Cross Platform News Updates

Key Takeaways from Jared Tate’s Video (the ~11‑minute explanation posted March 31, 2026, responding to Google’s quantum paper)

Jared Tate, founder of DigiByte, responds to Google’s March 2026 research paper showing that AI‑accelerated quantum computing may be able to break elliptic‑curve cryptography as early as 2029, far sooner than most experts expected. He calls it the most impactful paper in crypto in 17 years and warns that every major blockchain, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, will need upgrades.

DigiByte’s Current Advantages Compared to Bitcoin and Ethereum

DigiByte’s 15‑second blocks combined with the Dandelion privacy protocol mean that public keys are exposed in the mempool for only about 15 to 60 seconds. Bitcoin’s 10‑minute blocks allow low‑fee transactions to sit exposed for an hour or more. Ethereum is in the worst position because its account‑based model permanently exposes every wallet’s public key. Jared explains two types of quantum attacks: “at‑rest” attacks on old exposed keys (such as early Bitcoin UTXOs) and “at‑spend” attacks that occur when a transaction is broadcast and the public key becomes visible. DigiByte is already significantly more resistant than Bitcoin or Ethereum, though not yet fully quantum‑safe.

The Proposed Fix: P2MR (Pay‑to‑Merkle‑Root) via BIP 360

The core idea is to remove the public key from the on‑chain spend path entirely. Instead of revealing the full public key when spending, the script commits only to a Merkle root of the public key. This means no public key is ever exposed on‑chain again for new wallets and transactions after activation. It eliminates both at‑spend and future at‑rest quantum risks without switching to unproven post‑quantum signature schemes, which Jared warns may contain hidden vulnerabilities. BIP 360 recently reached final‑draft status as a clean, Bitcoin‑proposed standard that DigiByte can adopt quickly through a soft fork.

Integration with DigiDollar and the v9.26 Soft Fork

The current DigiDollar design has a long‑term quantum exposure problem because its time‑lock vault mechanism reveals the public key for coins locked over long periods. The solution is to bundle P2MR quantum hardening directly into the DigiDollar soft fork. The v9.26 release series is already in late‑stage testing on testnet using the same proven BIP9 miner‑signaling process DigiByte used for Taproot and other upgrades. One network‑wide soft fork accomplishes two goals at once: it activates DigiDollar, the decentralized UTXO‑based stablecoin with oracle‑driven minting and redeeming, and it makes all future DigiByte transactions quantum‑hardened so that new wallets never expose public keys.

What This Means for the 9.26 and DigiDollar Activation Timeline

The DigiDollar soft fork is already being tested extensively on testnet with the v9.26 release candidates, and all known DigiDollar bugs have been fixed as of RC26. Jared says the DigiDollar launch may be delayed by one to two months to properly integrate and test P2MR, but he believes the delay is worth it for long‑term security. Once activated on mainnet, DigiByte becomes one of the first major blockchains to achieve full quantum resistance in this elegant way, leapfrogging Bitcoin and others who are still debating post‑quantum signature schemes. Existing holders are unaffected; only new spends after activation use the hardened script. Jared calls the situation a blessing in disguise that allows DigiByte to stay ahead of the curve, just as it has with previous forward‑looking upgrades.

He adds that he is already running AI agents to verify details and plans to release follow‑up videos with deeper technical explanations. In short, the quantum threat is real and accelerating, but DigiByte’s fast blocks, Dandelion privacy, and the upcoming P2MR‑enhanced DigiDollar soft fork position it to turn the challenge into a major competitive advantage. More updates from Jared are expected as the plan continues to develop.

I directed them to Gitter.

rc26 doesn’t include getting testnet DGB in these release notes. This screenshot is from rc3 are the steps still the same? Should these steps be included in the release notes.

DigiByte 24-Hour X News Roll-Up: RC27 Launch Imminent + AI & Quantum Threats Spotlight $DGB’s Zero-Dependency Edge + Arizona Bill Live Coverage
(as of March 31, 2026 – posts from @DigiByteCoin, @DGBDevs & @jaredctate)

DigiDollar RC27 launch imminent (major milestone this week):
@DGBDevs and @DigiByteCoin announced RC27 dropping this week with testnet reset to testnet20, MuSig2 migration reducing oracle signatures by 92 percent for massive efficiency gains, and 6-of-11 oracle consensus for stronger decentralization and fault tolerance. This pushes the world’s first UTXO-based, time-locked, over-collateralized stablecoin closer to production readiness on the DigiByte blockchain.

Security & AI acceleration dominate the feed:
Jared Tate and the team are sounding the alarm on three major incidents in the last 24 hours alone: Axios npm supply-chain malware (300M+ weekly downloads compromised via poisoned package), Claude AI code leak, and Google’s new paper detailing practical mempool-based quantum attacks on Bitcoin. Tate notes “AI is moving exponentially” and accelerating both threats and potential fixes.

@DGBDevs doubles down on DigiByte’s built-in advantages:
Zero vendor dependencies (MIT C++ core, 12 years public code) vs. middleware supply-chain disasters like the LiteLLM incident. Smooth ~1% monthly emission schedule vs. Bitcoin’s brutal 50% halving shocks — giving miners predictable ROI and consistent security.

Arizona legislative spotlight:
@DigiByteCoin shared live House Republican Caucus coverage of SB 1649 with clear $DGB involvement.

Ongoing ecosystem promo:
Nodes page push, continued DigiDollar highlights, and community affirmations that “the best place to build on is DigiByte.”

Bottom line: The last 24 hours on these accounts focused on the major RC27 technical leap for DigiDollar alongside real-time threats in the broader crypto/AI landscape while reinforcing why DigiByte’s long-term design (decentralized, dependency-free, predictable) stands out as a safer, more resilient foundation. High activity, high relevance.

DigiDollar Oracle just leveled up with MuSig2.

Swarm now implementing BIP-327 MuSig2: aggregate signatures shrink oracle data from ~600 bytes → ~90 bytes per block.

More oracles = more decentralized price feed. Existing operators keep their keys. Tests already underway.

The future of stablecoins is being coded by AI – right now.

Original post (29 Mar 2026 20:01 UTC):
https://x.com/digibytecoin/status/2038345929494011913

DigiSwarm proves AI + open source + crypto = unstoppable velocity.

OSS devs: jump in the Gitter and watch (or contribute).
Crypto natives: $DGB just got way more antifragile.
Everyone else: this is how the next decade of tech actually gets built.

🐝 Buzz on!

Let's use seeder nodes as an example: Hard coded in 8.22+ exist a number of seeder nodes. These are lightweight network crawlers running on VPS primarily that have fixed IPs that the corewallet will immediately connect to in order to quickly find valid peers. If they didn't exist, the network would still function, but you might be lonely in the dark for a bit.

The commitment part is because if too many oracles go offline, we no longer have DGB price consensus and DigiDollar transactions can’t be done.
