Chile’s hydrogen breakthrough: World’s first solar powered desert refinery fuels $24 billion industry
Chile has inaugurated the world’s first solar-to-hydrogen refinery in the Atacama Desert through the H2Atacama Project, marking a milestone in clean energy. Unlike conventional electrolysis, the plant uses thermocatalytic solar reactors—developed via a Chilean-German partnership—that draw water vapour from the air and split it into hydrogen using concentrated sunlight.
The system is off-grid, modular, and water-independent, currently producing 120 kg of hydrogen daily, with plans to scale up tenfold. Its design enables deployment in remote, water-scarce regions such as deserts, mining sites, or islands.
The hydrogen market heads toward a $500 billion valuation by 2050, Chile’s breakthrough provides a scalable model for sustainable energy in extreme environments.

China on track to deploy 380 GW of PV in 2025
China is set to break new ground in its energy transition, with 2025 renewable capacity additions projected to exceed 500 GW, driven by surging solar and wind deployment, according to a new report from the State Grid Energy Research Institute.
China’s total installed power generation capacity is expected to reach 3.99 TW by the end of 2025, up 19.2% from a year earlier, with wind and solar accounting for nearly half of the total, the State Grid Energy Research Institute (SGERI) said in its newly released China Power Supply and Demand Analysis Report (2025).
The report said that wind and solar will contribute 500 GW of new capacity in 2025, including 140 GW from wind, a 77.1% year-on-year increase, and 380 GW from solar, up 35.5%. This marks the first time renewable additions will surpass 500 GW per year in China.
By the end of May 2025, China had added 197.85 GW of solar capacity and 46.28 GW of wind for the year, representing year-on-year growth of 150% and 134%, respectively. Cumulative solar and wind capacity reached 1.684 TW, comprising 45.8% of the country’s total generation capacity.

The European solar sector has issued new recommendations to help EU policymakers address cybersecurity risks in solar PV systems, which are increasingly digitalised and internet-connected.
A report by DNV, commissioned by SolarPower Europe, proposes two main solutions to reduce cybersecurity risk:
1) Mandate industry-specific cybersecurity controls for remote-controlled solar PV systems.
2) Ensure control over solar systems remains within the EU or trusted jurisdictions with security standards equivalent to the EU, following a model similar to GDPR.
The report suggests using the EU NCCS or a new fast-track process to implement this, requiring high-risk entities to develop and have their cybersecurity measures approved by authorities.
SolarPower Europe’s CEO, Walburga Hemetsberger, highlighted that while digitalisation offers major cost-saving opportunities, it also brings new cybersecurity challenges that the sector is proactively addressing.

According to GWEC report published TODAY, A historic 117GW of new wind energy capacity was added globally in 2024 (109GW onshore, 8GW offshore), bringing total global wind capacity to 1,136GW across 55 countries.
Top Markets: The bulk of new installations came from China, followed by the USA, Germany, India, and Brazil, which now replaces Spain in the top five for total installed capacity.
Regional Trends: While Africa & Middle East saw explosive growth (+107% YoY, driven by Egypt and Saudi Arabia), North America, LATAM, and Europe experienced a decline compared to 2023.
Future Growth: The report forecasts 981GW of new capacity by 2030, with annual records expected each year—culminating in 194GW in 2030.
Policy Concerns: GWEC warns of rising policy instability, permitting delays, and tariff wars, urging governments to maintain stable frameworks and multilateral cooperation to sustain investment and supply chains.

Record Broken Again! Mingyang Unveils 50MW Floating Wind Turbine at CWP2025!
Ming Yang Smart Energy stunned the industry today, launching the world's first 50MW wind turbine at the CWP 2025.
This colossal machine achieves its record capacity via a "twin-head" design, using two 25MW main engines supported by a V-shaped tower. Critically, it is a floating unit designed for deep offshore waters, featuring twin 290m rotors.
Given Ming Yang Smart Energy recent announcement to build a manufacturing base in Scotland, you have to wonder—is this revolutionary 50MW floating giant destined for Scottish waters?

Misleading myths about solar
Myth No. 02: Solar and wind power are expensive
Critics in the UK media and political circles, particularly the right-wing Reform UK party, argue that solar power is expensive and dependent on government subsidies. They claim renewables increase costs for consumers, with calls even for new taxes on solar development.
However, evidence strongly contradicts these claims. The IEA describes solar as the “cheapest electricity in history,” noting it is now cheaper to build solar than new fossil fuel plants almost everywhere globally. Data from the IRENA shows the levelised cost of utility-scale solar fell by 90% between 2010 and 2023. By 2024, the global average cost of solar PV electricity was 41% lower than the cheapest new fossil fuel power plants.

Misleading myths about solar ☀
Myth No. 01: Solar power is an ‘unreliable source of energy’
Despite this negative messaging from different groups, solarpower is a hugely successful technology that is widely expected to dominate the
global electricity system in the coming years.
Global solar capacity is already at least 40-times largerthan it was in 2010. The International Energy Agency (IEA) expects it to be the
world's largest power source by 2033, as the chart below shows.

First floater launched for pilot project in France
Ocean Winds has launched the first floating platform for its 30MW EFGL pilot offshore wind project in Marseille, France. Developed with Banque des Territoires, the project uses third-generation WindFloat technology by Principle Power and will feature three 10MW Vestas V164 turbines. The first 2000-tonne floater has been towed to Port-la-Nouvelle for turbine integration, with the other two floaters to follow in May. Offshore installation is set to begin in June off the coast of Leucate and Barcarès.

Are we, as humans, still more intelligent and emotionally aware than machines?
#AI is now being used to control us tightly and to influence — if not manipulate — public opinion. The moment you try to speak about a specific topic, your account may be silenced or blocked.
While many of us are striving to build a brighter, greener, and more #sustainable future for the next generations, we are witnessing serious and widespread violations of basic #human #rights. DO YOU KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT?
If this trend continues, I have no doubt: we, as humans, will gradually lose our emotions, our autonomy, and eventually be fully controlled — even if we keep pretending otherwise.
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN (You name it...) MUST STOP — not tomorrow, not today, but yesterday. DO YOU KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT?
A single person can’t do it alone. But everyone who still has a moral compass must take part.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT??? If not, I won’t be surprised......
