1. Attracts significant number of questions in Prelims every year. Important static portion which requires good number of revisions
2. Sources I had used:
- NCERT (Bipan Chandra)
- Parmar Sir Notes (Vajiram)
- Vajiram Yellow Book for Modern History
- Crash Course Videos online
- Tables at the end of Spectrum
3. Approach:
- Tried getting an idea about the basic timeline after two initial readings of NCERT and watching a ~3hr long modern history crash course video online
- Supplemented information from the Vajiram yellow book into Parmar Sir Vajiram notes
- Created Governor/Viceroy wise event list (as shown in sample notes) to easily revise and remember them
- Used Spectrum tables as the source of factual information not yet covered
4. Test Series for Modern History
- Sectional Tests of Vision and Vajiram
- PYQs from last 5 yrs UPSC papers
5. Modern History has a lot of things to remember. Discussion of storyline and questions with friends helped me a lot in getting confidence in the subject.

4. आपातकालीन प्रावधान: अपातकाल लागू करने की अधिकारीयों की शक्ति बढ़ाई गई थी, और "आंतरिक अशांति" को आपातकाल लागू करने का कारण जोड़ दिया गया था।
5. न्यायिक समीक्षा: संविधान संशोधन की न्यायिक समीक्षा की शक्ति को सीमित किया गया था, कहा गया था कि किसी भी अधिविधि को किसी भी कारण पर कोई सवाल नहीं किया जा सकता है।
6. राष्ट्रपति और उपराष्ट्रपति का चयन: राष्ट्रपति और उपराष्ट्रपति का चयन का तरीका बदल दिया गया और चयन में किसी भी निर्वाचन संबंधी रिक्त स्थान के कारण यह चुनौती नहीं की जा सकती थी।
7. राज्य संसदें: राज्य संसदों की कुछ मामलों पर विधायिका बनाने की शक्ति को कम किया गया और इससे संसद को अधिक अधिकार मिला।
42वें संशोधन की आलोचना की गई थी क्योंकि इसने न्यायप्रणाली की स्वतंत्रता को कमजोर कर दिया और क्रियाशीलता के हाथों में शक्ति को एकत्र कर दिया। बाद में कुछ इसके प्रावधानों को बदल या रद्द कर दिया गया।

- Tried covering important topics from Shankar and Vajiram notes and supplemented them with current affairs
- For Reserves, National Park etc. - tried remembering Biosphere Reserves, Ramsar Sites and Few Major National Parks through Maps - Remembered major Flora, Fauna and geographical features in the above. These can be used for option elimination during Prelims.
4. Also, went through websites of UNDP, UNEP, World Bank etc. to cover the initiatives in India.
