just tried with new group and same happened. In the picture you can see I wrote some messages in the group before enabling topics. And on the next picture after enabling topics, group opened, no messages at all

okay, so your previous messages probably left in that group then. the conversion of the group is not an actual conversion, it makes a new group basically and the old one has all the messages in it

i sometimes access chats from 2017-2019, and tg loads pictures and files from there without any issues. however, i've noticed that the macOS client for tg often struggles with loading older chats, specifically those with the last message dated more than 3-4 years ago

Just double checked, I can confirm all messages were deleted. I didn’t understand what you mean by “old one”. I really think this is bug this time. Because I used to do same operation a lot of times before and messages were put in General topic

My question is not exactly about MacOS client, but I believe it should be relevant. Does telegram move old media/files to archive (like amazon glacier) so it will be difficult (takes a long time) to access them again? I am just accessing 5 years old media and it is taking forever to download.
