🌱🌱🌱The Benefits of Habits🌱🌱🌱

Once formed, habits operate automatically. Habits take otherwise difficult tasks—like saving money—and make them easy.

The purpose of a well-crafted set of habits is to ensure that we reach our goals with incremental steps. The benefits of a systematic approach to achievement include the following:

Habits can mean we overshoot our goals. Let’s say a person’s goal is to write a novel. They decide to write 200 words a day, so it should take 250 days. Writing 200 words takes little effort, and even on the busiest, most stressful days, the person gets it done. However, on some days, that small step leads to their writing 1000 or more words. As a result, they finish the book in much less time. Yet setting “write a book in four months” as a goal would have been intimidating.

🌱🌱🌱Habits are easy to complete🌱🌱🌱


As Duhigg wrote,

Habits are powerful, but delicate. They can emerge outside our consciousness or can be deliberately designed. They often occur without our permission but can be reshaped by fiddling with their parts. They shape our lives far more than we realize—they are so strong, in fact, that they cause our brains to cling to them at the exclusion of all else, including common sense.”

Once we develop a habit, our brains actually change to make the behavior easier to complete. After about 30 days of practice, enacting a habit becomes easier than not doing so.

Habits are for life. Our lives are structured around habits, many of them barely noticeable. According to Duhigg’s research, habits make up 40% of our waking hours. These often minuscule actions add up to make us who we are. William James (a man who knew the problems caused by bad habits) summarized their importance as such:

All our life, so far as it has definite form, is but a mass of habits — practical, emotional, and intellectual — systematically organized for our weal or woe, and bearing us irresistibly toward our destiny, whatever the latter may be.

Once a habit becomes ingrained, it can last for life (unless broken for some reason).

1. Don’t settle for little when you have potential to do much more. Just, like butterfly didn’t limit itself to be a caterpillar.
2. Don’t give up. The struggle you are in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow.
3. Sometimes, struggles are exactly what we need in our lives. If God allowed us to go through our life without any obstacles, it would cripple us.
4. Sometimes a “breaking down” must occur in order for restructuring to begin
5. Be open to change. Be willing to be transformed. Without change, nothing beautiful would happen. You have to give up who you are to become who you might be.
6. Life is like a butterfly — we go through changes before we become something beautiful. No stage is permanent. When bad things happen, we should say, “This too shall pass.”
7. Don’t harm others. Butterflies pass through so many painful stages of their life then also they don’t harm others but simply live their life. Similarly, if we can silently endure our hardships without hurting others then that adds beauty to our hardship and above all makes us a better human being.

कैसे बने रहें - चिरयुवा

1. फालतू की संख्याओं को दूर फेंक आइए। जैसे- उम्र, वजन, और लंबाई। इसकी चिंता डॉक्टर को करने दीजिए। इस बात के लिए ही तो आप उन्हें पैसा देते हैं।

2. केवल हँसमुख लोगों से दोस्ती रखिए। खड़ूस और चिड़चिड़े लोग तो आपको नीचे गिरा देंगे।

3. हमेशा कुछ सीखते रहिए। इनके बारे में कुछ और जानने की कोशिश करिए - कम्प्यूटर, शिल्प, बागवानी, आदि कुछ भी। चाहे रेडियो ही। दिमाग को निष्क्रिय न रहने दें। खाली दिमाग शैतान का घर होता है और उस शैतान के परिवार का नाम है - अल्झाइमर मनोरोग।

4. सरल व साधारण चीजों का आनंद लीजिए।

5. खूब हँसा कीजिए - देर तक और ऊँची आवाज़ में।

6. आँसू तो आते ही हैं। उन्हें आने दीजिए, रो लीजिए, दुःख भी महसूस कर लीजिए और फिर आगे बढ़ जाइए। केवल एक व्यक्ति है जो पूरी जिंदगी हमारे साथ रहता है - वो हैं हम खुद। इसलिए जबतक जीवन है तबतक 'जिन्दा' रहिए।

7. अपने इर्द-गिर्द वो सब रखिए जो आपको प्यारा लगता हो - चाहे आपका परिवार, पालतू जानवर, स्मृतिचिह्न-उपहार, संगीत, पौधे, कोई शौक या कुछ भी। आपका घर ही आपका आश्रय है।

8. अपनी सेहत को संजोइए। यदि यह ठीक है तो बचाकर रखिए, अस्थिर है तो सुधार करिए, और यदि असाध्य है तो कोई मदद लीजिए।

9. अपराध-बोध की ओर मत जाइए। जाना ही है तो किसी मॉल में घूम लीजिए, पड़ोसी राज्यों की सैर कर लीजिए या विदेश घूम आइए। लेकिन वहाँ कतई नहीं जहाँ खुद के बारे में खराब लगने लगे।
