🇷🇺❌🇦🇿 For the 2nd night in a row, Russia bombed Azerbaijani oil company, SOCAR's oil terminals in Ukraine.

SOCAR is Azerbaijan's biggest oil company and its revenues account for 15% of the GDP of Azerbaijan. Bombing SOCAR's oil terminals is enough to directly hurt the economy of Azerbaijan without officially declaring war on it.

Russia and Azerbaijan have become bitter rivals thanks to Azerbaijan's alliance with Turkey which defeated Armenia and Azerbaijan's deepening relations with Israel which threatens Iran.

In response to the latest bombing, Baku threatened to lift the arms export restrictions on Ukraine and begin to openly supply Kiev with weapons and ammunition.

🇸🇾🇹🇷 Syrian army plans to seize eastern provinces if Kurds fail to co-operate

The Syrian military is planning a major offensive by October to capture two main provinces on the Euphrates River from a mostly Kurdish militia that has refused to submit to Damascus, security sources told The National.

If the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) does not hand over the bulk of its territorial possessions, a Syrian attack force of 50,000 being assembled near the desert city of Palmyra will sweep north and capture the governorates of Raqqa and Deir Ezzor with support from their overwhelmingly Arab tribal populations, the sources said.

One of the sources, who holds a sensitive security position in Syria and requested anonymity, said the offensive would not go ahead “without an American green light”. Another key would be ensuring non-intervention by Israel, which last month bombed Damascus to repulse a government offensive on the southern provincial capital of Sweida.

The Russian troops who launched the surprise assault this week were unskilled, he said, but they got past more experienced Ukrainian soldiers whose reconnaissance teams failed to detect them in tree lines...

Volodymyr, 49, a battalion commander, said his brigade has tried to hold this key part of the front line by maintaining it as “a kill zone” that protects infantry by killing the foot soldiers before they reach Ukrainian positions.

But his most urgent need, he said, is people, and as he waits for recruits, Russia is staging new offensives...

Vitalii, 46, a unit commander in the battalion, said he was hit last week by a Russian drone but had the shrapnel removed and returned to the fight because he feared abandoning his troops. His men are holding the line south of Pokrovsk, which pushed Russia to find weaknesses elsewhere. The fight has left his soldiers exhausted and in desperate need of reinforcements they just don’t have.

'We lack people,' he said, but the brigade still manages to kill about 30 Russian troops per day. If Ukraine cedes that land, he said, Russia will use the people and resources from the occupied land 'to fight against Ukraine.'

Retreat, he added, is not an option."

🇨🇳🇮🇷 Scoop: Signs picked up by Western intelligence have raised alarm in Jerusalem that China may be preparing to assist Iran in reacquiring and expanding its surface-to-surface ballistic missile program.

📝 Arnaud Bertrand: There are indeed more and more reports that China may be undergoing a pretty major shift and is now getting more serious in supplying "friendly countries" with serious defense systems.

Heck China itself said so, with the defense ministry recently saying that "China is willing to share military equipment achievements with friendly countries", which is a pretty clear statement.

Apparently they've reportedly already supplied Iran with advanced HQ-9B air defence batteries last month to protect itself against future Israeli attacks. And maybe now surface-to-surface ballistic missiles

This may signal that China is now starting to play a game it always tried to avoid. The Iran attacks may have convinced them that given the current context, when push comes to shove, countries need to know their partners can offer credible deterrence against military aggression.

And it seems to be credible indeed, given Israel's "alarm" at the news

🇬🇧🚫🗣 The UK's censorship body, OFCOM, tried to take down Gab.com by restricting the payment processor the social media site used, payment processor which was registered and based in the UK.

Gab founder, Andrew Torba, has refused repeatedly to take down posts considered by British authorities "illegal" and refused to disclose the private information of British users on the site who may have violated UK's hate speech laws.

By restricting the payment processor, Gab's operations could have come to a halt as it could no longer obtain funds paid by its users. Gab went around the ban by creating its own payment processing system and survived the British government's masked attempt at censoring the internet for users worldwide.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 After significant reinforcements were brought to the breakthrough at Zolotim Kolodez, Ukraine has recaptured several hamlets including the village of Zolotim Kolodez.

Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief, Alexandr Syrsky, sent three brigades, the 12th "Azov", the 92nd and 33rd in addition to 5 battalions from three other brigades.

This will likely lead to the abandonment of the Bryansk incursion and weakened other sectors of the frontline such as east of Kupiansk near the town of Petropavlovka, where Russia captured a series of trenches and dugouts which resisted for 12+ months nonstop bombardment and attacks.

However, the Donetsk military administration expects the situation to get worse in the oblast as it has given new evacuation orders for about 38 settlements, including the major cities of Druzhkovka and Alexeyevo-Druzhkovka.

I don’t know about the role for sure but given the relatively smaller size, the tank should rely more on active protection rather than good old armor.

Hence we can see a wide range of sensors related to self-protection and situational awareness.

Also despite having a hatch on top of the turret, in my opinion, this is an unmanned turret.

The turret hatch is relatively larger compared to the 2 crew hatches. And the hatch sits between the main gun and the ammo bustle, if manned, it would severely interfere with the operation.

Adding the fact that there’s no periscope around, that turret hatch is most likely a maintenance/access hatch.
