to consider a future in Catalonia.Manchester United is also allegedly in the mix as well for Davies, which could complicate matters further for Bayern Munich. Barca could make concessions to get Gyökeres (Sport via 90Min.com)FC Barcelona might be willing to do a wild contract in order to get Sporting CP star Viktor Gyökeres:In their race to sign the sought-after Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyökeres, Barcelona could give up the buyback clause and 50% sell-on fee which were inserted into Francisco Trincao’s contract when he left Spain to join the Lisbon club in 2023.Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show: Season 4, Episode 21 (Bavarian Football Works)Bayern Munich is winding down the Hinrunde and things are surprisingly busy both on and off the field. FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - DFB Cup: Round of 16 Photo by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty Images A deal for the good of both the clubs futures. Bayern Munich is known for its commitment toward identifying young talent, and nurturing it into professional young players. Take for example Thomas Müller, who came through the youth system and is now a legend of the club. Desiring to improve their youth system even further, the club has come to a strategic agreement with 3. Liga team SpVgg Unterhaching. According to the report from FCBayern.com, the agreement is meant to be a long-term one that aims to cover multiple areas such as youth development and scouting. Unterhaching has also produced multiple talents from its youth system, most notably Karim Adeyemi, who has made his mark in the Bundesliga with his talent.“Unterhaching has been known for many years for its outstanding regional youth development work. We expect this long-term partnership with a club right on our doorstep to ensure smooth, uncomplicated integration in the development of our youth players,” said Max Eberl, sporting director for Bayern. “In the medium term, Unterhaching would like to establish itself as a down-to-earth, economically sound professional club. We want to accompany the club on this journey.”Various board members from both clubs commented on the partnership:Jochen Sauer, director of youth development and the campus: “We’re delighted to be able to expand our existing FC Bayern Campus partner club network with Unterhaching. It will further improve the opportunities for regional talent development at both clubs. We have already had good experiences with Haching and are sure that we will achieve further new synergies through this partnership.”Manfred Schwabl, Unterhaching president: “For Unterhaching, the partnership with FC Bayern is a milestone in our club’s history, just in time for our 100th anniversary next year. We’re delighted that there will be a structured and strategically sensible exchange between our two clubs in the future. I am sure that both clubs - and especially the talented youngsters - will benefit from this.”Markus Schwabl, Unterhaching sporting director: “In recent years, we have continuously proven that Unterhaching is an excellent place for young players to establish themselves in professional football. The agreements with FC Bayern will mean that we will not only jointly scout and promote talented young players but also gain new insights behind the scenes across departments.”Fans will be excited to see this addition to Bayern’s regional partnerships, and see what comes out of it. Union Berlin vs Eintracht Frankfurt - DFB-Pokal Frauen Photo by Inaki Esnaola/Getty Images A deep dive into the systemic discrimination against women in the sport we all claim to love. Women’s football has witnessed a dramatic surge in popularity over recent years. Germany specifically, a country known for its footballing heritage, has seen increased viewership and investment in its women’s teams. However, the sport still grapples with a deeply entrenched patriarchal structure that majorly hinders progress. Today we’re going to look at what the problem is exactly. The UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 drew record-breaking audiences, signaling much needed growth in the audience for women’s football. Germany’s Frauen-Bundesliga also enjoyed higher attendance figures and media coverage compared to previous seasons. Yet, this surge in visibility contrasts sharply with the systemic discrimination that continues to writhe its way into the sport.A report by DW highlights how patriarchal norms manifest in different ways within German sports. Leadership positions in football clubs and national associations remain overwhelmingly male-dominated, perpetuating an environment where women’s contributions are undervalued. This issue is not confined to Germany obviously, and isn’t simply restricted to the problem of representation in leadership. Globally, women’s football teams face inadequate funding, poor facilities, and significantly lower wages compared to their male counterparts.Patriarchal structures in sports create significant barriers for women at all levels. In Germany, organizations like Safe Sport have identified widespread cases of psychological and sexual violence, with most incidents going unreported due to fear of retaliation or dismissal. These power imbalances are exacerbated by a lack of women in decision-making roles, which stifles progress and reinforces male dominance in football. Furthermore, there remains a lack of substantial data to back the movement. For example, there is currently no data of domestic abuse/violence against women following football games in Germany (such as the rise in domestic abuse after England wins or loses an important game).FIFA’s historical underfunding of women’s tournaments and inconsistent support for grassroots initiatives have hindered the global growth of women’s football. Despite recent improvements, such as increased prize money for women’s tournaments, the gap between men’s and women’s football remains stark. The increasing popularity of women’s football presents an opportunity to challenge patriarchal norms. Public campaigns, such as Germany’s “Orange the World” initiative, which raises awareness about gender-based violence, showcase how athletes can use their platforms to advocate for societal change. Bayern Munich’s Giulia Gwinn and the German women’s national team have been vocal supporters of such campaigns, illustrating the sport’s potential as a vehicle for activism:“The figures on violence against women and girls are shocking every year,” said Gwinn. “That’s why it’s important to us to send out a clear signal together as the women’s national team this year and support the ‘Orange the World’ campaign.”This statement from Gwinn is extremely important in the sense that role models are a massive factor in a movement as large as this. Having a public figure speaking out against the systemic discrimination is pivotal, and the footballing world stands with Gwinn and the rest of the German team. Internationally, the fight for equality has gained momentum. For instance, the US Women’s National Team’s legal battle for equal pay has inspired similar movements worldwide. In Germany, efforts are underway to create safer environments in sports, with organizations like Safe Sport providing psychological and legal support to victims of abuse, a number that is consistently increasing. Breaking down patriarchal barriers in women’s football requires collective action. Structural changes, such as increasing female representation…

VfB Stuttgart - Eintracht Frankfurt Photo by Tom Weller/picture alliance via Getty Images Can the Swabians turn their season around? Don’t bet against Seb. Bayer Leverkusen is not the only upstart story in the German Bundesliga. While Xabi Alonso and Die Werkself grabbed the lion’s share of the attention after last season’s invincible campaign and domestic double, Sebastian Hoeneß and VfB Stuttgart also got past Bayern Munich — ending up second in the table. This year, Stuttgart has taken a stumble. But Hoeneß is still on the up and up — at least, by the estimation of former Germany men’s national team coach Joachim Löw.“I have been following Sebastian Hoeneß’s path for a while. He is very innovative, very creative, and above all he promotes playful solutions,” Löw said last month in a television appearance, with comments captured by kicker. “You can see that clearly at VfB. In the time before him, VfB was often involved in the relegation battle, and the way they played was also unsatisfactory. Even in the first four or five weeks, it was clear that his style was taking hold. “This team has become much, much better in terms of football and has gained a lot in terms of creativity and offensive strategy. The players can develop much better. I saw the last game against Frankfurt, which was at a very, very high level from both teams. It’s really fun. The players get along very well with his way of thinking.”Löw had been on hand to watch Germany take down Bosnia and Herzegovina 7-0 in Nations League action; Stuttgart’s Maximilian Mittelstädt, one of the top contenders at the left-back position, started on the day.Stuttgart currently languish in ninth place in the Bundesliga table, however, with a tricky early fixture run that included a 4-0 defeat to the Bavarians in October. Their recent form is mixed, having suffered a 5-1 Champions League thrashing on November 27th at the hands of Crvena zvezda of the Serbian SuperLiga and managed just a 2-2 draw with SV Werder Bremen three days later.Unlike Bayern, though, Stuttgart is still alive in the DFB-Pokal — beating Jahn Regensburg 3-0 on the road on December 3rd.Can the younger Hoeneß — nephew of Bayern honorary president Uli — get his team back on track? 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 v Eintracht Frankfurt - Bundesliga Is Paul...the one? | Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Three loans before his triumphant return. As it was written. While Bayern Munich is poised to kick off a blockbuster transfer pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz, another young attacking midfielder is already waiting in the wings...and he is one to watch.Paul Wanner, only 18 years of age, is currently on loan assignment at FC Heidenheim — whom the Bavarians play this weekend. Last season, the youngster had a productive spell at Elversberg in the 2. Bundesliga. And his next destination could be yet another step up, per a report detailed in Sport Bild.Via @iMiaSanMia:Eintracht Frankfurt are very interested in Paul Wanner. Should they qualify for next season’s Champions League, it could be Wanner’s third and last loan station to get Champions League experience and return to Bayern as a mature player [@altobelli13, @cfbayern]Frankfurt is currently coached by former Bayern assistant Dino Toppmöller, who was Germany men’s national team coach Julian Nagelsmann’s right hand during his time in Bavaria. Die Adler are this season’s second-best team so far and maintaining solid pressure — sitting four points behind Bayern after 12 matchdays. Toppmöller has his side on the up and up, and an exciting young creative talent could be just as important to them as the step up in quality would be for the young Wanner.Wanner has always chosen his career steps with care — declining a Germany senior team call-up in order to focus on the U-21s, where he can practice being a key figure on a national team side. And his promise is clearly extraordinary, with both Germany and Austria heavily courting his senior international team commitment. One more loan to complete his training...Bayern could be getting a monster back in 2026/27.Looking to get ready for Bayern Munich vs. Heidenheim this weekend? Bayern Munich - TSG 1899 Hoffenheim Photo by Sven Hoppe/picture alliance via Getty Images One of the defining aspects of Bayern’s new management is how quiet (some) developments can be held... On Tuesday, Florian Plettenberg was first to report a possible transfer of TSG Hoffenheim player Tim Bischof to Bayern Munich. But they were easy to dismiss as the media linking a young, talented German to the biggest club in Germany. That certainly has happened a lot in recent years. And long before that, if we are being honest. But, just two days later, a different source not only corroborates Bayern’s interest in the 19-year-old but even claims that the Bavarian giants are leading the race, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:Bayern are leading the race for the signing of Tom Bischof on a free transfer, despite interest from RB Leipzig, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. Bischof is unlikely to extend his contract at Hoffenheim. TSG want a final decision before the end of this year. Was this news pushed out to distract from the soul crushing 1-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal? Is it perhaps still a dud rumor? Or will Bayern truly look to secure one of Germany’s most promising young players? If Hoffenheim have their way, we might know by the end of the month.Looking to get ready for Bayern Munich vs. Heidenheim this weekend? FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - DFB Cup: Round of 16 Photo by Daniel Kopatsch/Getty Images BIG developments in Bavaria. In a turn of tables, Bayern Munich could now be on the verge of sealing a contract extension for left-back and Canadian men’s national team star Alphonso Davies. The parties had been close to a deal two springs ago, but the sacking of former sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić — who brought Davies to Bavaria — had thrown a wrench in the situation. Davies is out of contract next June, and clubs from Real Madrid to Manchester United were rumored to have turned his head. But Davies has enjoyed a roaring start to his 2024/25 campaign under first-year Bayern coach Vincent Kompany — and now the man once hailed as one of the future faces of the club may just become just that.As shared on social media by Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg: Excl | FC Bayern have made significant progress regarding a contract extension with Alphonso #Davies beyond 2025 ✔️Negotiations are ongoing and positive, key figures already discussed. But some more details need to be clarified. The focus is on a new long-term contract. In terms of salary, Davies has made significant concessions to Bayern. Further crucial talks are set to take place before Christmas. Not a done deal yet. Manchester United are also aware that Davies is likely to sign a new contract with Bayern. #MUFC @kerry_hau @SkySportDE What about Real Madrid? The Spanish giants may have to look elsewhere for their next Galáctico. This is good — no, great — news for FC Bayern.Looking to get ready for Bayern Munich vs. Heidenheim this weekend?
