🇪🇺🇵🇸❌🇮🇱 NEW: The European Union is weighing the suspension of parts of its Association Agreement with Israel due to concerns over human rights violations in Gaza, according to a leaked draft document obtained by POLITICO.

➡️ The European External Action Service (EEAS) has proposed several options, including a full or partial suspension of the agreement, which governs trade and cooperation between the EU and Israel.

➡️ One possible move would be suspending political dialogue with Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government, something that would require unanimous support from all 27 EU member states.

➡️ However, suspending the trade chapter, which would revoke Israeli trade preferences, could be decided by a qualified majority, making it more feasible.

➡️ Other options include banning imports from illegal West Bank settlements, a move that would also require consensus, though individual member states could adopt it unilaterally. Additional measures being considered involve excluding Israel from EU programs like Erasmus and Horizon and curbing technical cooperation.

➡️ These discussions follow an EEAS assessment indicating Israel may be breaching its human rights obligations under Article 2 of the EU-Israel Agreement.

➡️ EU foreign ministers are expected to discuss the proposals at a summit on Tuesday.

➡️ Small drones (Groups 1 and 2) are now categorized as consumables, not durable assets, removing bureaucratic hurdles to acquisition and training. Commanders are also instructed to expand training ranges, conduct live-fire and swarm tests, and fast-track drone combat integration by 2026.
