So we shall not salute her in our usual way [with the Hail Mary], because it would cause her sorrows to increase. She would say, "Why do you say 'Hail,' because I am full of all grief and pain, bitterness and misery," etc. If we were to say, "The Lord is with thee," she would say, "The Lord is not with me, because they have taken him from me and crucified him." If we would say, "Blessed," she would say, "Why do you call me 'blessed,' because everyone speaks ill of me." And so we shall not salute her. But less we preach without devotion, let us turn to God hanging on the cross crucified saying, "We adore you O Christ and we bless you, because by your cross you have redeemed the world,"

🌹Happy Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception🌹
Most holy Virgin,
who pleased our Lord and became His Mother,
Virgin Immaculate in your body and soul,
in your faith and love,
at this solemn jubilee of the promulgation of the dogma
which proclaimed you
to the entire world as conceived without sin,
look kindly on us, unfortunate ones,
who implore your powerful protection.
The infernal serpent,
upon whom the primeval curse was laid,
continues, alas, to attack and tempt
the hapless children of Eve.
Ah! Do you, our blessed Mother,
our Queen and Advocate,
who at the first moment of your conception
did crush the enemy’s head,
do you gather together our prayers
and we beseech you (our hearts one with yours),
present them before God’s throne,
that we may never allow ourselves
to be caught in the snares laid for us
but that we may reach the portal of salvation
and that the Church and Christian society
may once more chant the hymn of deliverance,
of victory and of peace.
Amen
Pope St Pius X
Rejoice and be glad that so great and good a Lord, on coming into the Virgin’s womb, willed to appear despised, needy, and poor in this world, so that men who were in dire poverty and suffering great need of heavenly food might be made rich in him.”

He grew up in a Christian family that served as officials during the waning Roman Empire. During this time in Church History being Christian was separated by Believing and Sacramental. St Ambrose was not baptized until several days before coming bishop. After serving as Governor of Ameilia-Liguria he retired to Milan. In 374 the Bishop of Milan died and at this time the laity had input on who would be their next bishop. The crowd began to argue and Ambrose being trained claimed the crowd. When a small child said, “Ambrose for Bishop,” the crowd agreed. Ambrose then hid for several days but his friend brought him out from hiding.

Today's Mystery:
The Way of the Cross
Today's Daily Decade, on the Feast of St. Leocadia of Toledo, offers an Itinerarium prayer for George, a very long-time listener who is travelling to the Indian Subcontinent for work and will be leaving his family here in America. Go with God, my friend!
Today's reflection is on the Way of the Cross, why it is normal and human to have an aversion to suffering, and how we can perfect ourselves by imitating Christ with His perfect resignation, willing to die on the Cross after His Agony in the Garden, or the saints who actively desire suffering for Christ's sake, to "fill up those things that are wanting of the sufferings of Christ" (Col i, 24).
God love you!

REMINDER: HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION
December 8: Immaculate Conception of Mary
---
All Catholic faithful are reminded that tomorrow, December 8, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, is a Holy Day of Obligation. We are expected to attend the celebration of the Holy Eucharist either on site or online (depending on community restrictions).
The Blessed Virgin in the History of Christianity
Immaculate Conception
Mary’s freedom from sin, present at her conception, is already taught by St. Ephraem in the fourth century. In one of his hymns, he addresses Our Lord, “Certainly you alone and your Mother are from every aspect completely beautiful. There is no blemish in you my Lord, and no stain in your Mother.”
By the seventh century, the feast of Mary’s Immaculate Conception was celebrated in the East. In the eight century, the feast was commemorated in Ireland, and from there spread to other countries in Europe.
In the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, some leading theologians, even saints, raised objections to the Immaculate Conception. Their main difficulty was how Mary could be exempt from all sin before the coming of Christ. Here the Franciscan Blessed John Duns Scotus (1266-1308) stood firm and paved the way for the definition of the Immaculate Conception by Pope Blessed Pius IX in 1854.
In the words of Pope Blessed Pius IX, “We declare, pronounce, and define that the doctrine which holds that the most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instant of her conception…was preserved from all stain of original sin, is a doctrine revealed by God and therefore to be believed firmly and constantly by all the faithful.”
Four years after the definition, Our Lady appeared to St. Bernadette in Lourdes, identifying herself as the Immaculate Conception. The numerous miracles at Lourdes are a divine confirmation of the doctrine defined by Pius IX. They are also a confirmation of the papal primacy defined by the First Vatican Council under the same Bishop of Rome.

“Let your door stand open to receive God,
unlock your soul to God,
offer Him a welcome in your mind,
and then you will see
the riches of simplicity,
the treasures of peace,
the joy of grace.
Throw wide the gate of your heart,
stand before the Sun of the everlasting Light.”
- St. Ambrose of Milan
During his time as Bishop he became the spiritual father of Augustine of Hippo baptizing him into the Church, he is the founder of Marianology, established the tradisition of the altar is higher than the thrown, challenging the authority of the Emperor Theodosius and Empress Justina, and he is also the the one who took the western church liturgies from Greek to Latin. He is the patron saint of: Learning, School Children, Students, Bees, Bee Keepers, Candle Makers, Domestic Animals, Milan, Italy.

Today's Mystery:
The Assumption of Mary
Today's Daily Decade, on the Feast of St. Ambrose of Milan, offers prayers for an anonymous friend of long-time listener from the Telegram channel Alithea Xediplothike; this young man is apparently considering abandoning the Faith. We beg the intercession of St. Ambrose himself, who converted St. Augustine, that this anonymous servant of God be strengthened.
Today's reflection focuses on the Assumption as a special gift given to Mary to exceed the tremendous mercies and gifts God already offers to the rest of us as the wages of our imperfect service to Him, manifesting the patience he showed to the ancient Hebrews and the Jews of Christ's own time. (I also digress for a time into the subject of incorruptibility).
God love you!
