🌀Bad Bank
◾️News: RBI Governor has agreed to look at a proposal for creating a Bad Bank.
◾️Key points:
1. Function as a bank but has bad assets to start with.
2. It is an Asset Reconstruction Company (ARC) or an Asset Management Company (AMC).
3. It is not involved in lending and taking deposits.
4. It helps commercial banks clean up their balance sheets and resolve bad loans.

What is Global Zero?
-> Global Zero is the international movement for the elimination of all nuclear weapons.
-> Its members understand that the only way to eliminate the nuclear threat – including proliferation, nuclear terrorism and humanitarian catastrophe – is to stop the spread of nuclear weapons, secure all nuclear materials and eliminate all nuclear weapons: global zero.

🌀Monetary Policy Committee (MPC)
▫️The RBI has a government- constituted Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) which is tasked with framing monetary policy using tools like the Repo Rate, Reverse Repo Rate, Bank Rate, Cash Reserve Ratio.
▫️The MPC is entrusted with the responsibility of deciding the different policy rates including, Marginal Standing Facility, Repo Rate, Reverse Repo Rate, and Liquidity Adjustment Facility.
▪️Composition of MPC
▫️The committee will have six members. Of the six members, the government will nominate three. No government official will be nominated to the MPC.
▫️The other three members would be from the RBI with the governor being the ex-officio chairperson. Deputy governor of RBI in charge of the monetary policy will be a member, as also an executive director of the central bank.
▪️Selection of members
▫️The government nominees to the MPC will be selected by a Search-cum-Selection Committee under Cabinet Secretary with RBI Governor and Economic Affairs Secretary and three experts in the field of economics or banking or finance or monetary policy as its members.
▪️Term of Members
▫️Members of the MPC will be appointed for a period of four years and shall not be eligible for reappointment.

1. Nanobacteria:
Nanobacteria are nano-sized in that they are from 20—200 nanometres (run) in size and are the smallest known self-replicating bacteria.
2.Nanoemulsion: Nanoemulsions are a class of extremely small droplets that appear to be transparent or translucent with a bluish colouration. They are usually in the range 50 to 200 nm but much smaller than the range (from 1 to 100 pm) for conventional emulsions.
3.Nanog: Nanog is a key pluripotency regulator critically important in the process of self-renewal of undifferentiated stem cells. It is encoded by the NANOG gene.
4. Nanogels: Nanogels are composed of cross-linked three-dimensional polymer chain networks that are formed via covalent linkages or self-assembly processes.

What is a Technical Recession?
● It is a term used to describe two consecutive quarters of decline in output. In the case of a nation’s economy, the term usually refers to back-to-back contractions in real GDP.
● Difference between Technical Recession and Recession: The technical recession is mainly used to capture the trend in GDP but the Recession encompasses an appreciably more broad-based decline in economic activity that covers several economic variables including employment, household and corporate incomes and sales at businesses.
Inclusive Development Index (IDI)
-> The Inclusive Development Index (IDI) is, a report published by the World Economic Forum.
-> The index namely has three pillars of growth for global economies: growth and development; inclusion, intergenerational equity and sustainability.
-> The report says that the IDI is ‘designed as an alternative to GDP that reflects more closely the criteria through which people evaluate their respective countries’ economies’.
Unemployment can take various forms, and there are several different types of unemployment. The main types of unemployment include:
1. Frictional Unemployment: This type of unemployment occurs when individuals are temporarily between jobs. It can be due to people entering the workforce for the first time, changing careers, or moving from one job to another. It is often considered a natural and relatively short-term form of unemployment.
2. Structural Unemployment: Structural unemployment arises from a mismatch between the skills and location of job seekers and the requirements and location of available job openings. 3. Cyclical Unemployment: Cyclical unemployment is linked to the business cycle. When the economy is in a downturn or recession, businesses may reduce their workforce, leading to higher unemployment rates. Conversely, during economic expansions, unemployment decreases.
4. Seasonal Unemployment: Seasonal unemployment is associated with jobs that are only available during certain times of the year. For example, agricultural workers may be unemployed during the off-season or construction workers in areas with extreme weather.
5. Hidden Unemployment: Hidden unemployment refers to people who are not actively seeking employment and, therefore, are not counted in the official unemployment statistics. This can include discouraged workers who have given up looking for work or individuals who are underemployed.
6. Underemployment: Underemployment occurs when individuals have jobs, but these jobs do not fully utilize their skills or provide them with the level of income they desire. They are, in a sense, employed in positions that are below their qualifications or expectations.
7. Long-term Unemployment: Long-term unemployment refers to individuals who have been without work for an extended period, typically six months or more. It can be particularly challenging, as skills and motivation may erode over time, making reentry into the job market more difficult.
8. Educational Unemployment: Educational unemployment happens when individuals with higher education and advanced degrees cannot find jobs that match their qualifications. This can result from a lack of demand for specific skills or oversaturation of the job market in certain fields.
9. Disguised Unemployment: Disguised unemployment occurs when more people are engaged in a particular activity than is necessary for its efficient operation. Their contributions to the activity are marginal or even negligible.
The prevalence of these types of unemployment can vary depending on economic conditions and structural factors in a given country or region. Policymakers and economists often strive to address these different types of unemployment through various measures, including job training programs, economic stimulus, and labor market reforms.
