We strongly condemn the devastating terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney on 14 December 2025, resulting in multiple victims, including the tragic loss of innocent lives. Terrorism in any form has no justification.
Russia and its citizens have repeatedly been targets of terrorist attacks. We deeply feel for and sympathise with the suffering of the victims and the grief of those who have lost their family members and loved ones.
The Embassy and the Consulate-General of the Russian Federation are liaising with local law enforcement authorities to ascertain information regarding Russian citizens affected by the barbaric shooting. We are awaiting a response to our inquiries. At present, no requests for assistance have been received from Russian citizens or their relatives.
We are also in contact with Russian compatriots residing here. Regrettably, according to them, among the victims of the terrorist attack are persons originating from our country and their family members. We convey our deepest condolences to the victims and to the people of Australia in this difficult time.

⚡️ Bank of Russia:
On 3 December 2025, the European Commission published on its website the press release ‘Commission unveils two solutions to support Ukraine’s financing needs in 2026–2027’ and the draft regulation ‘Proposal establishing the Reparations Loan to Ukraine’, providing for unauthorised use of Bank of Russia assets held by European financial institutions, including the Euroclear depository. In view of the above, the Bank of Russia makes the following statement 👇
The proposed solutions where Bank of Russia assets may be used directly or indirectly or any other forms of unauthorised use of Bank of Russia assets are unlawful and contradict international law, including in respect of immunity of sovereign assets.
The release and implementation of the proposals announced on the European Commission’s website will certainly make the Bank of Russia challenge any direct or indirect activities that may result in the unauthorised use of Bank of Russia assets, file lawsuits with all available competent bodies, including national courts, judicial authorities of foreign states and international organisations, commercial courts, and other international judicial authorities, and seek enforcement of court decisions in UN member states.
The Bank of Russia reserves the right, without further notice, to apply all available remedies and protections if the proposed initiatives of the European Union are upheld or implemented.
⚡️ The 2025 Report On Violations of the Rights of Russian Citizens and Compatriots in Foreign Countries by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
📖 Read the full report
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation is consistently paying close attention in its work to violations of the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens and compatriots in foreign countries and makes considerable efforts to protect the interests of our compatriots within the authority of its diplomatic missions. <...>
Russians continue to be subjected to barbaric discrimination, primarily in Europe and North America where persist wide-spread and already known violations of the rights of Russians, such as:
• denial of a wide range of services (educational, medical, banking, etc.);
• imposition of measures against Russian businesses;
• seizure of property of Russian citizens;
• forcing them to public repentance;
• condemnation of the actions of Russian authorities;
• suspension of Russian athletes from sports and cultural events.
There are continued reports of attacks, threats and insults against Russians, deliberate damage of their property and all sorts of discrimination in everyday life. <...>
In the light of support for the Neo-nazi regime in Kiev demonstrated by the collective West, the most Russophobic policy is pursued by Poland, Baltic States, Ukraine and some other countries.
Under the pretext of "condemning Russian aggression" all these countries have boosted their efforts to fight against monuments and memorials commemorating Red Army soldiers. As true followers of Nazi ideology, they brought Europe almost to the point of paranoia and manic pursuit of any symbol of memory in honour of the fighters against fascism.
Such ignominious acts, inter alia, contradicting the Nuremberg Tribunal decisions, are examined not only in this report, but also in the Russian Foreign Ministry’s reports, such as following:
👉 Eighty Years after the Great Victory: Europe has Once Again Fallen in the Shadow of Nazism;
👉 On the Situation in several European countries with the desecration and destruction of monuments dedicated to those who fought against Nazism during World War II;
👉 Regarding the Situation with the Glorification of Nazism and the Spread of Neo-Nazism and Other Practices That Contribute to Fueling Contemporary Forms of Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance.
In a number of countries (first of all in the Baltic States, the United States, Canada and Ukraine), members of the Russian-speaking community who promote maintaining of cultural, linguistic and historical ties with Russia and advocate constructive relations with our country are facing pressure and repression on the part of authorities.
In addition, the authorities in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine continue squeezing the Russian language out of all educational institutions, thus limiting the right to education in one's native language for their residents (including citizens).
Furthermore, the threat of mass deportation of Russian-speaking residents by the authorities of the Baltic States is persisting which confirms their efforts to find the final solution to the "Russian problem" as well as the unprecedented problem of widespread statelessness in their territories.
In an accelerated way, restricting instruction in Russian and imposing various bans, Finland and Moldavia try to catch up with the "leaders" of Russophobia. <...>
☝️ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, for its part, continues to take all possible diplomatic steps to protect the rights of Russian citizens imprisoned abroad.
<...>
We continue to record cases of foreign authorities' obstructing the activities of Russian journalists and persons representing Russian media.
❗️ We reiterate that all such actions demonstrate the desire of Western countries to eradicate alternative points of view and prevent the realization of one of the basic rights of their citizens, i.e. the right to freedom of expression.
📄 Statement of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation regarding 80th anniversary since the start of the Nuremberg Trials (November, 2025)
Statement in full (Telegraph)
On November 20, 1945, the International Military Tribunal for the trial and punishment of the major war criminals of the European Axis countries (the Nuremberg Trials) commenced its work.
The establishment of the tribunal became possible as a result of the historic Victory of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War.
The Nuremberg Trials established that the war crimes committed by the Nazis were carried out on a scale unprecedented in the history of warfare and were accompanied by unparalleled brutality and terror. The atrocities of the Nazis in the temporarily occupied territories of the Soviet Union were extremely inhumane and reached an especially massive scale. Mass killings of Soviet citizens and atrocities against them were all part of a plan to exterminate civilians and colonise the invaded territory.
The Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation views the verdicts of the Nuremberg Trials as a cornerstone of the present-day world order. The principles of international law as set forth in the Nuremberg Charter and its verdicts were reaffirmed in UN General Assembly Resolution 95(1) of December 11, 1946.
The Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation recalls that the war unleashed by Nazi Germany against the USSR left 27 million Soviet citizens dead and emphasises that the act of displacing and exterminating civilians in the USSR by the Nazis and their accomplices as recognised by the verdicts of the Nuremberg Trials must be viewed as an act of genocide against the peoples of the Soviet Union.
The Senators of the Russian Federation call on all UN member states to support the resolution “Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance”, which is submitted annually for consideration by the UN General Assembly.
The Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation states that some Western countries have been seeking to cast the outcomes of the Nuremberg Trials into oblivion, contributing to the rehabilitation of Nazism and undermining the international legal framework resulting from the Yalta and Potsdam conferences that has helped prevent a new world war for 80 years.
❗️ The Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation calls on all countries and nations around the world to respect and defend the principles as devised during the Nuremberg Trials for preventing wars, acts of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, as well as countering the emergence of Nazism and fascism in any form, while also opposing attempts to revise the outcomes of World War II and falsifying its history.
Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremony for presenting Gold Star medals to Heroes of Russia
Today, the military personnel honoured with the Hero of Russia title will receive awards. They have demonstrated exceptional courage and valour while performing their missions in the special military operation zone. Under extremely challenging combat conditions, they have shown utmost professionalism, true grit, and leadership, doing their best to ensure that our troops continue to advance in key sectors.
On 8 December, The Australian Financial Review reported on Ukrainian efforts to urge the New South Wales government to use its shareholding in a major financial services firm Euroclear to back Europe’s plan to seize €185 billion (AUD 325 billion) in “frozen” Russian assets to fund the criminal and corrupt neo-Nazi Kiev regime.
It is claimed that the NSW government’s investment manager, known as TCorp, is the ninth-largest shareholder in Euroclear.
The Russian Embassy would like to recall that the idea of providing “reparations” to Ukraine at the expense of Russian assets runs counter to international and contractual law and, if implemented, will be regarded by the Russian side as outright theft and robbery.
Should the Australian or any other government carry out any unauthorised transactions involving our sovereign holdings, Russia will inevitably respond in accordance with the principle of reciprocity, our national interests and the need to compensate for the damage caused to us.
⚡️ Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation:
The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has approved the bill of indictment in the criminal case against the political and military leadership of Ukraine.
📄 FULL LIST (41 individuals)
They are being charged in absentia under Article 357 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (genocide).
According to the investigation, from April 2014 to the present, the accused – together with other officials – while on the territory of Ukraine, gave orders to subordinate Ukrainian military personnel and other armed formations to use firearms, armoured vehicles, combat aviation, missile and artillery weapons against civilians in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, with the intent to commit genocide.
❗️ As a result of Ukrainian punitive operations, almost 5,000 civilians were killed, over 18,500 people were affected, more than 13,500 were wounded, including 1,275 minors.
More than 153,000 civilian infrastructure facilities were partially or completely destroyed, including:
• around 138,000 residential buildings;
• 1,565 educational institutions;
• 847 medical organizations and facilities;
• 1,403 social, industrial and commercial sites;
• at least 11,400 critical service and municipal facilities;
• 505 cultural and sports institutions;
• 205 religious sites.
This caused severe damage to the economy and led to the suppression of key elements of the culture, religion and traditions of the inhabitants of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. Industrial facilities, including city-forming enterprises, ceased operations, resulting in rising unemployment and declining household incomes.
More than 2.3 million civilians were forced to leave their homes. From 2014 until the reunification of the DPR and LPR with Russia, the population declined from 6.5 million to 4.5 million due to displacement, lower birth rates and higher mortality.
The criminal case has been submitted for trial to the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
On 8 December, Sky News Australia aired an interview with Arsen Dmytryk, a lieutenant colonel of the neo-Nazi Azov formation*, described in the broadcast as “one of the best Ukrainian combat units” that “kills Russians”. The report also featured a close-up of Mr Dmytryk’s chevron.
In this regard, a lot of questions arise.
Why did a leading TV channel fail to mention that the chevron bears the Nazi Wolfsangel symbol, which was the tactical mark of the SS Panzer Division “Das Reich” and other SS and Wehrmacht units?
Isn’t it true that Azov’s idol Stepan Bandera was a Nazi collaborator, a terrorist and a convicted murderer? Wasn’t he, together with his trusted lieutenants like Roman Shukhevych, responsible for the mass extermination of Russians, Jews, Poles and even Ukrainians in the Soviet Union and Poland during World War II (e.g., the massacre at Babi Yar in Kiev or the tragedy known as the Volhynia Massacre)?
Why wasn’t it indicated that, over the years since 2014, the Azov fighters conducted punitive operations in Donbass, committing crimes against civilians, including murders and brutal tortures of women and children?
Why was it overlooked that the Azov militants had for years been recruiting Ukrainian children into nationalist formations and indoctrinating them with their racist ideology of hatred of everything Russian?
Shall we ever get answers to these and many other related questions about Ukrainian Nazism and neo-Nazism from Sky News Australia?
Last but not least: doesn’t this interview push the “kill Russians” narrative, inciting hatred based on ethnic origin?

⚡️ Statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Regarding the Vote in the UN General Assembly on the Resolution on the Return of Ukrainian Children (December 5, 2025)
On December 3, the UN General Assembly reviewed the draft resolution titled Return of Ukrainian Children as part of its 11th emergency special session.
Drafted by the Kiev regime, its European curators and the Canadians, this document is filled with lies and hypocrisy and turns reality upside-down.
It professes outrageous statements against Russia by accusing it of what it refers to as deporting Ukrainian children, speaking about their ‘forcible adoption’ and erasing their identity.
No evidence has been presented to back these groundless allegations. There is no mention of the fate of Ukrainian minors who were taken to Europe and lost all contact with their families.
It is obvious that the resolution is primarily intended to divert attention from the total decay of the Kiev regime, mired in corruption and suffering defeat after defeat on the battlefield. It is also part of an effort to discredit our country.
The discussion of the document revealed a division among UN member states on this issue. Western delegations insisted on the "deportation" of Ukrainian children. Representatives of the Global Majority opposed exploiting the issue of children and advocated for the use of political and diplomatic tools.
President of the UN General Assembly’s 80th Session, Annalena Baerbock, made an appalling and outrageous statement, clearly forgetting that she had already left her position as the head of the German Foreign Ministry and is now an international official, obliged to adhere to high standards of professionalism, impartiality, and neutrality. By framing her speech in the Goebbels propaganda mould, Annalena Baerbock has blatantly abused the trust many member states placed in her when they chose to elect her in June.
In the subsequent vote, the resolution received 91 votes "for," with 12 votes "against," 57 abstentions, and 33 absentees.
In other words, more than half – 102 out of 193 – member states refused to support the document in one form or another. Thus, among all the resolutions of the 11th emergency session, this draft received the fewest votes in its favor. It is clear that the European and NATO countries, which have no intention of abandoning its narrow political goals and continue to seek to prolong the conflict in Ukraine, had hoped for a different outcome.
❗️ The Russian Side once again emphasises that any accusations against Russia of "deportation" of Ukrainian children are completely groundless and misleading.
This was exclusively a matter of evacuating minors from combat zones where their lives were at risk. Russia is currently engaged in a systematic effort to reunite families and is ready to cooperate on children's issues with constructive international mediators.

Today, 21 November, marks 12 years since the beginning of the anti-constitutional armed coup d’etat in Kiev. We would like to remind of some aspects of the root causes of the conflict around Ukraine.
The tragic events of the so-called “Euromaidan” were staged in Kiev with the active support of the Western countries, bringing radical nationalist forces supervised by them to power in 2014. The task was to destroy a single historical, economic and spiritual space shared by Ukraine and Russia.
Since 2014, the totalitarian regime in Kiev has been systematically violating human rights and practicing aggressive attitude towards ethnic Russians and Russian-speaking residents of south-eastern Ukraine, murdering people, destroying the Russian language, the Russian Orthodox Church, planting Russophobia, massively falsifying history by glorifying Nazi war criminals.
You can learn about the crimes committed by Ukrainian neo-Nazis at #KievRegimeCrimes.
If anybody has doubts about regime’s nature: Vladimir Zelensky has recently posed in front of the emblem of the 2nd SS Panzer Division “Das Reich”.
There is also the ongoing major corruption scandal in Ukraine, which could hardly be called Russia’s disinformation campaign. There are plenty of facts, even in the Australian media, such as Ukrainian perpetrators [Zelensky’s friends] netting about US$100 million in kickbacks, among other examples.
So draw your own conclusions.
🎙 Russian MFA Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's answer to a media question on the freezing of Russian assets by the EU (December 13, 2025)
❓ Question: How does Russia view the freezing of our assets, and does it intend to take retaliatory steps? If so, what kind?
💬 Maria Zakharova: Using Russia’s sovereign assets without its consent, be it through their indefinite freeze, expropriation, or attempts to palm off their actual confiscation as a “reparation loan”, is a completely unlawful act and a flagrant violation of international law.
☝️ Whatever pseudo-legal tricks Brussels may use to justify this, it amounts to blatant, outright theft.
We recall that Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever– and it is precisely in Belgium that the Euroclear depository is registered, which currently holds the bulk of Russian assets and, consequently, Belgium would suffer most from their de facto confiscation – compared the European Commission’s initiative to “stealing furniture from a foreign embassy”. 👉 A vivid and accurate description.
Attempts to showcase the EU’s much-vaunted “unity” through a decision to indefinitely block the assets of the Bank of Russia have failed spectacularly.
Representatives of a number of EU member states have openly declared their categorical rejection of the blatantly fraudulent scheme engineered by the European Commission with the backing of aggressively Russophobic EU capitals against Russian assets.
The EU’s approach to Russia has long departed from rationality and now increasingly borders on the absurd.
📉 The course of inflicting damage on our country at any cost has already led to dire economic consequences within the EU itself: near-zero economic growth, rapidly rising public debt and budget deficits, declining output and de-industrialisation amid soaring energy costs.
One would think Brussels should have calmed down and come to its senses by now, yet there are no signs of this. The current EU leadership remains gripped by Russophobia and an unhealthy urge to undermine Russian interests in every sphere and on every platform – even where the EU seemingly has no place.
It is increasingly apparent that Ursula von der Leyen and her associates are determined to derail efforts aimed at a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis, by whatever means necessary. Hence the haste and the timing of the decision on Russian assets – a direct strike against the peace initiatives of US President Donald Trump.
It is telling that the European Commission justifies its proposals for the unlawful use of Russian assets by referring to EU legal provisions allowing for emergency measures in the event of a severe economic situation within the EU itself.
👉 Thus, the EU is exposing itself: this is not merely about financing a failed Ukrainian project, but also about a clear attempt to prop up its own economy at the expense of billions in Russian state reserves. The EU has effectively admitted that the Ukrainian burden has become unbearable, forcing it to resort to theft.
Brussels carefully conceals the fact that EU citizens will pay the price for these political ambitions. Our retaliatory measures will not be long in coming.
A detailed statement on this matter was published by the Bank of Russia on December 12. Specific steps are already being implemented.
On the same day, the Russian regulator notified of the filing of a lawsuit with the Moscow Arbitration Court against Euroclear to recover damages incurred by the Bank of Russia.
As for the EU itself, it will be unable to compensate for the damage these actions will inflict on its own financial and economic system – and on its reputation worldwide as a once reliable trade and investment partner.
❗️Such delicts in international relations do not go without consequences.

⛓️ 65 years ago, on December 14, 1960, the 15th UN General Assembly adopted a landmark document: the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples. This historic step was taken on the initiative of the Soviet Union.
The Declaration, drafted and promoted largely through Soviet efforts, became a true milestone in dismantling Western colonial rule in Africa and Asia, providing a powerful impetus for liberation from the grip of European empires.
🌍 Soviet proposals to end colonialism, segregation, and racial discrimination were incorporated into the final text. The Declaration was adopted and entered into force despite strong objections from colonial powers like Britain and France.
The USSR did not just oppose colonialism by word alone, speaking out at multilateral foras and the UN. We actively supported African nations in their fight for freedom, backing the liberation movements of Angola, Ethiopia, Egypt, Mozambique and others.
1960 went down in history as the Year of Africa, witnessing the birth of 17 new independent states. According to the UN, the great wave of decolonisation that followed ultimately freed some 750 million people, with 80 former colonies gaining their sovereignty.
The Soviet Union was among the first to establish diplomatic relations with these young states. We provided comprehensive support: helping to build government institutions, developing industrial production, and constructing vital infrastructure. The Soviet Union played a key role in establishing national education systems and training personnel. Humanitarian aid was delivered both directly and through the UN and its agencies like WHO and UNICEF.
The adoption and implementation of the Declaration is rightfully considered one of the most significant events in modern history. Yet, the struggle for full decolonisation unfortunately did not end with the achievement of political independence.
❗️ Today, the former colonial powers’ reluctance to relinquish global dominance has morphed into neocolonial policies. These target the nations of the Global Majority through illegal sanctions, manipulation of global trade, and the imposition of neoliberal beliefs that deepen worldwide socioeconomic inequality. Attempts to replace the established international legal order with a so-called “rules-based” international order are a clear manifestation of this neocolonialism.
Together with a broad coalition of like-minded partners, Russia continues to spearhead systemic efforts against colonialism. We work through the UN, BRICS, the Standing Committee of the International Movement “For the Freedom of Nations”, and inter-parliamentary channels.
👉 A key recent achievement on this track was the adoption on December 5 of the resolution International Day Against Colonialism in All Its Forms and Manifestations, drafted by the Group of Friends in Defence of the UN Charter.
It is telling that during the vote, as in 1960, the former Western powers once again lacked the courage to support a decision that would bring justice to the nations of the Global Majority.
🗓 With resolution A/RES/80/106, the United Nations has officially proclaimed December 14 the International Day Against Colonialism in All Its Forms and Manifestations. This Day reaffirms the principles of the UN Charter and the 1960 Declaration, emphasising the urgent need to end colonialism in all its forms, completely and unconditionally.
The legacy of the 1960 Declaration is profound: it paved the way for the truly global, polycentric world we see actively taking shape today.

🗓 On December 13, 1958, the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (#UNOOSA) was established to promote international cooperation in the use of outer space for peaceful purposes.
The creation of this new UN Secretariat entity was preceded by the dawn of the space age, ushered in by the launch of the world’s first artificial Earth satellite – Sputnik-1 – by the Soviet Union on October 4, 1957. This achievement not only marked a triumph of Soviet science and a major milestone in global technological progress, but also posed to the international community the task of developing shared rules for the responsible and safe exploration of outer space.
🇺🇳 UNOOSA supports the work of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (#COPUOS), established by a decision of the UN General Assembly in 1959 and now serving as the key multilateral forum for discussing space-related issues.
Within its mandate, UNOOSA:
• maintains the UN Register of Objects Launched into Outer Space;
• acts as the UN coordinating centre for the provision of satellite data in situations of natural disasters and humanitarian crises;
• oversees the UN Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER)
• promotes the implementation of UN international legal instruments on outer space, including the 1967 Outer Space Treaty and related agreements.
A key area of UNOOSA’s work is the creation of conditions for the use of outer space for the benefit of the entire international community. The Office implements the UN Programme on Space Applications, supports capacity-building, knowledge- and technology-sharing, and expands the practical use of space science in support of sustainable socio-economic development, primarily in developing countries.
👉 We note that today UNOOSA continues to play an important role in strengthening equal and responsible cooperation between established spacefaring nations and states that are only beginning to develop their own space programmes, helping to reduce disparities in access to space technologies and services.
🇷🇺 As continuator to the USSR, which opened the space era, Russia consistently upholds the principle that outer space is the common heritage of humankind and must be used on an equal, non-discriminatory basis and exclusively for peaceful purposes. We expect the international community to make every effort to preserve outer space free from confrontation – in the interests of security and sustainable development for present and future generations.
💬 Excerpt from the statement delivered by Deputy Head of the Russian delegation to the First Committee of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, Konstantin Vorontsov (November 3, 2025, New York)
As a responsible space actor and the author of initiatives aimed at preventing an arms race in outer space (#PAROS), the Russian Federation makes a substantial contribution to keeping outer space free of weapons and to preventing its transformation into yet another arena of tension and armed confrontation.Читать полностью…
Our principled position remains unchanged – this objective can be achieved only through the development of a multilateral, legally binding instrument of a comprehensive nature, specifically aimed at PAROS.

#DebunkingFakes
The Kiev regime continues to recycle its baseless accusations regarding “thousands of abducted Ukrainian children” to promote its false narratives. Although this claim has been debunked time and again, it is important to revisit the case and counter #fakes with #facts.
***
In 2014, the Kiev regime that seized power through an unconstitutional and violent coup unleashed punitive operations against the residents of Donetsk and Lugansk (at the time – Ukrainian citizens) who rejected the nationalist forces that installed themselves in power. As early as April 2014, Ukraine's armed forces against the people of Donbass using armoured vehicles, aviation, artillery and rocket systems.
❗️ Thousands of civilians, including hundreds of children, became victims of indiscriminate attacks.
On June 2, 2017, the Alley of Angels memorial was unveiled in Donetsk in honour of the perished children. Back then, the memorial listed 66 names. Today, the number of young victims has already exceeded 300.
Kiev’s atrocities go beyond the killing of children – the regime even resorts to harassing minors online. The infamous “Myrotvorets” website – a public hit list run by Ukrainian neo-Nazi, which is still operational and and is hosted on Western servers, targets almost 400 children.
Among them is Platon Burchenkov – a toddler who will only turn... three years old in January 2026 is accused of “knowingly violating the state border”. Another example is Faina Savenkova – a young blogger from Lugansk, whose personal data was added to “Myrotvorets” when she was barely 12. Ukrainian radicals claim that the teenager “encroached upon the sovereignty” of the entire state.
⚡️ According to Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office, Ukrainian punitive actions have claimed 5,000 civilian lives and left over 13,500 wounded – among them 1,275 minors.
Nevertheless, in April 2023 Kiev began circulating the myth of “20,000 abducted Ukrainian children”. It was first promoted by Ukraine's Commissioner for Children’s Rights Daria Gerasimchuk and quickly amplified by Western mainstream media. The “19,546 deported kids” figure published by the Children of War portal was not backed by any lists, names or individual records.
The Russian side received an actual list of “abducted Ukrainian children” only in 2025 during resumed Russia-Ukraine direct talks in Istanbul. It contained only 339 names, showing that the number of children separated from their families on both sides had been grossly inflated for political PR.
A case-by-case review showed that a large share of those listed as “children” were actually adults who had already turned 18 when the special military operation started. Some were found legally residing in Russia with one of the parents, while over 100 were found in Germany – a revelation Ukraine quickly tried to hide.
Meanwhile, Russia has maintained a clear and transparent family-reunification process, coordinated by the Office of the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights. Since 2022, 122 children from 98 families have been reunited with parents or close relatives in Ukraine or third countries. 29 children have returned to Russia from Ukraine. All reunifications are verified and accompanied by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
‼️ Russia has never impeded the reunification of children with their families – and never will. 👉 This is our principled position.

🎙 Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s comment on Human Rights Day (December 10, 2025)
💬 On December 10, the international community marks #HumanRightsDay. It was on this historical day in 1948 when states came together to approve the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in an effort to strengthen respect for human dignity and reaffirm its importance. This document created a solid foundation for the present-day international framework for encouraging and defending human rights.
This year’s anniversary has special importance since it coincides with 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and World War II, as well as the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations (UN).
It was the Great Victory, which came at an unimaginable cost with all peace-loving nations coming together to fight Nazism, fascism and militarism, that defined the course of global history and created a foundation for a new architecture of international relations, while also laying the groundwork for international law, including human rights law.
Unfortunately, certain countries have been exploiting the noble ideals and spirit of the Universal Declaration in pursuit of their momentary political and economic goals these days.
Freedom of speech has been used for justifying unrelenting attempts to revise the outcomes of World War II, justify the disastrous Nazi ideology, while casting Hitler’s followers and collaborationists as heroes. They have been referring to the principle of freedom from torture for interfering in the domestic affairs of sovereign states, while appealing to the freedom from discrimination for imposing neoliberal values as the one and only pillar of the world order.
❗️ This way of exploiting human rights as a tool for pursuing vested interests is unacceptable.
We believe that we must do everything we can to counter fraudulent attempts to assert lopsided interpretations of the fundamental human rights documents.
☝️ We call for working together on the human rights agenda by strictly following existing, time-tested and universally recognised international principles and norms while taking into account the historical, cultural and religious context in any given country.
The President of Russia held a meeting at the Kremlin with chairmen of parliaments of CSTO member states
The chairmen of parliamentary chambers of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan took part in the meeting.
Next year, the Russian Federation will assume the chairmanship of the CSTO. We will certainly do everything we can to strengthen the organisation. And, as I recently told my counterparts, our work will undoubtedly continue the efforts undertaken by our Kyrgyz friends. There will be full continuity in all key areas of our cooperation, including the strengthening of our defence capability and the aligning of our military and military-technical cooperation policies.

🗓 On December 4-5, the 21st Session of the Governing Council of the Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (#APCTT) – operating under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (#ESCAP) – was held in Moscow with the support of Russia’s Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The event brought together representatives of ESCAP member states, international experts, and heads of centres of excellence in technological development. Igor Fedorov, Vice-President of the Russian House of International Scientific and Technical Cooperation (RH ISTC), was elected Chair.
On the margins of the Session, the international conference on “Technologies for the Rational Use of Natural Resources” took place. Participants discussed prospects for further strengthening international cooperation in technology transfer. A decision was made to launch an international digital platform for technology transfer in the Asia-Pacific region (APR).
ℹ️ APCTT has been operating in New Delhi since 1977 and is one of ESCAP’s regional institutions aimed at developing the scientific, technological and innovation potential of the Asia-Pacific. Since 2023, the Russian Federation has been a member of the Governing Council. Russia’s interests in the Centre are represented by the RH ISTC.
❗️ On the UN International Court of Justice’s acceptance for hearing of the matter of Ukraine’s responsibility for genocide and related crimes
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has upheld the Russian Federation’s position and accepted its counter-claims against Ukraine for hearing under the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
👉 All objections raised by Kiev regarding the alleged inadmissibility of Russia’s counter-claims have been dismissed in their entirety, and the Russian Federation’s submissions have been accepted by the Court in full.
The ICJ’s ruling, rendered on December 5, marks a logical development following Ukraine’s futile attempts to hold Russia accountable for initiating the special military operation. This litigation was instigated by the Kiev regime and its Western sponsors as far back as February 2022. At that time, Kiev, backed by 33 Western-aligned states, lodged a claim with the ICJ alleging that Russia had violated the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
On February 1, 2024, the ICJ issued a judgement that wholly rejected all of Ukraine’s accusations against Russia. The sole remaining matter before the Court was whether Ukraine itself had committed genocide.
On November 18, 2024, the Russian side submitted to the Court a substantial body of evidence, exceeding 10,000 pages, which substantiates the criminal Kiev regime’s perpetration of genocide against the Russian and Russian-speaking population of #Donbass. The evidentiary materials included documentation of over 140 incidents of deliberate targeting of civilians in Donbass, corroborated by testimonies from more than 300 witnesses and victims, as well as expert analyses and investigations.
The West-backed Ukrainian government, driven by genocidal intent, employed a broad arsenal of war crimes and other violations of international law against civilians: mass murders, torture, indiscriminate bombardments, and shelling. Across Ukraine, a policy of forcibly erasing Russian ethnic identity has been implemented — banning the Russian language and culture, persecuting the Russian-speaking Orthodox Church, while simultaneously glorifying collaborators of the Third Reich and obliterating the memory of the Victory over Nazism.
Moscow demanded that Kiev answer for these atrocities, advancing counter-claims not only concerning the Ukrainian authorities’ state-sponsored genocide but also numerous other breaches of the Convention – complicity in genocide, incitement to genocide, and failure to take measures to prevent and punish genocide.
By affirming today the legal admissibility of Russia’s claims, the ICJ has signalled its readiness to assess the full scope of crimes committed by the Kiev regime and its accomplices.
The West’s hopes of wielding “legal weaponry” against Russia have once again been dashed. On the contrary, this weapon is now turned against Kiev’s “plaintiffs.” Against this backdrop, Western support for Kiev has already begun to dwindle sharply: a third of the states previously aligned with Ukraine in this process have hastily withdrawn, evidently recognising the futility — and even the risks — of continued participation. Other Western nations should likewise cease shielding this criminal neo-Nazi regime and exerting pressure on the ICJ.
The Russian Federation, in upholding international law, maintains that the impartiality and objectivity of international judicial bodies are critical to the peaceful resolution of international disputes.
Moscow hopes that the UN International Court of Justice will continue to demonstrate balance and impartiality in its future judgments.
🇷🇺🇮🇳 Statement by President Vladimir Putin for the press following the Russia-India talks (New Delhi, December 5, 2025)
Read in full
💬 Vladimir Putin: The talks with our Indian colleagues that have just concluded, as well as our conversation yesterday evening with Prime Minister Modi in a tête-à-tête format at his home over dinner – and I want once again to thank you for this gesture of hospitality – were highly useful. They took place in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, in the spirit of the Russia-India special and privileged strategic partnership.
I would note that Mr Prime Minister and I have established close working and personal contacts. We met earlier this year in September at the SCO Summit, we regularly hold telephone conversations, and we keep the development of Russia-India cooperation in all its strategic dimensions, as well as the implementation of key bilateral projects, under our constant personal oversight.
Today, together with our delegations, we conducted an in-depth review of our multifaceted Russia-India partnership and discussed pressing global and regional issues.
In the Joint Statement adopted by Prime Minister Modi and myself, priority tasks were set for further strengthening our ties in politics and security, the economy and trade, and in the humanitarian and cultural spheres. A substantial package of intergovernmental, interagency and corporate agreements was also signed.
Many of the said documents are aimed at expanding the economic cooperation between Russia and India. This is entirely natural, given that our countries are important partners to one another in trade, investment and technology. Last year, bilateral trade increased by another 12%, reaching yet another all-time high. Different statistical sources show slightly different figures, but overall the volume stands at around USD 64-65 billion. It is expected that by the end of this year the trade turnover will remain roughly at the same level.
At the same time, it seems entirely within our reach to bring this figure to USD 100 billion. To achieve this important goal, we have agreed the Programme for the Development of Russia-India Economic Cooperation until 2030. <...>
I would also like to emphasize with satisfaction that our countries are steadily moving to national currencies in bilateral trade. Their share in commercial transactions already stands at 96%.
Our partnership in the energy sector is developing successfully. Russia is a reliable supplier of energy resources and everything necessary for the development of India’s energy sector. We are ready to continue ensuring uninterrupted fuel supplies for India’s fast-growing economy. <...>
In reviewing key global and regional issues, we confirmed the convergence of our positions. Both Russia and India conduct an independent and sovereign foreign policy.
Together with our like-minded partners in #BRICS, #SCO and across the broader Global Majority, we are advancing the formation of a more just and democratic multipolar world order and upholding the fundamental principles of international law enshrined in the UN Charter. These include the right of every state to its own path of development and the preservation of its cultural and civilisational identity, respect for sovereignty, and a balanced consideration of the interests of all members of the international community.
I would also like to note that Russia and India have traditionally maintained close cooperation in the military-technical sphere. For more than half a century, our country has assisted in equipping and modernizing the Indian Armed Forces – including air defence, aviation and the navy.
🎙 President Vladimir Putin's interview with Aaj Tak and India Today (December 4, 2025)
Read in full
❓ Question: The history of Russia-India relations spans more than seven decades. This friendship is over 70 years old. How do you assess the strength of this friendship today?
💬 Vladimir Putin: You know, the world is changing very quickly, and the speed of these changes is growing – everyone can see this clearly. The global configuration is shifting, new centres of power are emerging. In these conditions, stability between major countries becomes extremely important. It creates a solid foundation for steady development – both bilaterally and globally.
In this sense, our work together with Prime Minister Modi is of great significance, even beyond the bilateral dimension. And when it comes specifically to our countries, stability across certain areas of cooperation is critically important, because it guarantees the achievement of the goals we have set for ourselves. <...>
We have an entire roadmap for cooperation across key sectors. The most important areas are certainly those oriented towards the future – high technologies. Russia and India work together in these fields in space, in energy – including nuclear energy, as is well known from the Kudankulam NPP, one of our major joint projects – as well as in shipbuilding and aviation.
❓ Question: There has been enormous pressure on India and on Russia, especially regarding oil. India has faced strong Western pressure. How can both countries counter this sanctions policy?
💬 Vladimir Putin: Our energy cooperation with India remains unaffected by present political shifts – and even by the tragic developments in Ukraine. <...>
Trade in oil and petroleum products, and the refining of Russian oil for Indian consumers, proceeds in a completely stable and predictable manner. I know the sentiment of our Russian partners and companies – they regard their Indian counterparts as reliable and very serious people. <...>
The US still purchases nuclear fuel from us for its own nuclear power plants. That is also fuel – uranium for reactors operating in the US. If the US has the right to buy fuel from us, why should India be deprived of this right? This is a question that deserves careful consideration, and we are ready to discuss it with President Trump.
❓ Question: In your view, what would constitute a victory for Russia in the Russia-Ukraine war? What are the “red lines”?
💬 Vladimir Putin: It is not about victory, as you put it – it is about the fact that Russia seeks to protect, and will certainly protect, its interests. To protect our people who live there, to protect our traditional values, the Russian language and so on. To protect the centuries-old religious heritage of these territories.
For eight years we did not recognize the self-proclaimed republics. They declared independence, and we tried to help establish relations between the rest of Ukraine and these republics. Later, when we realized this was impossible – that they were simply being eradicated – we were forced to recognize them.
And we immediately told Ukraine, told the Ukrainian military: people do not want to live with you, they held a referendum and voted for independence – withdraw your forces from there, and there will be no military action. No, they preferred to fight it out.
Now they have fought themselves into the situation we see today. And essentially it all comes down to the following: 👉 either we liberate these territories by military means, or Ukrainian troops eventually withdraw and stop killing people there. <...>
As I have already said, the most important thing for them [the Kiev regime] – is to realize that the best way to resolve issues is to reach an agreement by peaceful means on precisely what we sought to negotiate with them back in 2022.
The decision on a new package of military assistance to the Kiev regime was made by the Australian government amid a raging corruption scandal in Ukraine, which revealed that at least US$100 million had been stolen by Zelensky’s close associates.
For Australian taxpayers it will be the waste of another AUD 95 million.
The money will be used to prop up the neo-Nazi regime, which, since the anti-constitutional armed coup d’etat in Kiev in 2014, has been destroying everything Russian be it the language, Orthodox religion and Church or the Russian identity itself. The West calls it “democracy”.
Today’s announcement by official Canberra was also made against the backdrop of efforts of Russia and the current US Administration aimed at achieving a long-term peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
Pumping the Kiev regime with money and weapons undermines and delays the prospects for sustainable peace, which is impossible without demilitarisation and denazification of Ukraine.
