​​Google Trends Show Modest Interest in Crypto Topics Despite Bitcoin Nearing All Time High

Despite the tremendous growth of the crypto market in recent weeks, mainstream interest in crypto remains relatively low. Google Trends values for "Bitcoin" and "Crypto" search queries are just slightly above 20. Meanwhile, Google searches for "NFT" are nearing ATL, indicating that Web2 users and investors are not even thinking about NFTs yet.

It's worth noting that the peak of interest in Bitcoin and crypto was around May 2021, while the market's ATH capitalization was set in November 2021, when the Google Trends value was around 80. At the same time, "NFT" queries peaked in early 2022, almost 10 months after the "Bitcoin" query first peak.

Over the past 24 hours, Bitcoin has risen nearly 10%, followed by other cryptocurrencies. At its peak, BTC reached $64K and is currently trading around $63K, which is only 8% away from its all-time high.

Amid the high trading activity, nearly $794 million of positions were liquidated on the leading futures exchanges:

- $286M on Binance;
- $275M on OKX;
- $78M on HTX;
- $70M on Bybit;
- $48M on BitMEX.

Liquidations of short positions slightly outpaced liquidations of long positions:

During the sudden price spike on February 26th, all spot Bitcoin ETFs outperformed BTC by at least 0.5% during U.S. stock market trading hours. The ETFs also set a record for daily trading volume since the launch, surpassing $2.6B, and record inflows. It is worth noting that ETFs are less efficient instruments than direct crypto ownership due to fees and other aspects.
