Chelsea have won the Premier League in every mid-decade this Century….
Enzo Maresca:
“The reason we were so happy at the end was that it is not easy to win games in the Premier League. When you win four or five in a row, seven in all competitions, it’s important.”
Enzo Maresca on Brentford:
“Every free-kick and throw-in went long in the box. It was a mini battle every time. It’s not easy, their football is most of the time for set-pieces so you need to manage that and we did well.”
Enzo Maresca:
“What we want is for this [Stamford Bridge] to become our home and when teams come here we try to make it difficult for them.”

Sanchez - 8: Some great long ball distribution and an unreal save on Norgaard, when he doesn’t make mistakes he is very solid.
Cucurella - 9 [MOTM]: Absolutely everywhere in the first half, great run and finish as well to bag his first PL goal for Chelsea. Ended in disappointment however, as he was sent off after the full-time whistle for a second yellow.
Tosin - 7: Big presence winning a lot of headers on dangerous Brentford set pieces but had some shaky passes.
Colwill - 7: Great block on Damsgaard, put in some decent crosses early on. Maybe could have done better for Mbeumo‘a goal.
Gusto - 6: Crosses could have been more precise but had some good moments defensively - not really involved.
Caicedo - 8.5: Amazing pressing and energy as always, shut down countless possible counterattacks with 12 ball recoveries. Best CDM in the league currently.
Fernandez - 7: Struggled to deal with the high press by Brentford, however a great assist to release Jackson.
Palmer - 7: Great movement and creativity as always, should’ve had an assist to Sancho and put in some cracking set pieces.
Sancho - 7: Found it tough to find space on the wing but kept going and should’ve had an assist. Needs to be a little more clinical in front of goal.
Jackson - 7: Amazing work to recover mentally from the bad miss and still go on and score, shows how high his confidence is right now.
Madueke - 7.5: Some great moments 1v1 and a brilliant ball for Cucurella’s goal but decision making can improve.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank:
"We managed for the 90 minutes to go toe to toe with #Chelsea, especially in the second half. A draw would have been fair."

The replays make it worse, how do you miss that. Harder to miss than score 💔
Читать полностью…Chelsea made 21 crosses in the first half against Brentford. The Blues league average is 15 crosses per 90.
And their lone goal came from one of the crosses.

Enzo Maresca:
“Benoit [Badiashile] had a problem yesterday during the session. As for Romeo [Lavia], he can be available for the next game.”
(ChelseaFC)
🚨❗️Benoit Badiashile felt something in training yesterday. 23yo missing from the squad tonight - hopefully a minor problem.

Marc Cucurella played in a 10 at some point, we also put in around 30 crosses in the first half v Brentford. Things we haven’t done before, always a fan of managers who tweak the system to suit each opponent.
We have got a gem here.
Chelsea currently have 34pts after 16 games. Chelsea had 34pts after 24 games last season.

Enzo Maresca:
“No [we are not using Liverpool dropping points as motivation]. We have to think how to do our things, that is our main target and our focus has to be on just that.”
(ChelseaFC)
Chelsea are hopeful Romeo Lavia will be back for Everton next weekend.
