☠️ How Koreans "hacked" Drift Protocol for $285 000 000
North Korean hackers spent six months impersonating themselves as "quantum trading fund" employees, met with the Drift team at conferences, communicated on Telegram, and even invested $1 million of their own money to gain trust.
When relations became "working," they sent a repository with a file that exploited a vulnerability in Visual Studio Code and Cursor — it was enough to simply open it.
After this, the hackers automatically deleted correspondence and traces of the attack, and about $285 million disappeared from the protocol — the main weapon turned out to be not an exploit, but six months of patience and social engineering.

☠️ A married couple from the Irkutsk region lost about 1,600,000 rubles after believing in "profitable investments" in crypto and transferring money to fraudsters.
Initially, they invested small amounts, but later took out a loan for 1,000,000 rubles and credit cards, and when they tried to withdraw the money, they were asked for another "insurance" of a million.
The scheme turned out to be classic: a fake curator, a bogus investment account, and constant requests to transfer even more money.

🍿 ZachXBT harshly criticized Circle, stating that the company has been failing its own "compliance" for years — only since 2022, there have been at least 15 cases with losses exceeding $420 million, where Circle could have frozen stolen USDC, but reacted too late or did nothing at all.
The main example is the recent hack of Drift Protocol: the hacker calmly withdrew $230 million in USDC via Circle's bridge over six hours, while the company took no action.
ZachXBT also recalled similar delays after the Nomad Bridge and Mango Markets hacks, noting that even Tether usually reacts faster in such situations.

🪙 Bitcoin has stopped simply reacting to Fed decisions and is increasingly starting to price in future policy changes in advance.
After the launch of Bitcoin ETFs in 2024, the market is increasingly driven by institutional investors who think 6–12 months ahead, which is why Bitcoin is becoming more an indicator of the future cycle than a reaction to already published news.
According to Binance research, it was after the arrival of ETFs and large funds that the correlation changed: previously Bitcoin followed central bank policy easing, but now it often moves even before the Fed announces anything.
