Look, I don't know exactly what processes are activated when Telegram can't connect. In my country, Telegram is censored, and I definitely have to use a proxy or VPN. However, I'm not sure what exactly happens when Telegram fails to connect.

Many times, I feel like the Telegram desktop version prevents the connection of other uncensored apps. Because when I completely log out of Telegram, meaning I hit the quit button, the connections of other apps become available. This is how it works on my laptop and desktop computer.

I feel like Telegram desktop, when it sees that it can't connect, consumes(swallows🐲) the maximum capacity of available connections! 😕

There was a bug when Telegram was unable to reconnect, just endless connecting. It was fixed and that's likely just how it looks like on your system.

I disconnected my VPN connection and the Telegram connection was disconnected, but it took about 1 minute for the proxy connection option to appear at the bottom of the screen.


I still have this problem. In very old versions of Telegram this option would quickly appear at the bottom of the screen if the connection was lost. But now it doesn't.
