In Holochain I don’t have domains because happs are not accessible through the web browser.

In Holo-Host there are Domains and it’s accessible through Webbrowsers.






Are Domains in Holo-Host necessary?

How will this be like for the End User?
Will he Access the app via Holo-Host then?

Every time a breaking change is introduced the app needs to be refactored. The number of breaking changes has reduced dramatically, and the nature of the changes is getting more trivial, which is awesome. Yet it's still not a secure beta, meaning that security testing has yet to happen on many components. If there's one app that everyone will try to hack (including state actors) it's the HoloDEX. And while Holochain's security model is next level good, it's not been tested yet. A simple bug could be bad. And while it may not matter that much for a social media app, it does matter for a financial app that will plug into blockchains, banks and potentially many other financial appliances and applications.
If we had heaps of cash, or a wealthy sponsor I would start development immediately and help the development of the Holochain core as we go. It's how things should be done! But at this stage we don't have the spare funds and right now the longer we wait the cheaper development costs become and the faster we will actually get the build done. I believe that if we started to build 6 months ago we would have the same finish date as if we started today. The sweet spot is coming, and soon. In the meantime we are working on the legals and finding parties who are interested in sponsoring a fractal of the HoloDEX. 1. It provides development funds. 2 when HoloDEX launches it would be awesome to have an ecosystem ready to go.
I would love to see a HoloDEX for the energy market, farmers markets, Regional and national trade, Water trading, Share trading (one for every country and jurisdiction, and international), etc. There's a lot of opportunities for this type of investor.

Please try to understand. HOLO Network, as you know, is that thing that allows you to access a Holochain hApp via web browser. So your hApp obviously has a domain in the Holo Network. And you reach her with her domain as www.ALEX. XXX with the browser. I don't understand what's strange.

Well, in holochain, there is no built-in concept of domain names since we can’t access a happ via a web browser (that’s what holo is for). Holochain dnas are identified by its hash, and you can only access that dna if you have it installed on your local node, there is no “globally accessible place” to communicate with the DNA, it is always through agents.

In holo-host, where hApps are accessible through normal web browsers, you can associate a domain name to a particular happ hosted on the holoports. Holo’s infrastructure takes care of resolving the domain to the appropriate dna, and now your browser connects to one of the holoports hosting that dna.

BTW, it is not straightforward to develop a fully decentralized domain name app in holochain, like it is in other platforms. Consider partitions in the network. If two people buy the domain name when the network is partitioned, both buys are valid, and when the network merges, we have to resolve the conflict somehow. But this introduces vector attacks also… One definitive way is to introduce some authority that holds the names from moment 0, and then we can validate that the authority didn’t sell the same domain to two people.
