👀 BlackRock Lends Money to Bankrupt Bitcoin Miner Core Scientific

Blackrock Inc. is among a group of creditors that lent money to Bitcoin miner Core Scientific Inc. so it can continue to operate while it’s in bankruptcy, according to a filing from the asset manager. 

BlackRock has committed $17 million of a debtor-in-possession loan through funds and accounts managed by its subsidiaries. The funds managed by the firm also held $37.9 million in secured convertible notes of Core Scientific as of Dec 28, according to the filing.

⚠️ Mazars is pausing all work for crypto clients, including proof of reserves reports

According to Bloomberg, the auditor Mazars has suspended all services including proof of reserves for cryptocurrency exchanges, and its clients include Binance KuCoin Cryptocom and others. The AUP engagement provided by Mazars is widely misused as an “audit”.

Another audit firm, Armanino, is ending its crypto audit practice and dropping clients, Forbes reported. Armanino is auditor for FTX and OKX, Gate. Armanino was named in a class action lawsuit for its audit work at FTX.
