Bayern Munich’s Club World Cup match against Flamengo was a gruelling fight. In the heat, against a team that would not stop running and pushing and giving the Bavarians scares, Bayern managed to find a way to win- but only through a lot of effort.Things will not get any easier, either. Bayern will face Paris Saint Germain, who unfortunately won their first Champions League title this past season, in the quarterfinals of the competition. Of course, head coach Vincent Kompany was asked to give his thoughts on the upcoming match in the post Flamengo match press conference: “We’ll see what we need for that game. The main thing now is we have to rest,” Kompany emphasized, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “We have to rebuild the energy. Two top sides playing each other on the big stage. We’ll be ready for that.”The last time the two sides met was in November as, Bayern came out on top in a 1-0 win in the Champions League. Will Bayern be able to repeat the over seven months later? That is the big question.

Now that time is over, and I haven’t really realized it yet. I wish Bayern all the best; they deserve it.” Sané continued, wishing his now former club good luck: “I wish Bayern all the best, for this tournament and also for the future. They built something good this season. I hope they will keep working on it and be successful in the future.”While Bayern and Sané might not have had the best of times together, it was certainly a memorable era. Fans, too, will wish Sané the best of luck in his time at Galatasaray.

Lothar Matthäus did not take kindly to criticism from Bayern Munich legend Uli Hoeneß. “First of all, I have to say that I’m used to Uli Hoeneß’ insults and I don’t take them seriously anymore. He’s been doing that for 20, 25 years. I don’t let it get to me; that makes you thick-skinned. Uli Hoeneß still lives in his own world and still hasn’t understood that not only football, but also the business has evolved. I’m aware of what’s going on in the market. I mentioned €80-100m as a possible price [for Woltemade], but Uli Hoeneß apparently didn’t read it up properly again,” Matthäus told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “He’s only interested in attacking other people to distract from his own mistakes. I know the market, both domestically and internationally. And I still believe this assessment is correct. Gittens cost around €60 million and isn’t even an international player, and he’s also had a worse season [than Woltemade]. I predicted for Florian Wirtz many months ago that the total package would amount to €250m – and that’s what happened. These simply are the numbers nowadays. “At FC Bayern, things are only seen from one side. When I think of Jamal Musiala: Bayern would want much more for him than, for example, Wirtz cost. Bayern would want €180m. So why can’t Wirtz cost €150m or Woltemade €80-100m? Uli Hoeneß lives in his own world. He may no longer be up to date with the transfer market. Bayern Munich wants a player who now has that market. “As a reminder: FC Bayern already spent €80m on Lucas Hernández in 2019. Hoeneß should investigate internally: Why didn’t FC Bayern and their scouts discover Woltemade earlier, why did they only become aware of him now? With Woltemade, the VfB management did a much better job. Instead, FC Bayern brought in João Palhinha for €50m, who has so far only been a backup player, barely playing even in unimportant games. These are the problems Hoeneß should be addressing.”When asked if he would take legal action against Uli Hoeneß, Matthäus said he would decline. “That doesn’t do me any good, it doesn’t do FC Bayern any good, and it would produce more headlines,” Matthäus said. Of course, there was a response from Bayern Munich and we can add Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer to the list of folks who are sick of Matthäus and other pundits taking aim at Bayern Munich. “[Matthäus] standing on the sidelines, not taking responsibility, and shouting something out every now and then—that’s one thing. Uli Hoeneß, on the other hand, is still in the middle of the pitch, steering the fortunes of FC Bayern as a member of our supervisory board —for one of the absolute top clubs in Europe. Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich and FC Augsburg coach Sandro Wagner were once teammates in Bavaria and the former is not shocked by the latter’s rapid rise through Germany’s coaching ranks. Wagner has left his position as an assistant coach on the staff of German national team boss Julian Nagelsmann in favor of the head coach position at FC Augsburg. “It didn’t really surprise me. I think it was a long process for him to finally come to this decision. Sandro is ambitious and hungry, wants to work as head coach himself, and that’s legitimate. His departure is obviously a loss for us. He knows how the players work, how the dressing room works, he’s a brutal energy generator, and has always given his all,” Kimmich told kicker’s Frank Linkesch (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). Kimmich and Wagner will now be adversaries as Augsburg will be aiming to improve its mid-level showing in the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich advanced to the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup after a sensational 4-2 win against Flamengo. Neuer recorded a fantastic save in the 15th minute as Bayern got into the game, but unfortunately, conceded twice, including a Jorginho penalty, to miss out on a clean sheet.Speaking about the game, Neuer said: “Playing against a Brazilian team is fun; they also wanted the ball. You always have to be careful against teams like that. They invested a lot going forward. We tried to keep our style of play and create chances. We had that killer instinct today, which we lacked a bit against Benfica. Harry Kane scored two goals for Bayern Munich in the 4-2 win over Flamengo. He was extremely efficient with his chances. His two goals came from only two shots. He also only had one touch in the box, which led to the second goal — as his first goal came from outside the box.Although proud of his goals, Kane spoke to the media after the match and talked about the other aspects of his game and had this to say “I know a lot of my game is scoring goals. I’ve been doing that my whole career. But what some of the German fans and Bayern fans are realizing is that I’ll do anything for the team to help us win. Whether it’s running or sprinting back to help the team, I’ll do that. Goals is obviously what I love to do, but I love winning more than anything, and I’ll do everything to help us win.”His biggest effort — though ultimately ineffective and leading to yellow card — came in the 83rd minute when he ran with a Flamengo player for 60 yards and then made a daring tackle. His willingness to put his body on the line and not just wait for the ball to come back to Bayern shows his teammates, coaches, and fans that he is all in. This will be greatly needed in Bayern’s next match against PSG and hopefully further opponents in the competition.

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany loves the energy a crowd can bring to an arena and — needless to say — the former Manchester City defender was thrilled to be part of the electric atmosphere in Hard Rock Stadium as his team took down Flamengo 4-2 in a rough-and-tumble match. “The atmosphere was so special and electric. The intensity of the game was ferocious. We grew into the game bit by bit. I thought it was a great game for the fans. We’re happy to be in the next round,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).Kompany had to be pleased by how his team responded in the match as well. The Bavarians were tested mightily, but showed great resolve. Now, though, the stakes will be much higher for Bayern Munich as a date with Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup quarterfinals awaits. Oktoberfest and Bayern Munich — two iconic institutions that define Bavarian culture. It appears that the tradition of a Bayern Wiesn kit is in the works for this September’s Oktoberfest festivities. As was the case last season — where they took the third kit and made it a different color and added a new Oktoberfest logo — this season’s Wiesn kit takes pieces from past kits (and possibly this season’s third kit) to make a pretty good looking shirt.
