Bronze has traditionally played an essential role in Keralese households. Used to make anything from everyday kitchenware to ceremonial vessels and wick lamps, homes across the state were full of this metal.

Bronze was the primary material used to produce pooja, or worship, articles. The Valkannadi, a mirror representing Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity; the kindi, a water container with a spouting nozzle; uruli, a broad and shallow cooking vessel; and the beautifully crafted thattu, plates, are all used for ceremonial purposes.

​​R B Ferguson Club has been one of the oldest football club in Kerala and one of the oldest clubs in India. Established on 20 February 1899 in Thrissur, it was also the oldest football club in the southern part of India. The club was famed and played a huge role in promoting football in Kerala during the early 1900s.

The club was named after the Kochi Police superintendent R B Ferguson.The club was established near St. Antony's Forane Church in Ollur. Later on, it was renamed and run as Young Men's Football Club

​​Bulls all over the world are famed for their tough demeanor. To tame them and enjoy their company is not every one's cup of tea. But the farmers at Chithali think otherwise...a fact which one could get convinced of during the annual bull race.

The picture is taken from the annual bull race held at the village of Chithali in Palakkad district of Kerala. Bulls in pairs along with a runner form a team and they run to clock maximum speed to beat the rest of the competing teams. The bulls and the runners train intensively prior to the race. The race is usually held in water filled paddy fields, after the harvest season.

​​Punnamada Lake

Punnamada Lake is known to be one of the most beautiful lakes in Kerala, expanding in a number of districts of the state. Due to the same reason, it has got various names, for example, Punnamada Lake in Kuttanad and Kochi Lake in Kochi. It is a part of Vembanad Lake. As the lake surrounds the 3 main islands of Kerala, Pathiramanal, Perumbalam, and Pallippuram, it has become famous for bird watching.

Punnamada Lake becomes the Nehru Trophy Boat Race venue at the Onam festival when there is a massive footfall of spectators. Ramacham (Vettiver) is widely used in Kerala in different forms. Botanically Ramacham is Vettiveria zezanoides. The grass and its roots are used widely for medicinal purposes. Ramacham vishari (literally fan made of Vettiver) and sleeping mats made of Ramacham and thailam or perfume extracted from its roots are a range of products used in Kerala since ancient times during the hot summer. Even though their purposes are 'better' served today by the modern electrical amenities, they still are luxurious ethnic items seen in some Kerala homes. Usually water is sprinkled on the Ramacha vishari so that it gives cool perfumed breeze. Ramacham mats used as blinds would also be sprinkled with water to keep the rooms cool during hot summer days.

​​Nyayamakad Waterfalls

At a distance of 10 km from Munnar, Nyayamakad Waterfalls is a picturesque waterfall on Munnar - Udamalpet road close to the entrance of Eravikulam National Park. It is one of the highest cascading waterfalls in Kerala, and among the must-visit places of sightseeing in Munnar.

The water here drops from a height of more than 1500 meters cascading through rocks over several steps. The water is collected into a big pool at the bottom which is great place to spend some time during Munnar trip. This waterfall Is close to the Rajamalai entrance and can be visited along with Rajamalai / Eravikulam Park. It needs about 10 minutes walk from the main road.

Trekking is a popular activity here. One can enjoy the marvelous views of surrounding valleys of Western Ghats including Anamudi and other peaks. Trekking to some of the upper levels of the falls is possible through rock climbing though it's little risky in Monsoons

These traditional straw mats are one of the oldest handwoven products in Kerala. They are even mentioned in the Atharva Veda, one of the four philosophical treaties on ancient India which date back to 3500-1800 BC. Pazhassi tomb in Kalpetta in Wayanad district is a memorial to Pazhassi Raja - 'the Lion of Kerala’. The tomb was constructed in the place where his body was cremated, and is situated on the banks of Kabani river in Mananthavady. In March 1996, this tomb was converted to museum and today the museum is a centre in the state which attracts historians, researchers and students. The museum also contains Pazhassi Raja's sword and other information about the cultural history of Kerala.
