Following up on Tonnel’s take about TON Foundation burning through trusted funds inefficiently—here’s our two cents from the Gem team, the first L2 solution for TON.

We haven’t received a single dollar from TON Foundation.
Not for development.
Not for marketing.
Not for infrastructure.

Yet for a whole year, we’ve been grinding, building a product that already boasts tens of thousands of users in Testnet, hundreds of thousands of transactions, millions of generated blocks, a fully working EVM, and the most feature-packed bot—@gembot. And you know what’s funny? Even the username for the bot wasn’t given to us by TON Foundation—it was gifted by a very special supporter from the community.

On top of that, we’ve been keeping over $1M in liquidity on Ston.fi for almost a year now, actively supporting USDT’s growth in TON.

The Gem project plans to burn up to 99% of its initial supply on the TON blockchain by the end of 2025

This move will leave only 10 billion $GEM in circulation from the original 1 trillion.

These dramatic changes have been made possible thanks to Gem Chain’s unique technology, which supports lightning-fast, fee-free transfers of your favorite TON tokens without leaving Telegram, while keeping resource consumption low.
