It's a totally different setup, 3200 nodes compared to 500 odd .The aim is to become more and more decentralized with Multiversx foundation nodes continuing to be handed to the community.

The number is actually 10, which will hopefully improve in time

The big staking providers make up the other 9. Users delegate to them in a decentralized manner. If more support was given to smaller providers then this number would increase.

Well, if you're in the UK, this changes everything.
Purchasing is not available anymore in xPortal, nor staking, unfortunately:

You may consider using a CEX then and withdraw from there to a MultiversX wallet that you can use via the MultiversX Wallet (not xPortal).

Checked on Revolut and EGLD is not among the assets supported for crypto transfers, only buy & sell are supported.

I guess you would have 2 options:

- sell it for fiat on Revolut and use the Revolut card to buy EGLD directly via xPortal (or top-up your xPortal card if you have any and use it to buy EGLD)
- switch to another crypto asset that Revolut offers withdrawal support for, is also on one of the 10 chains supported by xPortal and has support for cross-chain swap to EGLD in xPortal. Withdraw it to your xPortal address of the proper chain and then swap it in xPortal to EGLD
