IELTS Writing Task 1: Model Answer
The bar chart compares the energy consumption and expense of operating 16 different items of household equipment. Overall, we can see significant differences in both cost and consumption.
To begin with, there are some common household items which consume relatively little energy. These include an electric blanket (approx. $10 or 100kwh/year), a microwave oven (approx. $15 or 150kwh/year) and a television (approx. $17 or 170kwh/year).
By contrast, devices that might be classified as ‘luxury’ items such as a pool pump or spa are comparatively expensive and energy-intensive, at nearly $125 or 1500kwh/year and around $190 or 2225kwh/year respectively.
It is interesting to note that even among household items normally considered alike, such as a microwave and refrigerator, there are enormous discrepancies in cost and energy use. The former uses only around $15 or 150kwh/year, while the latter consumes at least six times that amount at $90 or 1150kwh/year.
In conclusion, it appears that there is no clear pattern in the relative energy consumption of domestic equipment, although households had better be aware of the high running costs of luxury items such as a pool pump and spa.

🔴 A useful Strategy to answer this question :
👓Although everyone might have a self chosen strategy to answer this type of question .but I believe that you're going to be assessed in four criteria
👉🏾Grammar range and accuracy
👉🏾Lexical resource
👉🏾Pronunciation
👉🏾Fluency
🔵There have been so many students that were really perfect in choosing proper Vocabularies and the same time they could demonstrate a good level of fluency and pronunciation but they failed to get scores upper than 7 in their speaking test. The answer is simple. Because they could not prove the examiner that they know a vide range of grammar and accuracy despite the fact that they were really aware of them. Remember that this is an exam that you should prove yourself only in these criteria that the examiners EXPECT . Nothing more!
👉🏾 So, I recommend my students to use a strategy that shows the examiner that you can use a wide range of grammars accurately . Here is what I suggest :
☘ Introduction
☘ Past times
☘ Describe
☘ Opinion and feeling
☘ Future
👓 what does it mean?
It means you need to organize your answer like this structure and show off your ability to use any tenses of the verbs in English

♦️The psychological battles of learning a language outside of the country where it’s spoken can often be harder to overcome than the practical challenges. I'd like to address those first.
When it comes to English learning (or any language learning), your biggest challenge will most likely be staying motivated for the long term. Your language skills will not develop overnight so taking it slow and steady is the key. Be patient and don't give up. This is what will make or break your success.
📘So, first and foremost, think about why you are learning English in the first place. Chances are, if you hate English or you feel you are being forced to learn English, you will not progress. I’ve observed this in hundreds of students (and myself in learning other languages). So if you're not sure, think about it for awhile. True motivation comes about for an infinite number of reasons; not one reason is better than the other as long as it genuinely inspires you. Having passion or a goal makes it easier to take the steps to get there.
📙Second point of advice: get hungry. The successful students are "hungry" to improve. They are always looking for another way to practice; something else to read; or another good TV series or film to watch. Luckily, there are tons of things to read, watch, or listen to online that are in English. Just search for whatever interests you and engage with it.
📘After you’ve set your goals and you have pumped yourself up, accessing and interacting with the material and resources to become a good speaker of English will be much easier.
♦️The practical steps to improve your spoken English:
📕Listen (and read). You need to adjust your ear to the sounds of the language. Depending on your level, what you listen to and especially what you read will differ. Listening will help most with pronunciation and intonation and reading will help most with expanding your vocabulary and grammar. By engaging with music, film, and television you'll also gain a cultural reference point that is helpful in speaking with native speakers.
📚Here are some suggestions to get you started (although, really almost anything in English will do):
♦️The Beatles Playlist (Greatest Hits)
♦️Learning English with BBC new reports written in simpler English
♦️Wikipedia in Simple English, written specifically for English language learners in mind
♦️Films from these lists: The 100 greatest American films or AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies (many titles are listed on both lists) or 100 Best British Films: The full list
📙Make notes. In the beginning, understanding every word is not as important as exposing yourself and getting the basic idea of what's happening. As you progress and want to learn a new word or phrase, make a note of it. I keep a very small notebook and have an application on my phone that I use only for this purpose. These notes make it easy to review my new words while I’m at school, waiting for someone, etc.). The key here is not to write everything down - just the words that struck you as important or useful. The process of writing itself will help you remember it.
📘Practice. This is the most important step. If you want to get better at speaking you're going to need to speak. I wrote more about where you can find free and paid native speakers to speak with in a non-English environment here: How can I find a native English Speaker to practice English?.
📗As speaking face-to-face can sometimes be intimidating, I recommend a native friend. Students of mine have struggled in the past to find someone to speak with and give them valuable feedback, so I hope being here in telegram solves this issue.

I work with and train many students from high school through to university and professionals who are furthering their education and one of the biggest challenges most of them face is constantly being distracted.
1⃣So rule number one when it comes to studying effectively is to remove your distractions, turn your phone off and create an environment in your house or at work or at school where you can focus on your work... create your own sanctuary for learning.
2⃣Rule number two: Work in small blocks of time, I notice too many students who are over studying and that is usually the least effective way to absorb information. You want to work in 15 - 45 minute blocks of intense focus without distractions.
Once you have studied and applied yourself intensely for whatever period of time you can handle, then you have to get into the habit of going for walk or exercising for 10 - 20 minutes before you hit the books again. Walking or working out between study sessions will allow you to be more effective in your next session but it will also help you to be more mindful and absorb the material you have just been studying on a subconscious level.
3⃣Rule number three: study in the early hours of morning when you have a fresh mind, body and spirit. If your study and education is so important to you, why would you wait until the end of the day when you are feeling exhausted to study? Not to mention there are no distractions before 5am...
4⃣Rule number four: studying is like any other discipline in life - it requires you to take a holistic approach, so you have to factor in diet, rest, exercise and your overall wellbeing. Don't expect great results if you're busy partying, drinking, eating junk food and going to bed at all hours of the day... You're in training right now and that means you have to train your body, mind and soul so you can perform at your highest level and learn your craft.
Remember you're not studying to just pass a test - you're studying to learn so you can apply that knowledge in some useful way in your life.
