The day of ‘Ashura is the tenth day of Muharram.
For those is Saudi and Gulf countries:
16th July = 10th Muharram (Ashura)
On the authority of Abu Qataada -RadhiAllaahu anhu- that the Messenger of Allaah –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– was asked about the fast of the day of‘Ashura, so he answered: ‘It expiates the sins of the previous year.’
Narrated by Muslim and other than him, and by Ibn Majah and his wording is: ‘The fast of the day of ‘Ashura; Indeed the reward that Irequest from Allaah is that He expiates the sins of the year before this year.’
Furthermore, it is recommended to fast a day after `Âshurâ’, that is to say, the eleventh day of the month of Al-Muharram, as it is narrated in an authentic and Mauqûf text according to Ibn `Abbâsرضي الله عنهما: “Fast the day of `Âshurâ’, be different from Jews, fast one day before it or one day after it”. Al-Hâfidh (Ibn Hajar) رحمه الله said, “…Fasting `Âshurâ’ comes under three categories, the lowest is to fast it alone, better than it, is to fast the ninth day with it, and the best is to fast the ninth and the eleventh days with it”.

Most certainly, the master of mankind ﷺ was the strongest of men.
And he had the ability to do Hajj from Madīnah to the Sacred House of Allāh (Makkah) on foot, likewise all of his noble companions.
However, they did not do any of that.
The Prophet ﷺ only did Hajj on his she-camel as is well-known.
So, who is able to make the claim that the Prophet ﷺ did not have that strong desire to get closer to Allah with what He legislated (i.e., what is favored),
and he left making Hajj upon foot whilst he was able!?
And in the claim of this innovator, making Hajj on foot is better.
Here this issue becomes a bid'ah (innovation in religion).
That's because he intended worship in a matter that Allāh - tabaraka wa ta'ala - did not legislate upon the tongue of his Prophet ﷺ or through his clarification which also includes actions.
As opposed to if we boarded a plane today, the plane without doubt is something new. However, this is included in al-masalih al-mursalah (lawful means).
That's because it makes it easy for the people to perform Hajj to the Sacred House of Allah.
This worldly life is like an unchaste woman – Ibn al Qayyim
A Precious Gem: This Life of Deception
This worldly life is like an unchaste woman, who is not satisfied with one husband. So! be satisfied with whatever Allah grants you from this worldy life.
Walking thereon is like walking in a land that is filled with beasts, and water that teams with crocodiles. That which causes delight, turns to be the source of grief. Pain is found in the midst of pleasures, and delights are derived from its sorrows. As a bird sees the wheat, so does one’s insight perceive polytheism, while vain desires render its holder blind. Lusts were granted in abundance to humans, but those who believed in the unseen turned away from them! while those who follow their lusts were caused to regret.
The first category, are those, in which Allah says, which means, “They are on (true) guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful.” (AI-Baqarah, 2:5)
However, the other category, are those to whom Allah says which means, “(0 you disbelievers)! Eat and enjoy yourselves (in this worldly life) for a little while. Verily, you are the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.).” (AI-Mursalat,77:46)
When the successful ones are aware of the reality of this worldly life being sure of the inferiority of its degree, they overcame their vain desires for the sake of the Hereafter. They have been awakened from their heedlessness to remember what their enemies took from them during their period of idleness. Whenever they perceive the distant journey they must undertake, they remember their aim, so it appears easy for them. Whenever life becomes bitter, they remember this verse, in which Allah says, which means, “This is your Day which you were promised”. (Al Anbiya’, 21:103)

💎 Fasting on Āshūrā’ Even While Traveling
Muhammad ibn Shihab al-Zuhri was traveling and he still fasted on the day of Āshūrā’.
So it was said to him: You fast on the day of Āshūrā’ while traveling and you break your fast in Ramadhān?
So he replied: Ramadhān can be made up on other days. However, Āshūrā’ will be missed. (He will not be able to make it up.)

"Everyday two angels come down from heaven and one of them says, 'O Allah! Compensate every person who spends in Your Cause,' and the other (angel) says, 'O Allah! Destroy every miser."'

Narrated `Aisha and `Abdullah bin `Abbas:
When the last moment of the life of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came he started putting his 'Khamisa' on his face and when he felt hot and short of breath he took it off his face and said,
*"May Allah curse the Jews and Christians for they built the places of worship at the graves of their Prophets."* The Prophet (ﷺ) was warning (Muslims) of what those had done.

💎 The Different Levels of People When Faced With Calamities
Shaykh al-Uthaymin رحمه الله said:
Know that when it comes to calamities the people are of different levels:
[1] The grateful
[2] The pleased
[3] The patient
[4] The displeased and anguished
As for the displeased and anguished, then he has committed what is impermissible. He is displeased with the decree of the Lord of all that exists, the One in whose Hands is the heavens and the earth, His is the dominion and He does what He wills.
As for the patient, then he has done what was obligatory. The patient is the one who bears the calamity. Meaning, he sees it as something bitter, as a hardship, and as something difficult. He dislikes that it has occurred. However, he bears it and withholds his soul from that which is impermissible. And this is obligatory.
As for the pleased, he is the one who is not worried about this calamity and he knows that it is from Allah, so he is completely pleased with it and there is no sadness nor regret in his heart because he is completely pleased. His state is higher than the patient.
Therefore being pleased is something that is recommended and not obligatory.
As for the grateful, then he is the one who thanks Allah for the calamity. However, how can he thank Allah for this calamity while it is a calamity?
The answer is from two aspects:
[1] He looks at the one who has been afflicted with that which is greater. So he thanks Allah that He didn’t afflict him with what he was afflicted with. And for this is the Hadith:
Don’t look at those that are above you (regarding the worldly life) but look at those that are below you, so that you don’t belittle the favors of Allah upon you.
[2] That the individual knows that what has occurred with this calamity is an expiation of evil deeds and an elevation of ranks, if he is patient. And that which is in the Hereafter is better for him than the worldly life, so he thanks Allah.
Also the most severe of those regarding calamities are the prophets, then the righteous, then those that are like them. So he hopes that by way of this he is from the righteous. So he thanks Allah for this favor.
