The fall of BigFat and Retro’s exit scam.
When BigFat’s Telegram channels got banned, it was the first real shakeup their community had faced in years. They tried to recover—moving to a forum, keeping their products running—but the heart of their community took a massive hit. Then came the final blow: Retro, the main developer, exit scammed @CoinEscrowBOT, taking with him the trust and funds of countless users.
Say what you will, but BigFat had a legacy. I’ve spoken with Jay a few times, and I have nothing but respect for what he built. But the reality is, one bad move can bring down an entire empire.
What Went Wrong & What We Learned
In my opinion, the biggest mistake wasn’t the scam itself—it was the lack of backups. No control to servers, no control over wallets, no source code in safe hands. Jay put everything into one person’s hands, and when Retro pulled the plug, it was game over.
