“Equality (outside mathematics) is a purely social conception. It applies to man as a political and economic animal. It has no place in the world of the mind. Beauty is not democratic—she reveals herself more to the few than to the many, more to the persistent and disciplined seekers than to the careless. Virtue is not democratic—she is achieved by those who pursue her more hotly than most men. Truth is not democratic—she demands special talents and special industry in those to whom she gives her favors. Political democracy is doomed if it tries to extend its demand for equality into these higher spheres. Ethical, intellectual, or aesthetic democracy is death.”
~C.S. Lewis
Important Homesteading Skills (that modern man doesn't seem to have, but can and should.)
1. cooking from scratch
2. gardening
3. innovating
The next time you think you need something, shop your house and see what you can make from items you already own. The next time something breaks, fix it yourself.
4. caring for livestock
Keeping a watchful eye on animals who will not tell you if they're sick or injured is a skill. Likewise, figuring out treatments for sick animals.
5. helpfulness
Everyone feels too busy to help someone else. But often you'll need to be a helper to your neighbors without much notice. Start looking outside of yourself to help others now.
6. cheerfulness
Homesteading can be very difficult. Being cheerful makes everyone's life nicer.
7. Patience
Things take twice as long.
8. Fortitude
Things are usually harder than you expect. Don't give up.
9. Resilience
Sometimes, no matter what you do, it doesn't work out.
10. Hopefulness
Despairing seems a modern outlook.

"The flowers that sleep by night, opened their gentle eyes and turned them to the day. The light, creation's mind, was everywhere, and all things owned its power."
Charles Dickens
Something about music captivates that which is human in us, even among the youngest.

It is vain to seek the company of wicked men in the hope of doing them good; we are far more likely to be corrupted by them. It is not enough to forsake the foolish, we must join those that walk in wisdom.

Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Matthew 6:25
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.”
