FC Bayern München v Real Madrid: Semi-final First Leg - UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Photo by Christina Pahnke - sampics/Getty Images Nothing but praise for Vincent Kompany. When asked about Vincent Kompany’s performance at Bayern Munich this season, Uli Hoeneß dropped another iconic response. Immediately comparing Kompany to his predecessor Thomas Tuchel, Uli found the difference to be massive.“It’s a difference like day and night compared to before. He is communicative and cares about his players,” said the honorary club president (via @iMiaSanMia), a sneak diss of sorts aimed at the upcoming English national team coach. He continued, talking about the factors that motivated the board to sign Kompany: “But we didn’t know that [about him] before. That’s why we called Pep Guardiola and asked him for advice. He just told us that we can take him blindly, he can do it. Actually, there’s not much standing in the way of successful years at FC Bayern.” Well, it’s certainly good to see the constant stream of optimism surrounding Kompany from everyone at the club. Bayer 04 Leverkusen v FC Salzburg - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD5 Photo by Joris Verwijst/BSR Agency/Getty Images It seems unlikely that Florian Wirtz will re-up with his current club... It is no secret that Bayern Munich and Manchester City are both interested in Bayer Leverkusen attacker Florian Wirtz. With both clubs rumored to have spoken with the player’s representatives, Bayer Leverkusen might be ready to attempt one last chance to keep its star player per Sport Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia): After Bayern and Manchester City spoke to Hans Wirtz (father and agent of Florian Wirtz) to emphasize their interest in the player, Bayer Leverkusen have now opened negotiations with the Wirtz family to extend his contract beyond 2027. First talks have taken place. Leverkusen’s plan is to extend Wirtz’s contract by at least another year. If no agreement is reached, then Leverkusen would prefer to sell Wirtz next summer as his price would go down in 2026 with only one year left on his contract. Bayer04 bosses are convinced they can keep the player and convince him to extend. At this point, it feels like a contract extension is likely off-the-table for Wirtz, but the presence of Manchester City in a potential transfer battle vs. Bayern Munich is something that could make fans in Germany feel a little uneasy. FC Bayern München v Paris Saint-Germain - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD5 Photo by Marcel Engelbrecht - firo sportphoto/Getty Images Bayern is more than willing to listen to offers for Goretzka for either this coming winter or summer. Due to the injuries to both Aleksandar Pavlović and João Palhinha, Leon Goretzka has been able to start the last two matches for Bayern Munich; the 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and the 3-0 Bundesliga win over FC Augsburg. The pair of matches occurred after the most recent international break, during which Palhinha sustained his injury on duty with Portugal while Pavlović has been working on his return to action from his injury he suffered earlier in the season in the first half of the 4-0 win over VfB Stuttgart. For Goretzka, the Augsburg and PSG matches were two rare matches that he has started under Vincent Kompany, as the Belgian manager has a preference to using Pavlović alongside Joshua Kimmich for the pivot at the center of midfield. Just before the last international break, though, he did start in the 1-0 win over St. Pauli alongside Kimmich. However, the Augsburg and PSG matches were slightly more significant in the sense that he played the full 90 minutes in each of them.Regardless of Goretzka’s recent minutes, which have all been solid performances, the club still does not see him in their plans for the future, which board member for sport Max Eberl has made evidently clear in recent weeks. Per information from Sport Bild’s Tobi Altschäffl (via @iMiaSanMia), the club is still ready and willing to listen to offers for the midfielder for a sale for either this winter, or this coming summer. His run of recent matches has not affected the club’ thinking on this matter, as once the injured midfielders are back, they will slot right back in ahead of him, relegating him back to a substitute’s role for Kompany. 1. FSV Mainz 05 v FC Bayern München - DFB Cup: Round Two Photo by Ralf Ibing - firo sportphoto/Getty Images The player himself has recently switched his representative to the ROOF agency, so it seems that he is also anticipating a move in the very near future. He had the chance to leave the club during the summer, but chose to stay, hunker down, and fight for his place in the team — something that has clearly not come to fruition this season. As things stand, Goretzka’s contract at Bayern runs through June 2026, so it is a crucial period for the club to try to get any sort of return on investment for him with his market value on a downward trend. A handful of clubs have previously expressed interest in Goretzka, but the Premier League in England is where Bayern feel like they can make the biggest profit from him at this point. FC Bayern Muenchen Training Session And Press Conference - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD5 Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Bayern Munich has another big match ahead... Kompany’s wing selections don’t come easy (@iMiaSanMia)It might feel like it sometimes, but Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany does not spin the roulette wheel or use the flying fickle finger of fate to determine his starting wingers from game to game. With four quality option, Kompany always has to go through strong considerations when selecting his starters, especially because not one of the foursome (Leroy Sane, Michael Olise, Kingsley Coman, and Serge Gnabry) has really grabbed a starting role and made it his own. So how does Kompany pick his starters? Let him tell you. “It’s our role to gather as much information as possible in order to make a decision. That will also be the case in other positions soon when the boys come back. Mathys Tel can also play there, but we are giving him time to develop centrally,” Kompany said.Sometimes, Kompany hits the mark, sometimes he does not…and other times it really doesn’t matter (see the winger performances vs. Paris Saint-Germain). Because of the volatile nature of performances from his wingers, Kompany will have his work cut out for him with these choices. Hopefully, the wingers start to see their performance levels rise a bit in the coming weeks.United might not be in on Kolo Muani after all (@Plettigoal)There were rumors floating around that Manchester United was interested in Paris Saint-Germain attacker Randal Kolo Muani. Eh...maybe not — at least according to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg: Been told that rumors about Randal Kolo Muani and Manchester United are not currently hot. At the moment, there are no internal discussions or concrete ideas about a loan move in the winter. #MUFC

A guess at Bayern Munich’s starting XI...will there be any rotation?A prediction on the match.Bayern to pull another Musiala move on Chelsea? (Chelsea News)Bayern Munich probably fondly looks back at swiping Jamal Musiala from Chelsea FC. Now, there could be another opportunity for a similar move with Josh Acheampong: European giants Bayern Munich are the latest club interested in Josh Acheampong as his contract standoff with Chelsea continues according to reports. It was reported last month that Acheampong was frozen out by Chelsea and won’t play for the club again until he signs a new deal. The teenager is currently under contract until 2026 and only signed a new contract in January this year which makes Chelsea’s hard stance a bit strange. Acheampong is regarded as one of the brightest talents in the academy along with Tyrique George and he was part of the squad for the pre-season tour of America. The 18-year-old made his Chelsea debut under Mauricio Pochettino last season and has already appeared for the first team under Enzo Maresca, playing 27 minutes in the Carabao Cup tie against Barrow. With Reece James suffering another injury setback and Malo Gusto not immune to picking up injuries himself, Acheampong has missed out on a number of…

FC Bayern München v Paris Saint-Germain - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD5 Photo by Elyxandro Cegarra/Eurasia Sport Images/Getty Images Will Joshua Kimmich re-up with Bayern Munich? According to a report from L’Equipe journalist Loïc Tanzi (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), it is unlikely that Joshua Kimmich will leave Bayern Munich, but there is a way: Bayern are very confident that Joshua Kimmich would extend his contract to the point that within the club, an agreement is now considered almost done, although there’s of course some caution as long as the papers are not signed A club source told @lequipe: “In order to leave, he needs to feel that the project he’s going to is superior to Bayern’s and that he will have more guarantees of winning titles. I don’t think Barcelona or PSG are stronger in this regard than we can be.”Not many teamsa fit that bill. Manchester City, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and....maybe no one else. Bankett des FC Bayern München nach dem Pokalfinale Photo by Team 2 Sportphoto/ullstein bild via Getty Images Don’t tell this to Kane, he wouldn’t know what to do with himself... Uli Hoeneß is not stranger to controversial statements. In fact, the supervisory board member for Bayern Munich has created an incredible reputation for saying the most headline worthy quotes dozens of times a season. It has happened again, as Uli Hoeness, speaking to a finance forum of all things, declared this: “What I can promise is the league title. We are in a wonderful position at the moment. We are top of the table,” Hoeneß explained, via @iMiaSanMia. “And our only real competitors, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig, are far behind us.”Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt may not be happy to hear that. That lack of joy, however, is not unique to them. In fact, Hoeness claims that fans find winning the title boring: “Back when I was still playing, we were the happiest people when we won the title,” Hoeneß reminisced. “But today, when you say before the season that we want to become German champions, they say, ‘wow, that’s boring’.”Of course, winning the title 11 times in a row may have that kind of effect on people, especially casual fans. Nobody aside from Bayern’s fans want to see the club win the title every single season. Now, however, Bayern have been given a clean slate due to Bayer Leverkusen’s win last season, leading to the kind of motivation and excitement that has led the Bavarians to the top of the table.Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s visit to Borussia Dortmund? FC Bayern München v Paris Saint-Germain - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD5 Photo by Sebastian Widmann - UEFA/UEFA via Getty Images What a game for the big defender... Bayern Munich center-back Kim Min-jae had his chance to step and be the hero for the Bavarians against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. It is safe to say, he did not let that opportunity slip by as he headed home the only goal in Bayern Munich’s 1-0 victory. The strong performance left the defender feeling good after match.“I’m very proud, this was my first goal in the Champions League, and we got the 3 points,” said MIn-jae as captured by ransport (via @iMiaSanMia). “Yeah, of course (Bayern Munich can win the Champions League). We’re playing together, fighting together — it’s not easy but we can do it.”Aside of the goal, Min-jae was part of a staunch backline that stifled many PSG attacks. When asked about his center-back partner, Dayot Upamecano, Min-jae had this to say: “I love Dayot — I’m happy to play with him.” The duo will be tested in the coming games, will they be able to play just as well as they did against PSG?Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s massive 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League? FC Bayern München v Paris Saint-Germain - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD5 Photo by Ulrik Pedersen/NurPhoto via Getty Images Referring to conceding no goals as a “clean sheet” always seemed funny to me. Are we talking about a 2-year-old, proud of not wetting his bed, or professional footballers? In winning 1-0 against Paris Saint Germain in a heavyweight Champions League bout, Bayern Munich collected a 7th clean sheet in a row in all competitions. Such a run was hardly conceivable after conceding four goals in one humiliating match against FC Barcelona, but the final whistle against the Qatari owned Parisian giants confirmed this achievement, one that Bayern have not achieved in over a decade, as captured by @iMiaSanMia: Bayern have won and kept a clean sheet in each of their last 7 competitive matches - the last time they managed that was under Jupp Heynckes in August/September 2011 (10 in a row without conceding).Incidentally, Manuel Neuer was tending the net for Bayern during both these runs. Back in 2011, he was bombarded with ‘Koan Neuer’ (No Neuer) shouts from Bayern fans furious at the signing of a goalkeeper with a reputation as a Schalke 04 ultra. The 10 clean sheets in a row, then, came at a good time to soothe fans and remind them that this was a world class goalkeeper the club had signed. All these years later, Neuer has delivered seven clean sheets in a row again and explains, via @iMiaSanMia, how the team managed to do this: “It comes down to our mentality and the confidence, not just from the back line, but the whole team. The attacking players are just as pleased with a 1-0 win and a clean sheet. This mentality and focus in every defensive action is setting us apart right now.”One can see little reason that this mentality and focus will let up anytime soon, either. Would it not be fitting for Neuer (and the rest of the team) to go on to beat the record he set all those years ago? Four clean sheets to go...Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s massive 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League? Training FC Bayern Munich Photo by Sven Hoppe/picture alliance via Getty Images When a player plays every single minute of every match, it might suggest that he is an important player... Speculation over Joshua Kimmich’s future is rampant and it is hardly surprising. In just over a month, at the time of writing and as it stands, the year of 2025 will start and Kimmich will be allowed to sign a pre-contract to leave Bayern Munich for not transfer fee in the summer. Such a scenario is be a dangerous one for Bayern, especially considering just how irreplaceable the former VFB Stuttgart player is. Asked about Kimmich’s future and importance to the squad after the 1-0 win over Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League, Vincent Kompany readily admits just how vital Germany’s captain really is to Bayern: “Joshua played every single minute so far, so the answer is simple. He showed in every game that he’s important for us,” Kompany explains, via @iMiaSanMia. “Contract details are not my role. My role is to keep the players motivated, happy and willing to fight for this club. I’m getting that feeling everyday from Joshua. Everything else is between him and the club - and I respect that.”As the clock ticks down to January 1st, board member for sport Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund will need to be sure about their plan to renew Kimmich’s contract. FC Bayern München v FC Augsburg - Bundesliga Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Eberl said that the club has made it clear they would like to extend Kimmich’s contract and keep him around long-term. Bayern Munich is currently in the midst of negotiating contracts and new deals for a handful of key players. Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and Joshua Kimmich are three of said players that are up for renewal in a period before the summer transfer window where the front office has made it clear they are ready to go all out for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz. For Davies, the situation is a bit more complicated as only recent developments have signaled there is a possibility he might stay instead of leaving, but for Musiala and Kimmich, it is more about just fine-tuning the finances, fine print, and details of the contract offers. The pair of players’ names are synonymous with the brand and club of FC Bayern and both have the profiles to have massive futures with the club. The Musiala negotiations have dominated the limelight in the news cycles, but board member for sport Max Eberl recently commented on Kimmich’s situation and explained how open the club has been with the player in letting him know how much they would like him to stay. His current contract with Bayern runs through June 2025, so without an extension before the end of this season, he could be going into the final year of his contract; a situation the club wants to avoid.“I think we are very, very open with him. We’re telling him: We want to extend your contract. We’re saying that he should become the captain of FC Bayern when Manuel Neuer is no longer on the pitch. And we’re letting him know that he should become a face of our club. We have made that clear to him and we stand behind that,” Eberl explained on the Kimmich situation, speaking to Sport Bild (via @iMiaSanMia). From Kimmich’s perspective, it has been voiced more than once that there is a feeling of lack of appreciation from the club for a multitude of different reasons. This has sparked speculation that he would not be open to a potential salary cut at all if that were to be one of the conditions in a contract extension offer from the club. He currently earns 19.5 million euros per year as the club’s third-highest earner, but the club will certainly need to find funds wherever they can to try to fund the Florian Wirt transfer from Leverkusen. BundesligaVFL Bochum 1848 v FC Bayern München Photo by ANP via Getty Images On the rumors of Kimmich not willing to take a pay cut for a new deal, Eberl reemphasized how open the club has been with the player throughout the whole process thus far. “As far as salary is concerned and what is being speculated in public, all I can say is: we are trying to extend Josh’s contract and will try to reach an agreement. That includes the sporting side, the perspective, but also the financial side. We want to reach an agreement with Josh on all three of these levels,” he explained. By the sound of it, Kimmich knows how much the club wants to keep hold of him and hopes that is reflected in the offer that they eventually wind up giving him. There is still plenty of time for negotiations, but it is clear that Bayern sees him as one of the pillar players within the club and plan to keep it that way. More Words after the 1-0 win over Paris Saint-GermainAfter Bayern secure a much-needed 1-0 win over PSG in the Champions League thanks to a first half header from Kim Min-Jae, Eberl was again asked about the Kimmich situation and if there have been any status updates. Kimmich played the full 90 minutes in the winning effort and put in a typical, hard-fought, gritty performance characteristic of his playing style. It was the type of performance adjacent with being a true leader within the club even though he was not wearing the captain’s armband on the night. When Eberl was asked about the Kimmich situation, he replied, “When Manu[el Neuer] and Thomas [Muller] retire, he should become the face of Bayern. We’re having very open…

FC Internazionale v AC Milan - Serie A Photo by Sportinfoto/DeFodi Images via Getty Images What a suspicious bombshell, months after the transfer window ended... The links between Bayern Munich and Theo Hernandez, the brother of former Bayern record signing Luca Hernandez (what a footballing family, eh?), simply will not go away. With current starting left back Alphonso Davies consistently linked with a transfer to Real Madrid, subsequent links from one of the most high profile left backs in the world to Bayern make a certain amount of sense. But reliable sources have never reported that a move of Theo Hernandez were anything more than “it could happen”.But now, all of a sudden, Florian Plettenberg reports, via @iMiaSanMia_GER, that the Bavarian giants were extremely serious about Hernandez: Theo Hernández would be a candidate for Bayern if Alphonso Davies were to leave the club. Last summer, Bayern were ‘incredibly far’ with Hernández. Max Eberl was in ‘really active and advanced talks’. Talk about a story out of nowhere. If this story really is true, one has to wonder three things: Why the move eventually collapsed, how nobody realized that a move was this close to happening until nearly three months after the 2024 summer transfer window closed, and how close Davies may have been to joining Perez’s boys over in Madrid in 2024.Still, if Bayern were to become as serious about signing Hernandez in 2025 as this reports suggests they were last summer, then a move may actually happen. With a contract with AC Milan expiring in 2026 and a difficult relationship with current Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca, a move may well be on the cards for the French captain of the Italian side. And if he does leave, why not to the Bavarian giants themselves?Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s visit to Borussia Dortmund? 189. Munich Oktoberfest - End Photo by Felix Hörhager/picture alliance via Getty Images Thanks for being here! Well, it is that time of year again in the United States and while I will probably be indulging in early morning beers (and shots!) by the time you read this, there is a little something that needs to be said.As good as any time, this flt felt like the moment to give everyone in this community some thanks for making it the best Bayern Munich-based place to be on the internet. This year has not been without its difficulties. Staffers have come and gone. Community members as well, too. But through it all — if you are reading this — you have been here...and damn it, that means something. So, this isn’t a long post and it won’t change your life, but it is a chance for us to say thanks for being here and supporting this crazy place. We couldn’t do this without you and, too often, the breakneck speed in which we operated does not allow us to slow down and just say “Thank you.”So there you go...now where are those beers I was talking about?Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s visit to Borussia Dortmund? FC Bayern München v FC Augsburg - Bundesliga Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Ol’ Max is ready to pat himself on the back... Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl had to make a tough call in letting Matthijs de Ligt go before the season and turning the team’s focus to Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano. After a stretch of solid play in recent weeks, Eberl felt like it might be a good time to revisit the topic. “We had the idea that we wanted to defend very high and actively. With Min-jae and Upa we have two players who, when they have confidence, are very good in duels and are simple football players. We had to make a decision. We did that and it worked. Matthijs de Ligt was also a top centre-back. We are hired and paid to make decisions that we believe in. Of course, people are always very close and emotional when it comes to football. But we have to decide based on facts and on ideas of how we want to play football,” Eberl said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). Both Upamecano and Min-jae did suffer some tough moments earlier in the season, but have rounded into form. Bayer 04 Leverkusen v FC Salzburg - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD5 Photo by Joris Verwijst/BSR Agency/Getty Images He did not, in fact, take the bait Despite the end result, the title race between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen was quite tight for the majority of the season. Until February, Thomas Tuchel’s men was able to keep up but then suffered a collapse, with Leverkusen taking full advantage by racking up a massive gap that the Bavarian giants simply could not even begin to overcome. But this season, the situations could be reversed. New head coach Vincent Kompany’s Bayern already enjoy a 9 point lead over Leverkusen, at the time of writing, which has led Uli Hoeneß to promise the Bundesliga title is already secured in the Bavarian clubs’ favor. Granit Xhaka, a key player for the current Bundesliga champions, reacts to this statement:“Nine points is all well and good but no one has ever become champion after 11 matchdays. We respect Mr. Hoeneß’s opinion, of course,” Xhaka added, via @iMiaSanMia. “But in the end we have to look at ourselves. We have 7 finals to play before the winter break and we will do everything we can to get maximum points — because we’ll need them.”The position of challenger was one Leverkusen forced on Bayern last season, leading them on a merry chase. Now it is Leverkusen’s turn to chase and see if their charge ends up better than Bayern’s did last season.Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s visit to Borussia Dortmund? FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - Bundesliga Photo by Marcel Engelbrecht - firo sportphoto/Getty Images Wirt is THE priority for Bayern in the transfer market and everything else for the time being is on the back burner. Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz has always been a transfer target for Bayern Munich throughout the course of the past couple of years, but the Rekordmeister are ready to get really serious about bringing the German talent to Munich this summer. For the majority of Bayern fans, it’s a dream to have Wirtz play alongside compatriot Jamal Musiala, and that dream might just become a reality sooner rather than later. Both Max Eberl and Christoph Freund have expressed confidence that they will be able to convince Wirtz to join Bayern this summer and initially talks with the player’s camp have given those signals. For Wirtz, Musiala on the verge of signing a contract extension with Bayern could be taken as a statement of intent and something that will only help him want to join the club.Per information from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Wirtz is Bayern’s top priority, so much so to the point that they are planning on saving funds to the point where they are able to budget €100 million for the proposed transfer fee. They will likely have to pay around that mark to pry Wirtz away from Die Werkself as his current contract with Leverkusen runs through June 2027. Of course, Leverkusen want him to stay and extend his contract, but that has not happened yet and they will know that Bayern will be coming in big for him during the summer window, trying to beat both Real Madrid and Manchester City to the punch.Elsewhere in the transfer rumor realm, Bayern has been linked with potential backup striker options for Harry Kane, too. Lille’s Jonathan David, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres have all been names linked with Bayern to be signed as backup or secondary options to Kane, but the main, sole focus for now is on securing a move for Wirtz. Of the three striker names mentioned, David is the most feasible due to the fact that he would be a free transfer, but even with that opportunity, Wirtz is the number one target for Bayern. Eber, Freund, and the rest of the club’s front office are all aligned on the plan to go all out for Wirtz and he could very well become the club’s record signing next summer. FC Bayern München v Paris Saint-Germain - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD5 Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images The boss might have a soft spot for central defenders at Bayern Munich... Bayern Munich center-backs Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano saw a big challenge in facing Paris Saint-Germain — and stepped up to face it. The central defenders played a key role in helping limit PSG’s chances, which helped the Bavarians capture a 1-0 victory in the Champions League. Min-jae even accounted for the game’s lone goal with an opportunistic first half header. That effort did not go unnoticed. “It’s not just Min-jae. I’ve said even before playing a single game that we have a lot of energy and good personalities in the team. We just had to work. From the first day it was important to see that strikers wouldn’t enjoy playing against our defenders, even in training. As a defender, you can’t say I’m the best after one game. You need at least 10-15 games to be able to say: maybe they’re not doing too bad. The same goes for the goalkeepers. We’re on the right track but we should continue working to improve,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). Kompany also noted that Min-jae and Upamecano have been giving Bayern Munich’s forwards a tough time in training, which is a tell-tale sign that the defenders are going to get the job done in big moments. “I watched training in the first week, and it wasn’t fun for our forwards. And if it’s not fun for the forwards in training, then you know you’ve got something there. And then the performance, that always comes with a bit of confidence and time. Of course, they don’t defend alone. Harry Kane is involved; everyone is involved, and that’s why it’s so successful at the moment,” said Kompany.
