Chesea Women have signed 19-year-old midfielder Giulia Dragoni from Barcelona on a four-year contract.
The Italy international is viewed as one of the best midfielders in world football, and Chelsea value her versatility, including the ability to get further forwards.🔵
🗣️ Dragoni: "I still can’t believe I have signed for Chelsea! When I was a child, not even in my biggest dreams did I think I would sign for Chelsea. It’s unbelievable. I’m really excited.
"I spoke with Sonia and she introduced me to the project here and showed me the possibilities. We all know Chelsea is one of the best clubs in the world so it wasn’t hard to convince me to come here."
𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋: Mykhailo Mudryk’s anti-doping suspension has been lifted after the FA confirmed the disciplinary proceedings have been resolved. ✅
Mudryk is expected to join up with the Chelsea squad in Hong Kong for their pre-season.
🗣️An official statement from the FA Spokesperson read:
"The FA can confirm that the anti-doping disciplinary proceedings against Mykhailo Mudryk were resolved with the agreement of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on 30 July 2026. In the context of that agreement, Mr Mudryk has accepted his commission of Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) and accepted a period of ineligibility.
"On 22 October 2024, Mr Mudryk was subject to an out-of-competition doping control, which revealed the presence of a low concentration of meldonium, a prohibited substance. The FA notified Mr Mudryk of that finding on 4 December 2024 and imposed a provisional suspension. On 23 May 2025, The FA charged Mr Mudryk with ADRVs in breach of Regulations 3 and 4 of its 2024 Anti-Doping Regulations.
"On 7 to 9 January 2026, a hearing took place before an independent Regulatory Commission. The Regulatory Commission found that Mr Mudryk had committed the charged ADRVs and imposed a four-year period of ineligibility. Subsequently, Mr Mudryk filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
"Since then, changes have been made to WADA Technical Document (TD2027MRL) which, while not retroactive, mean that if Mr Mudryk's sample was collected today, the concentration of meldonium in the sample would not have been reported and no ADRVs would have resulted.
"Further to that development and to other circumstances of the case, The FA and Mr Mudryk have now - with the agreement of WADA - resolved the appeal proceedings in accordance with Article 10.8.2 of the World Anti-Doping Code and Regulation 90 of the 2024 Anti-Doping Regulations. As a part of the agreement, Mr Mudryk accepted that he had committed the ADRVs charged and acceded to a period of ineligibility equal to the time served at the date of the agreement.
"Mr Mudryk is no longer ineligible and may return to competition with immediate effect.”

“I can’t remember what he said. I think he said don’t worry about it or whatever, normal stuff. It was nice.
“I’m not really thinking about that now [his desire to win back his England place], to be honest. I’m just looking forward to the season with Chelsea, and to be honest, I’m not too bothered about that.”
🏥 𝐎𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧:
“I went to Sweden or Denmark - one of those countries - to see a doctor. We did speak about it [getting surgery], but I didn’t end up getting it.
“I didn’t really know how to deal with it. The first few months, with me being injured, I just wanted to go out and play, which I probably shouldn’t have done.
“Obviously I couldn’t play how I wanted to play. It was a bad season personally with injuries and stuff but I feel good now. The seven weeks obviously helped. I’m ready to go again.”
😤 𝐎𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧:
“Naturally.
“It’s like anything; if someone told you that you’re essentially not good enough to get in the squad, then you’re going to think, like, alright, whatever then, try to go that extra harder.”
🤜 𝐎𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬:
“Everyone knows how good he is.
“Obviously he’s one of my best friends so I am very happy about it.”
🥶 On who did the iconic ‘cold’ celebration between Palmer and Rogers:
“This is just the media, this! We’ve never spoken about it. It’s one of them. He does it. I do it.
“I’ve trademarked it so if he tries to do anything, he will have the bailiffs at his door [laughs]. Nah, we’ll do it together, I think.”

🗣️ On joining Chelsea, Lacroix said:
“I am really happy to be part of this beautiful club. Everyone knows the legend of Chelsea, its tradition of winning, and to be a part of that is a proud moment.
“When I spoke with the manager, I saw that we have the same direction and desire for this club.
“We want to win. When you see the quality of the players here, everything we have around the club, it's something that we can achieve. The ambition is to lift trophies, and I can’t wait to contribute.”
The 26-year-old made 98 appearances for Crystal Palace during two seasons at Selhurst Park and made history with the Eagles by winning the UEFA Conference League, FA Cup and Community Shield.
A product of Sochaux's academy, Lacroix made 28 senior appearances for the French club’s first team before joining Wolfsburg in August 2020.
He spent four years with the German side and made 130 appearances before his switch to south London.

🗣️🇦🇺 Xabi Alonso on Chelsea’s 6-4 win over Western Sydney Wanderers in the first pre-season friendly:
🤝 “I think that it has been a very useful friendly that we can learn a lot from today.
“There were moments that we were struggling to find solutions, and we need to have this, the positives is that we correct them, but there were moments that the game management is something that we can learn from today, when they were pressing so high, it was tough to find the solution from inside, to have different understanding of what’s happening, and to make those changes in the game.
“It’s something that will happen often in all the games, and the more situations we have that we are struggling and we find the solutions, the better team we will be.“
😤 𝐎𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐚𝐨 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐫𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐥’𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐩 𝐬𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐝:
“Very hungry. Joao is really, really determined to have a great season. He wants to, after a great last year, he scored many goals, but I think that he wants to keep scoring more and more. We need to help him, on his own it’s not possible, he will have the players around him, they need to have this hunger to score as well, it’s not just about the striker, but every time that we win and our striker scores, I am happy.”
🏥 𝐎𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨 𝐋𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞:
“He felt something in the hamstring, not a big thing, so hopefully we are expecting him to be fit for Saturday, but there was no point of taking risks today, so that is why Reggie Watson played these 90 minutes and he has done well.”

“The club appealed against the suspended points deduction and an independent Appeal Board allowed the appeal and set aside this sanction following a further hearing.
“In its place, the Appeal Board imposed a registration ban for two complete and consecutive transfer windows which is suspended until 30 June 2027.”
