- This is a pretty complete summary. You can do some additional research on the differences between Holo Hosting and Holochain. HoloFuel and HOT. etc. Someone else here may also provide some links to specific articles. Otherwise check out holochain.org and holo.host

- Holochain is a protocol for local first distributed applications that have no servers. Holochain applications run on the users computers and so some sort of run-time environment for a hApp [Holochain App] needs to be installed on each computer. (Or phone in the case of Volla) Because Holochain is a protocol there is no built in fee for data exchanges between Holochain nodes. Just like you don’t pay for using SMTP the email protocol. You just use it.
- Holo is a way for Holochain developers to make their hApps easily available to anyone with a web browser. No need to install anything. Just like nobody installs, Facebook, AirTable, or Trello. What we now call Web2. Software as a service (SaaS). Holo is a distributed network of Holochain hosting. Holo Hosts can provide this service for a fee.
- HoloFuel is the intended way for Hosting to be paid for. HoloFuel is a mutual credit accounting system. It is not a crypto token. It is designed for high volume micropayments with rapid settlement.
- HOT is an ERC20 token that was minted and sold to raise money for the development of Holochain and Holo. It is a coupon [not a security, or ownership in Holo] to eventually be redeemed for HoloFuel.

- Keep in mind that everything I'm describing here, has never been done before. There are some pieces of technology and computing ideas that have been around for a while, but never combined in this way. So development of Holochain and Holo are new frontiers. It is not plug and play. It is not like most copy/past crypto/web3 projects out there.

- Holochain is a programming protocol. Developers have to come up with their own business models to make money. Just like Email providers and Email program devs sell their software or provide some sort of value add for their customers.
- Holo Hosting is a business. Hosts expect to get paid for their resources. Originally Holo network was going to launch with HoloFuel as its payment system and HOT holders would exchange their HOT tokes for HoloFuel credits. Or cash out to someone else who wanted to trade for the HoloFuel. In the mean time the folks at Holo Ltd & Holochain have been in conversations with other companies who would like to use HoloFuel as the payment currency in their projects. This is happening sooner than was expected and has resulted in the Holo Hosting project becoming more complicated. This increased complexity requires reorganizing business entities to meet demands that were not expected for some time to come. Paid Holo Hosting will begin by accepting payment for services in HOT with HoloFuel payments being accepted after HF is ready.

- Volla Phone is a project that decided to use Holochain for its secure messaging platform and data backup system. It has nothing to do with HOT, HoloFuel, or Holo Hosting. Unless they decide to host their services on Holo. Which they can do whether Holo accepts HOT or HF, or anything else as payment.
