Reported Speech
💡 برای نقل قول یک جمله، سؤال و یا گفته‌ها از نقل قول غیر مستقیم reported speech استفاده میشود، که با نقل قول مستقیم (همراه با علامت کوتیشن) تفاوت دارد.
👨🏫 وقتی بخواهیم از نقل قول غیر مستقیم برای اتفاقی در گذشته استفاده کنیم، وقتی و زمان فعل اصلی حال کامل (present perfect) باشد، فعل اصلی به گذشتهی کامل (past perfect) تبديل میشود.
مثال:
'I have met him before'
برای نقل قول این جمله، فقط حالت اول صحیح است:
✅ I was sure that I had met him before.
❌ I was sure that I met him before.
'The village has not changed much.'
برای نقل قول این جمله، فقط حالت اول صحیح است:
✅ I found that the village had not changed much.
❌ I found that the village did not change much.
👨🏫 اما وقتی زمان فعل اصلی گذشتهی ساده باشد (simple past)، در حالت نقل قول می‌تواند به همان شکل باقی بماند و یا به گذشتهی کامل (past perfect) تبدیل شود.
مثال:
'200 people drowned in the recent floods.'
برای نقل قول این جمله، هر دو حالت زیر صحیح است:
✅ Police said that 200 people had drowned in the recent floods.
✅ Police said that 200 people drowned in the recent floods.
'I stole the watch.'
برای نقل قول این جمله، هر دو حالت زیر صحیح است:
✅ She admitted that she had stolen the watch.
✅ She admitted that she stole the watch.

⭕️تفاوت دو کلمه ی "Further" و "Farther" :
❇️هر دوی این کلمات هم قید هستند و هم صفت
✅به معنی دورتر یا بیشتر
✍️ کلمه "farther" برای فاصله‌های فیزیکی استفاده میشود.
▶️ The fog is thick, I can't see farther than about ten meters.
مه غلیظه، نمیتونم ده متر جلوتر رو ببینم.
▶️ The cafe is farther away than we had thought.
کافه دورتر از اونی هست که فکر می‌کردیم.
▶️ How much farther is it to the airport.
فرودگاه چقدر جلوتره (چقدر دورتره)؟
✍️ کلمه "further" برای فاصله‌های غیرفیزیکی و فاصله‌های مجازی استفاده میشود.
▶️ Every day she sinks further and further into depression.
او هر روز بیشتر و بیشتر افسرده تر میشود.

🔘 Instadad
What does instadad mean?
◻️A man who marries a person with kids
An Instadad is a man who marries a person with one or more kids. The man is also commonly referred to as a stepdad.
An instadad often does not have any kids of his own before he weds his bride. But after the marriage he instantly becomes a dad by inheriting whatever churrin belong to his SO. Of course, some instadads already have kids before inheriting more children, like Mike Brady from "The Brady Bunch," a popular example of an instadad. He became a dad to Carol's three daughters when he married her.

He really wants to marry Amanda but is worried about his role as an instadad.
He's great with kids, he shouldn't worry at all!

✳️با روش substitution drill میتوانید بوسیله هر قالب صد ها جمله بسازید.
♻️فرق arrive at و arrive in
❇️ اگر مقصد را به شکل یک نقطه (یا مکان) در نظر بگیرید، باید از حرف اضافه at استفاده کنید .
❇️اگر مقصد را به شکل یک ناحیه ببینید، باید از حرف اضافه in استفاده کنید.
✅- اگر مقصد یک شهر کوچک، یک ساختمان و یا بخشی از یک ساختمان است، از حرف اضافه at استفاده کنید. مثلاً:
1️⃣چه زمانی به اداره پست می رسی.
1️⃣When do you arrive at the post office.
2️⃣I had already gone before he arrived at the station.
✅اگر مقصد یک شهر بزرگ، کشور، قاره یا هر جای بزرگ تری هست، ازحرف اضافه in استفاده کنید. مثلاً:
3️⃣من ساعت ۵ به تهران خواهم رسید.
3️⃣I will arrive in Tehran at five.
نکته:این سوال مطرح می شود که آیا arrive to اشتباه است؟ خوب، پاسخ هم بله هست و هم نه! اگر بعد از arrive to یک مکان بکار ببرید اشتباه است. یعنی arrive to a place نداریم! اما بعد از arrive to می توانید یک فعل استفاده کنید. یعنی مثلاً arrive to eat کاملا درست است.
4️⃣He arrived to kill the enemy.
🧑🏻🏫 یکی از ساختارهای قشنگی که در رایتینگ یا حتی اسپیکینگ میشه استفاده کرد بصورت زیر هست:
"just as..., so"
این ساختار برای بیان تشابه یا ارتباط بین دو اتفاق یا عمل استفاده میشه. یعنی یک عمل یا اتفاق توسط یک مورد دیگه رخ میده یا تحت تأثیر اون قرار میگیره. .
مثال:
1️⃣ Just as the sun sets, so does our energy level decrease.
همان‌طور که خورشید غروب میکند، انرژی ما هم کاهش می‌یابد.
2️⃣ Just as exercise benefits our physical health, so does reading benefit our mental health.
همان‌طور که ورزش به سلامت جسمی ما کمک میکند، مطالعه به سلامت ذهنی ما کمک میکند.
3️⃣ Just as a good night's sleep helps us perform better, so does a healthy breakfast.
همان‌طور که خواب شب مناسب به ما کمک میکند عملکرد بهتری داشته باشیم، صبحانه سالم هم به ما کمک میکند عملکرد بهتری داشته باشیم (😐)
4️⃣ Just as a positive attitude can improve our mood, so can spending time with loved ones.
5️⃣ Just as a well-written essay requires research and planning, so does a successful business strategy.

⚜"Get" is a very common verb in English, but it is not always appropriate for talking about
changes.
🔆Note also alternatives to get which can improve your style.
📌Go, not get
🔘Go is used for changes in people's personality, appearance and physical abilities:
~ People go mad/bald/grey/blind/deaf.
🔘Go is often used for sudden, usually negative, changes:
~Suddenly the sky went very dark and it started to rain.
🔘Go can also be used for slower colour changes:
~The pages of the book had gone yellow over the years.
📌Turn, not get
▫️Turn often collocates with colours:
~When the tomatoes turn red, the farmers pick them and sell them.
~The news gave his mother such a shock that her hair turned white overnight.
⏺Get and become
🔘Get and become can often be used with the same collocations, but become is more formal and is therefore more appropriate in essays:
~She gave up smoking when she became pregnant.
~I would like to become involved in raising money for charity.
▪️The same is true for collocations with adjectives such as angry, bored, excited, depressed upset, impatient, violent:
~He became depressed after his wife's death.
🔹Become, not get, is used with the following: extinct, (unpopular, homeless, famous. ~Our local baker's has become famous for its apple tarts.
☑️Alternatives to get and become
~She fell ill and was taken to hospital.
~Everyone fell silent when they heard the shocking news.
~As my father grew older, he spent less time working.
~The noise grew louder and soon we realised it was a plane approaching.
🚫Overusing and misusing get
Here are some sentences from students' essays where get is wrongly used.
