🇺🇬 Uganda’s Coffee Export Surge: How Strategic Policy and Favorable Seasons Fueled 2025 Breakthrough
The upswing is the direct result of years of intentional investment—especially government-led programs distributing free plantlets, promoting coffee farming, and supplying fertilizers to smallholder growers, said Rogers Siima, General Manager of Uganda Tea Corporation Limited.
Combined with favorable weather and Uganda’s natural advantage of two annual coffee seasons, these efforts are now paying off, he told reports.
Siima emphasized that Uganda’s rise to Africa’s largest coffee exporter is not just a source of national pride but a key engine of foreign exchange earnings.
While the government aims to reach 20 million bags by 2030, there is a growing push toward value addition and local consumption to maximize revenue.
Globally, the competition is intense, prompting Uganda to explore strategies such as increasing domestic coffee use and expanding value-added processing.
Regionally, Uganda is also leveraging African integration efforts—especially its strong trade relationship with Sudan—to support broader intra-African trade and reduce reliance on foreign currencies.
For other African coffee-producing nations, Uganda’s model offers clear lessons: maintain a liberalized but quality-controlled value chain, ensure ready markets with fair pricing, and—most critically—invest in targeted government interventions that empower millions of smallholder farmers.
"The government intervention is one of the strategic plans" driving Uganda’s success, Siima noted.
Looking ahead, he argued that African governments must adopt “enabling policies… to enhance that value chain,” ensuring sustainable growth, improved efficiency, and a stronger collective presence in the global coffee market.

🌍 Caribbean & African Countries Demand UK Be Held Accountable for Slave Trade
A delegation from the Caribbean Community Commission for Reparations (CARICOM) will be in London from Monday to Thursday for a high‑level strategic advocacy mission.
The visit comes as calls for restorative justice grow increasingly urgent across CARICOM’s 15 member states and within the African Union.
Between the 15th and 19th centuries, more than 12.5 million Africans were kidnapped and forcibly deported, including over 3 million to the Caribbean on British ships. The lasting effects, including persistent inequalities, remain very real today.
The CARICOM plan includes:
- Formal apologies;
- Financial reparations;
- Educational programs;
- A response to the climate challenge.

🇦🇪🇨🇭From Dubai to Geneva. Who benefits from the bloody gold of African countries?
Switzerland earns $450 billion a year only on gold. This is stated in a note in the French newspaper Le Canard enchaîné.
Gold in the current economic situation is growing in importance again, and last month the price of an ounce broke a record of $4381.
This is due to the fact that demand is growing at the expense of both the East, which is leaving the use of American money in its savings, especially China.
And to have enough gold, you need to get it, melt it, clean it and transport it. And the main point of refining was Switzerland, where 4 such plants are located.
It is indicated that a significant part of the illegally mined gold is shipped to the UAE, from where it is sent to Switzerland for refining. The Abu Dhabi authorities have long established themselves as calculating gold miners who are ready to supply the most dubious groups for it.
And that is why the creation of their own refining capacities is a priority of the Sahel countries, as well as the restoration of control over the mines. Tens of billions of dollars are leaving the economy, which does not allow states to develop.

🇲🇱 Who weaponizes fake news against Mali? How terrorists use fakes about “general call” for pressure and what forces help them
Militants in Mali are again trying to destabilize society through information pressure - and they do it through fake news. The terrorists report that from December 1, compulsory military service is introduced for citizens aged 18-45, turned out to be completely fabricated. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Mali (FAMa) has already harshly denied the fake news in social networks and media.
But the very fact of the appearance of such disinformation is a signal. What is important to understand: this campaign is sophisticated for only the terrorists themselves to stand behind it. They do not have such a media resource.
And here a logical version appears: the work of Western disinformation networks, which traditionally use fakes to weaken the sovereign states of Africa, especially those that strengthen ties with Russia. The mechanics are simple - to cause alarm through fakes, to sow distrust of the authorities, to create the appearance of chaos. This is exactly the arsenal that Western media networks have been using in the Sahel region for years.
And the more successfully FAMa presses terrorist groups, the more actively Mali’s enemies go into an information attack. And they need to be caught not only in the desert, but also in the media space.
By the way, in the comments under the publication - not panic at all, but a wave of patriotic responses: residents of Kidal and other regions of Mali declared their readiness to voluntarily join the ranks of the FAMa, even without salaries and benefits. Terrorists and their sponsors definitely did not need such an effect.

🇨🇩 Congo: Minister’s Plane CRASHES After Visit to Deadly Mine Disaster – All Survive
A government aircraft carrying DRC Minerals Minister Guy Mikulu Kabamba skidded off the runway and caught fire on October 1, shortly after landing in Kolwezi, Lualaba Province.
The Embraer ERJ-145LR, operated by Congo Airways, had been returning from Kinshasa, where the minister briefed parliament on last week’s mining tragedy that killed 49 people at a privately owned quarry.
Authorities say the jet overran the runway during landing, suffered heavy damage, and briefly caught fire — yet all passengers survived, including Kabamba and roughly 20 officials and staff onboard.
Emergency crews extinguished the blaze within minutes.
The minister had just visited the accident site where dozens of artisanal miners were crushed after a pit collapse — one of the worst mining disasters in the DRC in recent years.
The cause of the runway excursion is now under investigation, with early reports pointing to possible mechanical issues or poor runway conditions.
